Project Title Pavilion/Kirdford Road Flooding Issues
Brief description of proposed works or activity
New culvert – Kirdford Road Due to blocked culvert, water is currently flowing
down Kirdford Road and accumulating at dangerous junction.
Clearing pathways – A272 East of village Vegetation growth had reduced the width of the
pavement making it dangerous for pedestrians to use.
Pavilion Flooding – repairs to pipe and formation of
new chamber Investigations into surface water gullies around the
Pavilion confirmed blockages and damaged pipes. This consequently created flooding around the Pavilion, potentially affecting the integrity of the building and causing the foul water system to be overwhelmed – sewage visible.

Community Group South Pond Group
Project Title Midhurst South Pond De-silting
Brief description of proposed works or activity
We are working on a major restoration of this historic
pond in the heart of Midhurst. Our key aims are to
improve the biodiversity and amenity value of the
pond. This is being done for the benefit of the whole
community. We are working in partnership with the
National Park Authority and Chichester District
Council/Midhurst Town Council. Major capital works
are required to fulfil this vision but action now will
prevent the need for additional measures in future
years.
There is an active local voluntary group to support
the project and work directly on it. The major
improvement and first stage is a proper dredging of
the pond, which will reduce regular flooding around
the pond.
SDNPA have drawn up a proposal through Salix (copy
attached). We particularly need to fund the dredging
operation as a high priority.
