Overview: MechoShade Electronic Control Systems

WindowManagement™ with AAC SolarTrac™

MechoShade's AAC SolarTrac™ System, is a software based control system, designedto automatically adjust the position of the shades incrementally on the window to maximize view and daylight while protecting people and work surfaces from direct sunand excessive brightness and glare. AAC SolarTrac can react to local climactic vari-ables such as sunny or cloudy conditions.

4.08MS2200 - 6/1/04

For more information on AACSolarTrac see pages

4.46 – 4.48, 4.50 and 4.55.

Through the use of three roof mounted solarsensors, AAC SolarTrac compares the actualmeasured solar radiation (sunshine) vs AHSRAEcalculated clear sky radiation. The AAC SolarTracuses this data to determine “clear” or “cloudy”sky conditions and operates accordingly. If it isdetermined to be sunny, then the shades moveto their proper positions. If cloudy, they wouldtypically be programmed to roll up. Time delaysbuilt into the program prevent excess shademovement on days with variable conditions.

The AAC SolarTrac adjusts shades incrementally on the window in accordance with the solarprofile angle and BTU load relative to each zone or orientation.

The position of the shades is determined for each zone based on the window geometry, ori-entation, glazing optical properties, allowable solar penetration, and real-time sky conditions,ie sunny or cloudy. The goal is to provide shading on the window when and where needed, while leaving as much of the window unshaded in order to maximize view and control glare. In other words....total WindowManagement.

At 2:15 p.m. the AAC SolarTrac has lowered the shades in reaction to thesun’s shift to the west elevation. The lightdimming system senses enough daylightfor the overhead lights to remain off.

At 2:40 p.m. the sun moves further ontothe West elevation, becoming more direct. The AAC SolarTrac lowers the shades tothe next position, to control the solar penetration into the work area. The lightdimming system continues to keep thelights off due to adequate natural light in the space.

At 3:45 p.m. the AAC SolarTrac reacts to the solar gain and glare conditions created as the sun sets, by lowering theshades to the maximum down position. The light dimming system has activatedsome of the lights, while leaving othersoff, based on the light levels achieved in each area.

Hardwired: Line Voltage Switching

Continued ☞

MechoShade possesses a variety of Line Voltage Switchesfor basic control of shades equipped with standard, line voltage (120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) tubular motors. The motorswire directly to the switches that control them in a hardwired, homerun (direct) fashion and therefore do not require anyintermediate controller electronics. The switches are single-pole/double-throw (SPDT) and double-pole, double-throw(DPDT) center-off devices that offer the control of one or twomotorized shading assemblies in an isolated fashion from acommon switch.

In general, these systems represent the most economicalcontrol solution and are best wired into renovate/new construction projects where the switches are controlling only one or two motors or a multi-banded group of shades.Shade operation is typically full-up/full-down where absolute alignment with another shade group is not a priority.Switches can be selected for operation in a momentary or maintained fashion to accommodate the user’s

requirements. If mid-window settings are required the switchmust run in a supervised fashion so that the user stops theshade when it reaches the desired position. These switchescan operate up to two separate motors simultaneously andcome in a variety of styles and colors to suit virtually anydécor.

All switch variations meet the various local and nationalbuilding codes for indoor usage. Each one also has beencertified to UL and CSA recognized component standards.Select switches have been further qualified by ETL understringent system testing requirements with regard to theirapplication under UL325 and CSA 22.2 along with all ofMechoShade’s available motors and hardware. These arethe E-Switch™ Series of switches which provide the installerand end user with additional confidence that the entireMechoShade solution and the methods used to install and wire it meet the strictest safety and reliability standards in the industry.

Hardwired: Low Voltage Controls

4.12MS2200 - 6/1/04

MechoShade Systems, Inc. possesses a diverse line of hardwired, low voltage controls. All offer enhanced operation of motorized shades equipped with standard, line voltage(120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) tubular motors. Each line voltagemotor is directly powered by a dedicated connection to a motorcontroller. The motor controller establishes the shade positionbased on input from a low voltage network of contact closurebased switches and accessories such as automation sensors(ie. Photocells, occupancy sensors, etc.), timers/schedulers, wireless remote controls and other third party controllers. This is considered to be a hardwired control network where the inputs on the motor controller are wired directly to the low voltage switches and accessories that actuate them.In general these types of control solutions are best applied to renovate/new construction projects where wiring can more easily be installed behind the drywall.

Flexible and Less Costly to InstallLow voltage control offers many installation advantages overline voltage control including safety, simplicity, flexibility and ultimately cost. Low voltage control connections operate at voltages that are designed to be non-hazardous. Therefore, it does not require a licensed electrician to pull this cabling and install it although it is highly recommended that a trainedprofessional perform the job in order to minimize problems.

Low voltage connections do not typically require conduit or junction boxes (local code dependent). This eliminates installation hardware costs and makes the installation process easier and more flexible for future changes.

Large, Multi-Level Control GroupsSome low voltage control networks are isolated from the linevoltage power mains (ie. I•CON) which helps to ensure thatcontrollers operating from different phases of the building’sincoming power can be interconnected reliably to form largeshade groups controlled by a common switch. In addition, often times the same shade can be part of more than oneshade group depending on the design of the controller(I•CON). This is called multi-level control which enables amotor/shade to be controlled as an individual shade, part of a group of shades or even be controlled from within a masterswitching circuit that includes all of the shades within a control network.

Advanced Control LogicLow voltage controllers such as the IQ/MLC are designedusing microprocessors in order to provide more flexibility in the operational features available to the user. For instance, if someone wanted to position a shade in the middle of the window a typical line voltage switch may require the user to

actuate the switch until the shade hits the desired point. This is called supervised operation. Within a low voltage controllerthe user may have the ability to push a single button momentarily which will cause the shade to move directly to a specific position on the window – ie. half-way down.Depending on the controller these stop positions may be programmable and may offer assured alignment opportunitieswith surrounding shades as well – regardless of varyingwindow heights.

Other opportunities afforded by a microprocessor-based controller may include advanced, intelligent user interfacessuch as keypads and LCD touchscreens. Various operatingmodes may also be offered such as Uniform Mode where ashade cannot be stopped anywhere on the window except at full up/full down and the established mid-window stop positions.

Seamless IntegrationMechoShade’s low voltage controllers are designed to beopen, interoperable devices which can work in coordination

with other manufacturers’ controllers or systems to provideenhanced functionality and features. This can include operationwith controllers for Lighting, HVAC, A/V, Security, Life/Fire/Safety or more generally into Building Management Systems(BMS). The methods available for seamless integration ofMechoShade’s controllers into these other systems include dry contact closures or RS232 / 485 from a software stand-point. These same methods are also available to integrate withvarious environmental sensors (photosensors, occupancy sensors, radiometers, thermostats, etc.) in order to provideautomated convenience, comfort and/or energy managementcontrol for example supporting Title 24 or Green Building applications.

Systems Testing – Safety and ReliabilityAll of MechoShade’s low voltage controllers have been testedby ETL to meet UL325 and CSA 22.2 system requirements toensure the installer and end user that the entire MechoShadesolution including the hardware, motors and controls in additionto the methods used to install and wire it meet the strictestindustry safety and reliability standards.

DescriptionThe MLC offers enhanced functionality over Line Voltage Switch controls by providing master control of large groups ofmotors while also enabling the integration of low voltage sensors, timers and third party control systems for higher level functionality. The device is designed to accommodate cost conscious applications involving the simultaneous movement of multiple shades where shade operation is typically full up/full down while mid-window positioning and guaranteed alignment is not a driving concern. Blackout shades for A/V conference rooms often require this type of operation. These controllers are best suited for renovation/new construction projects where the control wiring can be conveniently run behind the drywall.Surface mount raceway and drop ceilings can enable these devices to be installed in retrofit projects as well.

DetailMechoShade’s MLC is a cost effective, low voltage controller offering master control of four (4) standard, line voltage motors (120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz). The device is equipped with a low voltage control network that enables the positioning ofmotors in an UP/DOWN fashion with supervised mid-window positioning from either a single maintained-contact switch ormultiple momentary center-off switches and/or low voltage accessories (ie. automation sensors, timers, remote controls, etc.).Up to 25 MLCs (100 motors) can be daisychained over the low voltage network to operate from a single switch connection.MechoShade offers a variety of maintained-contact and momentary center-off switches in a wide range of colors and stylesto accommodate virtually any décor. In addition, the MLC can operate with a variety of third party contact closure switchesand controls supporting seamless integration into Lighting, HVAC, A/V and Building Management Systems (BMS).

MLCs provide control and power distribution functionality for the four (4) non-proprietary, line voltage motors they operate. Each motor is wired directly to its own dedicated set of fused power connections. The internal circuitry protects each motorand ensures the maximum lifetime out of the shade motor and the system. The low voltage control network (12 VAC) offers a cost effective opportunity to extend the control of the motors through contact closure devices into multiple locations andmultiple sources. Control switches and low voltage accessories wire directly to the MLC input in a hardwired fashion for ease of troubleshooting.

The MLC has been qualified by ETL under stringent system testing requirements with regard to UL325 and CSA 22.2 alongwith all of MechoShade’s available motors and hardware systems. This provides the installer and end user with additionalconfidence that the ENTIRE MechoShade solution and the methods used to install and wire it meet the strictest safety andreliability standards in the industry.

4.21MS2200 - 6/1/04

DescriptionThe IQ/MLC possesses advanced control functionality beyond that available from Line Voltage Switch activation or the MLClow voltage controller. This device is designed to accommodate discriminating applications involving the control of individualor groups of shades where mid-window positioning and guaranteed alignment across multiple shades is required. The IQ/MLCis operated by a decorative, 3-button switch providing convenient, one-touch positioning of the shade to one of five (5) alignment points on the window. The same shade can be operated individually AND by an overriding master control. A choiceof user modes can force the shade to only stop at the alignment points thus preserving the consistency of the interior andexterior building design. These controllers are best suited for renovate/new construction projects where the control wiring canbe conveniently run behind the drywall. Surface mount raceway and drop ceilings can enable these devices to be installed inretrofit projects as well. Reconfiguration of motor-switch grouping can be easily handled without rewiring by simply changinga DIP switch setting.

DetailMechoShade’s IQ/MLC is a hardwired, low voltage controller offering individual, group and master control of four (4) standard, line voltage motors (120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz). The IQ/MLC provides control and power distribution functionality to each motorwhich independently fuses the motor and protects it from power surges, improper wiring and inappropriate activation thusensuring the maximum lifetime out of the shade motors and the system.

The IQ/MLC is a microprocessor-based controller equipped with a low voltage control network that enables UP/DOWN and“one-touch” mid-window positioning of its motors through the IQMLC 3-button switch. The advanced logic capabilities of theIQ/MLC offer five (5) alignment points across the operation of each motor including three (3) programmable mid-windowalignment points. These alignment points provide assured alignment across multiple shades – REGARDLESS OF WINDOWHEIGHT. The controller also permits each low voltage input to be controlled using one of two different operating modes.Normal Mode permits the shade to be stopped anywhere across the entire height of the window. Uniform Mode enables the shade to be stopped ONLY at the alignment points thus ensuring at all times a consistent look across the window wall.

Hardwired: Low Voltage Controls – IQ/MLC™

The IQ/MLC’s low voltage control network (12 VDC) offers a cost effective opportunity to extend the control of the motors through contact closure devices into multiple locations and multiple sources. Four Local Input connections are provided to enable individual and group control capability through DIP-switch assigned combinations of all four motors. The DIP switches are a convenient way to alter Switch-Motor assignments without rewiring. Two Master Input connections enable simultaneous operationof all four motors through a common switch. (Up to 10 MLCs (40 motors) can be daisy chained over the low voltage network tooperate from a single switch connection.) Switches and low voltage accessories wire directly to the Local and Master Inputs in a hardwired fashion for ease of troubleshooting. The IQ/MLC low voltage network can operate with a variety of third party contactclosure switches, low voltage accessories (ie. automation sensors, timers, remote controls, etc.) and controls supporting seamless integration into Lighting, HVAC, A/V and Building Management Systems (BMS).

The IQ/MLC has been qualified by ETL under stringent system testing requirements with regard to UL325 and CSA 22.2 alongwith all of MechoShade’s available motors and hardware systems. This provides the installer and end user with additional confidence that the ENTIRE MechoShade solution and the methods used to install and wire it meet the strictest safety and reliability standards in the industry.

Networked: Low Voltage Controls – I•CON™

Multi-Level ControlThe I•CON Control System consists of standard, open sourceline voltage motors connected to addressable, 2-motor I•CONBus Interface Controllers (BI).

• Each I•CON network can support 255 unique addresses.• If more than 255 addresses are required, the network

can be extended.• Through the BI each motor can respond to up to 9-unique

addresses thus enabling a motor to be part of 8 different group addresses and yet still be individually addressed.

• Control wiring is simple, flexible and independent of addressing scheme unlike hardwired systems.

• Control wiring links every BI together into the network using 2 twisted pair, low voltage cabling or standard CAT5 cabling.

• Control network wiring is a free topology.

AddressingWithin the I•CON BI each motor can be addressed and controlled through up to 9 different addresses:

1) 8 - Software Programmable Network Addresses2) 1 - Local Port DIP Switch Address (DSA)

Devices on the network (ie. Intelligent Switches) can control amotor through any one of its internal 9 addresses. Devices ona BI's Local Port can control the motor they are directly wiredto plus any motors which have a Programmable or DSAaddress coinciding with the DIP switch address of the LocalPort that the Local Switch is connected to.

Local Port Addressing - Local Switch Control:Each I•CON BI has 2 local switch ports - one for each of themotors the BI controls. The I•CON Local Switch and Portallows one to pre-set a simple network in the factory, yet

provide flexibility for changes and modifications in the fieldwithout reprogramming, while maintaining the key features of the I•CON system.

The I•CON Local Switch and Local Switch Port have the following features/functionality:

• I•CON Local Switches plug into one of 2 port on a BI, and directly control one of the corresponding motors without any addressing or programming

• The I•CON Local Switch's control can be expanded to control other motors on the network by setting a DIP switch address on the Local Switch Port that the I•CON Local Switch is connected to.

• Any motor on the network with an address that corresponds with the DIP switch address will respond to the Local Switch.

• Preset DIP Switch Addressing provides out of the box group control functionality, avoiding field commissioning and programming.

• The I•CON Local Switch provides 6 alignment positions, including full up, full down and 4 default intermediate positions of 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%

• Up to 4, custom intermediate alignment positions can be easily be set by the user or installer.

Network Addressing – Intelligent Switch ControlI•CON Intelligent Switches provide maximum flexibility inwiring, control and access to the I•CON network. I•CONIntelligent Switches share the same 4 button architecture asthe I•CON Standard Switch, but have additional intelligencebuilt into a circuit board on the back of the switch. I•CONIntelligent Switch features and functions include:

I•CON

• I•CON Intelligent Switches can be wired anywhere on the I•CON network and are not limited to connection to a BI, providing flexibility, convenience and lower wiring costs.

• I•CON Intelligent Switches can control motors any-where on the network, regardless of physical location.

• A software based address is programmed into an I•CON Intelligent Switch: Any motor on the network with a corresponding address in their address table can respond to that switch.

• Ideal for master control and large or overlapping group control applications spanning multiple offices or floors.

• Ideal for environments where switches and controls may require reconfiguration.

• The I•CON Intelligent Switch provides access to the network for a Hand held I•CON programmer which allows access to any motor/ BI on the network forprogramming and commissioning.

• Features an elegant 4-button architecture by which to access all functions.

• Provides 6 alignment positions, including full up, full down and 4 default intermediate positions of 20%,40%, 60% and 80%.

• Up to 4 custom intermediate alignment positions can be easily be set by the user or installer.

• Local Switch Port on the BI allows access to 3rd party control ie. A/V, Lighting and BMS, via dry contacts.

Six Position Mid-Window AlignmentI•CON automatically aligns two or more motorized shades at auto set or custom set positions on a window. Each switchpositions shades to 6 aligned positions. Using a four buttonswitch, shades may be positioned and aligned at four intermediate set points (20%, 40%, 60% & 80% of the window height or custom programmed at any point on the window as specified by the owner/architect.) Plus full up and full down. Shades always align at the selected stop points top down or bottom up thus compensating for variances due to gravity. (See illustration on page 4.38.)

UniformMode™ and Normal Mode

UniformMode™: Shades may ONLY be stopped at any of the 6 alignment positions. Normal Mode: Shades may be stoppedat any of the 6 alignment positions (Up, 20%, 40%, 60%,80%,Down) or anywhere in between.

With I•CON, even though the motors are asynchronous andthe grouped shades are of different size width and weight, shade bands can be programmed to align at selected points on the window.

Third Party IntegrationThe Local Switch Port extends the integration and operation ofthe I•CON control network beyond Local Switches to thirdparty control systems (Lighting, A/V, HVAC and BMS). The useof the dip switch addresses allows the Local Switch Port tobroadcast the shade commands,

from a third party system, throughout the network. Unlikemany competing systems, the Local Switch Port provides dry contact integration without requiringthe costly expense of adding aninterface module (ie. dry contactinterface, RS232 Interface). Thus, the Local Switch Port can provide a cost effective and universalmethod to extend control of theshading network to other systems within the building.

I•CON can also utilize a variety of interface modules to integrate with third party control systems through the networkusing RS232, RS485 and a various other protocols and media.

InstallationI•CON represents a networked shading control system whichemploys a single ubiquitous low voltage cable network to interconnect controllers (BIs) and switches in order to formcontrol groups Network wiring.

• Eliminates the labor intensive “spider web” of connectionsfound in a hardwired system where each switch must be wired directly to the controller for each motor that it controls.

• Greatly reduces the troubleshooting costs associated with complex groupings.

I•CON utilizes a free topology network to interconnect controllers (BIs), switches, and other network devices.Whether someone is homerunning cables back out a centralpanel or daisy chaining out to each successive devise, I•CONcan meet the installation’s requirements to support cost minimization, quick installation, ease of troubleshooting and/orfuture expansion flexibility. Free topologysupports any combination of star, busand loop wiring structures even withinthe same installation. This simplifiesinstallation by allowing the wiring to berun in the most expeditious manner. Italso simplifies expansion by eliminatingrestrictions on wiring routing, splicingand network devise placement.

Simplicity is the rule and problems due to field wiring errorsare substantially reduced. While net difference in cost is minimal (the increased cost of the hardware being offset by the reduced cost of wiring) the net advantage in operation reliability and management flexibility is substantial.

Fully accessible, fully addressable and easily programmed / reprogrammed. Each two motor BI has its own unique four digit location number for ease of locating and programming. Each of the two motors are managed by the BI through various address tables. Each side has:

1 BI Dip Switch Address (BI/DSA). Manually set.

8 Programmable Network Addresses (ISA).

Set via the hand-held programmer.

The I•CON hand-held Programmer allows accessand programming of any BI of Intelligent Switchfrom any location on the network. Thus the system can be reconfigured without rewiring.

Switch reconfiguration instead of rewiringEach Switch and Bus Interface may be reprogrammed on site via the hand-held I•CON Programmer resulting in a system that can be reconfigured without rewiring.Additional Switches may be wired in series or in parallel.

Wireless Controls – Networked

MechoShade Systems possesses a line of wireless, radio frequency (RF) controls. These products offer enhanced functionality for motorized shades without requiring the wiringand installation costs associated with low voltage – networkedor low voltage – hardwired controls. The radio frequency signalcommunicates directly between the user interfaces and themotors or the controllers actuating the motors without anywires. Therefore, aside from wiring line voltage power for themotors there is no control wiring; thus enabling these productsto offer solutions for retrofit, renovate or new constructionopportunities where installing control cabling behind the drywall is not an option.

MechoShade’s RTS™ wirelesscontrol solutions come in two varieties. The first employs wireless, networked control for standard, line voltage (120/240VAC, 50/60 Hz) tubular motors. With these solutions power for the motors is run to the RTS-equipped controller where wireless signals from switches andother wireless devices (photosensors, timers, etc.) are receivedto control the distribution and application of power to the motor. This solution enables the benefits of wireless control with stan-dard, non-proprietary motors. It also has certain wiring advan-tages where the motor being controlled is distant or shielded in

some fashion from the wireless switch or device controlling it.The other product solution employs wireless, line voltage(120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz)motors. Power is run to theRTS-equipped motor whichcommunicates directly withwireless switches, photosen-sors, timers, etc. to control the motor’s position. This solutionmakes wiring power to the motors more efficient since multiple motors can be daisychained to a common line voltage power connection.

Flexible and Less Costly to InstallUnlike infrared (IR) wireless technology (like your TV remotecontrol), RF wireless technology transmits in an omnidirectionalmanner and therefore does not require the user to “aim” atransmitter at a receiver in order to cause something to happen. This capability enables the positioning of RF switchesvirtually anywhere in a room without forcing the transmittingand receiving faces to line up. RF energy also does not attenuate as quickly as IR thus enabling ranges of over 60 feet in typical installations! Couple this with the fact that RFtechnology can transmit through most non-metallic materials(like drywall) and now the system is capable of controllingmotors in more than one room on potentially more than onefloor – without requiring any control wiring!

Wireless Controls

Multi-Level Control GroupsRTS™ wireless solutions provide distributed intelligence to the system which means that each device or node (motor, controller or user interface) uses a microprocessor to enable it to perform as an active member of the wireless control network. In order to be part of the network the devices possess unique addresses. Each motor or controller can be programmed to respond to up to 6 different control groups. Each control group can enable different levels of motor/shadecombinations ranging from individual motor control to group/overlapping group control and finally to master control. Sincethe same motor/shade can be part of any combination of thesecontrol groups we refer to its capability as multi-level control.

Advanced Control LogicMechoShade’s RTS systems offer one-touch positioning capability where a single momentary button press will causethe shade to move directly to a position on the window. Threealignment points are provided including one mid-window stopposition which is programmable. Thus enabling assured alignment opportunities with surrounding shades as well –REGARDLESS OF VARYING WINDOW HEIGHTS.

Seamless IntegrationMechoShade’s RTS solutions are designed to be open, interoperable devices which can work in coordination with other manufacturers’ controllers or systems to provideenhanced functionality and features. This can include

operation with Lighting controllers, HVAC controllers, A/V controllers, Security controllers, Life/Fire/Safety controllers ormore generally into Building Management Systems (BMS). Themethods available for seamless integration of MechoShade’sRTS motors and controllers into these other systems includedry contact input and output devices. MechoShade also offersa variety of RTS-equipped sensors and timers to provide automated convenience, comfort and/or energy managementcontrol enabling RTS to support for example Title 24 or Green Building applications. However, the dry contact integration products also enable third party devices to be employed to help supplement these networks.

Safety and ReliabilityMechoShade’s RTS product line also offers advanced securityfeatures employing 20 million rolling address codes to preventunauthorized operation into the system and to help preventtransmitters from operating unaddressed motors.

All of MechoShade’s wireless control solutions meet UL325 and CSA 22.2 requirements. Furthermore, the RTS components are further certified by the FCC to operate at 433.25 MHz.

Although RF signals can transmit through most walls it does not travel through metal. Therefore, the metallic framing structure of thebuilding and the furnishings within a room can affect the operational range, can create signal dropout areas and even eliminate theability for the system to communicate altogether. In addition, RFsignals from the RTS system and from other systems can interferewith each other if proper component and system selection has not taken place which can hamper the reliability and functionalityintended within the user’s environment. For many of these reasons hospitals and healthcare facilities typically will not permit the useof RF systems within their environment. Government facilities and other applications that are concerned about security are also oftenresistant to employ wireless solutions.

AAC-SolarTrac™ Window Management System

■ Improves productivity by:

1. Improving personal comfort.

2. Maximizing view and healthy exposure to natural daylight.

3. Regulating brightness and glare on CRT screens to reduce eye strain and improve productivity.

Description of Operation

The multi-zone, multi-position, PC-basedAAC SolarTrac™ Window ManagementSystem was developed exclusively forthe operation of ElectroShades®.

The system is an intelligent multi-levelcommand program which automaticallyadjust the position of shades incremen-tally, in accordance with the sun’s angleof incidence, solar heat-gain factors inBTUs, and allowable solar penetration.

The system allows for brightness andglare control by adjusting the shades to“clear-sky”, “cloudy-sky”, or “bright-over-cast-sky” conditions. The AAC-SolarTracsystem incorporates these elements in accordance with an established computer program for vertical, horizontal, or sloping windows.

The AAC SolarTrac System is a multi-zone controller that:

• On a 365-1/4 day solar analysis, AACSolarTrac automatically positions theshades to meet varying sun angles. This is accomplished utilizing ASHRAEclear day radiation as comparedmicro-climactic conditions at the siteprovided through three redundantsolar meters via analog inputs into the system.

• Using solar meters, determines themomentary micro-climactic conditions(clear, cloudy, or bright-overcast).

• Incorporates user adjustable internaltime delays, which adjust for intermittent clouds.

• During nighttime winter conditions, lowers the shades to provide additionalinsulation; during nighttime summerconditions, raises the shades.

Almost unlimited programming optionsare available to the end user such aslowering shades, at night and winter to reduce heat loss and/or reduceinternal illumination transmitted out of the building.

• Includes manual override capability by zone.

• Incorporates on-site-adjustments tooperating standards, either by user orremotely via modem by MechoShade.
