    1.04 SUBMITTALS

    A Comply with section 0133 00.

    B Submit manufacturer's illustrated leaflets, catalogs and technical/photometric data for interior lighting fixtures to show that the proposed light fixtures are of the required type, construction and quality.

    C Submit dimensioned shop drawings of lighting fixture installations, including but not necessary limited to, layout and connections to panel boards. Submit fixture shop drawings in booklet form with separate sheet for each proposed fixture, assembled in luminaire type alphabetical order.

    D Submit new lighting calculations if an equal alternative fixture (different from the specified one) would be submitted. Additional lighting fixtures of the equal alternative fixture type shall be provided at no extra cost to achieve the specified illumination level.

    1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE

    A Manufacturers: Firms regularly engaged in the manufacture of lighting fixtures of types and ratings required, whose products have been in satisfactory use in similar service for not less than 5 years. Preference shall be given to local manufacturers and suppliers/agents.

    B Installer: Firms regularly engaged and qualified with at least 5 years of successful installation experience on projects with interior lighting fixtures similar to that required for this project.

    C All interior lighting fixtures shall comply with the requirements of IEC, BS and SASO.

    1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

    A Comply with section 01 61 00.

    B Luminaires, lamps, and accessories shall be delivered to the job site wrapped in protective covering and stored in a dry location free from dust or water, and in such a manner to permit easy access for inspection and handling. Luminaires, lamps, and accessories shall be handled carefully to prevent damage. Damaged items shall be replaced at no additional cost.

    1.07 WARRANTY

    A Comply with section 01 78 36.

    1.08 SPARE PARTS

    A Supply as maintenance stock, additional ballasts, LV transformers, power supplies, diffusers, lenses, covers and lamps amounting to one unit for every 20 units, but not less than 3 units of each type, size and rating.

    PART 2: PRODUCTS

    2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS

    Not Used.

    2.02 GENERAL

    A All materials specified herein shall be of high quality and of proven suitability for the functions they will perform and the conditions they will meet in service.

    B Furnish all light fittings complete with internal wiring, lamps and lamp holders, all kinds of control gear, LV transformers, power supplies, leads, trim, rings, frames, hangers and reflectors.

    C Lighting fittings shall be of sizes, types, IP-protection degree and ratings as shown on the drawings and schedules.

    D All wiring within the lighting fittings shall be suitable for the voltage, current and temperature to which insulation will be subjected.

    2.03 SPOT/DOWN LIGHTS

    A Provide all recessed, surface mounted, suspended and wall mounted spot/down light fittings as shown on drawings and schedules.

    B All low voltage lighting fittings shall be provide with appropriately rated step-down (usually 230/12 Volts) electronic transformer having more than 0.98 p.f. and suitable to withstand the

    temperature upto 60o

    C All spot/down lights shall be labeled with voltage, frequency, current rating, lamp type/wattage, power factor, manufacturer's name and country of origin.

    C.

    2.04 FLUORESCENT LUMINAIRES

    A The control gear, components and wiring of all the fluorescent and compact fluorescent lighting fixtures shall be enclosed in a steel canopy, protected from corrosion and suitable for the intended application.

    B Recessed, surface and suspended mounted luminaires shall be designed for use with control gear having maximum case temperatures, suitable for use in ambient temperatures and conditions where they are to be installed.

    C All luminaires shall be labeled where visible with the voltage, frequency, current rating to include control gear and lamp(s), manufacturer's name and fixture type.

    D All ballasts shall be of the Electronic type (High Frequency) with a minimum of 0.98 p.f. Digitally addressable electronic ballasts, dimmable electronic ballasts or any other type of ballasts required for the proper function of dimming and control applications shall be provided with the luminaires, whether indicated on the drawings specifically of not.

    E All electronic ballasts shall be compatible with the approved KNX system, DALI system, central battery system (for emergency) or any other lighting system when included as part of the project.

    F Where reflector and white louver assembly is specified construct, the reflector shall be constructed from highly polished aluminum.

    G All wiring within the luminaires shall be suitable for the voltage, current and temperature to which insulation will be subjected.

    H The metal canopy shall be finished with white high gloss stove enameled paint.

    I All luminaires shall be fitted with radio interference suppression feature.

    2.05 DISCHARGE LAMP LUMINAIRES

    A Discharge lamp luminaires shall to be of a type as shown on the drawings and schedules.

    B Luminaires generally, shall be of a type suitable for use with sodium vapor or metal halide type lamps and shall have integral control gear unless otherwise specified.

    C Where control gear is to be separately mounted, it shall be completely enclosed in a metal clad type enclosure complete with conduit entry facilities and fixing accessories.

    D Power factor correction capacitors shall be supplied of adequate rating to provide an overall circuit power factor not less than 0.90 lagging.

    E Luminaire enclosures for internal use shall be fabricated from cast alloy (e.g. die-cast Aluminium) or sheet steel, finished in a corrosion and abrasion resistant paint finish. All enclosures shall be complete with conduits or glands for cable entries including all necessary supports and fixing accessories.

    F Luminaires to be flush mounted in suspended ceilings shall be suitable for the ceiling module dimensions and types of suspended ceiling such as concealed spline or exposed T, gypsum board, tiles, strip, etc.

    2.06 LED LIGHTING

    A Provide lighting fixtures comprising special semi-conductors called Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) as light source by utilizing modern opto-electronic technology, as shown on the drawings or mentioned elsewhere in the contract documents.

    B The power suppliers/drivers for LED lighting fixtures shall be suitable for 230 volts, 1-phase, 60 Hz, AC power supply.

    C The LEDs shall be day light white, warm white or RGB type as shown on the drawings and approved by the Engineer according to the application.

    D The LEDs shall be rated to withstand harsh environment with a maximum ambient temperature of 50 o

    E The LEDs shall have minimum guaranteed life of 50,000 operational hours.

    C.

    F LED lighting fixtures shall use dedicated Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) designed carefully to equip with selected LED finings in a professional manner to ensure optimum luminous flux and colour rendition.

    G The optical system for LED lighting fixtures shall be built in two layers of lenses and reflectors, thereby allowing full utilization of the light emitting from LEDs with maximum efficiency and light output. Special lens and reflectors shall be used for this purpose.

    H Provide maintenance free passive heat sinks for LED lighting fixtures to ensure that the LED module within the fixture will operate below the critical temperature range in order that it will produce full power output through out the entire functional life without any de-rating.

    I Provide electronic control gear, power supply / drivers suitable for the operation of LED lighting fixtures. A universal power supply / driver may also be used with high power rating to supply power to several LED lighting fixtures, subject to application and suitability as per manufacturer's recommendations.

    J All power supplies / drivers for LED and other linear lighting fixtures shall comply with relevant standards and be suitably designed to locate them remotely from the lighting fixtures itself at a distance of 50 meter or more at locations accessible to maintenance staff at all times.

    K Provide all type of power supplies / drivers, LV transformers and control gear such as DALI, colour mixing modules, RGB modules, 0-10 volts dimming, DMX controls, etc. required for the intended operation and control of all LED and other types of linear lighting fixtures whether shown on the drawings and schedules or not. These components shall be considered as part of the lighting fixture.

    2.07 LAMPS

    A All LV halogen reflector lamps shall be with infra-red coating IRC. Special purpose high output lamps shall consist of a tungsten filament housed in a halogen filled quartz tube giving a light output of 17-22 lumens/watt and a life expectancy of 2000 hours.

    B Tubular fluorescent lamps shall conform to the requirements of IEC and shall be of the bi-pin type.

    C Average life expectancy of fluorescent lamps not to be less than 12000 hours and maintenance factor not less than 0.9.

    D The standard colour of fluorescent lamps shall be 3000 o

    E Compact fluorescent lamps shall be of the types and ratings as shown on the drawings. Lamps to be suitable for operation in the cap position as denoted in the lighting fixture in which they are intended to be used.

    K colour, unless otherwise specified. Cool white or Warm white as selected by the Engineer.

    F Metal halide discharge lamps shall be suitable for operation in cap position as denoted in the lighting fixture in which they are intended to be used. The lamps to be capable of maintaining an average life of 5000 hours with an average light output of 66-85 lumens/Watt.

    G High pressure sodium vapour discharge lamps shall be of high pressure type (SON). Lamps shall be suitable for operation in the cap position required in the luminaire in which they are intended to be used. Lamps shall be capable of maintaining an average life of 8000 hours with an average light output of approximately 100 lumens/Watt.

    H Electrical characteristics of all type of lamps shall be in accordance with the details shown on lighting fixture schedules/specification sheets and drawings. The lamps shall be from a well known manufacturer such as Osram, Philips, GE or as required and approved by the Engineer.

    2.08 LIGHTING FIXTURES ACCESSORIES

    A Lamp Holders and Starters:

    1. Lamp holders, starters and starter holders shall conform to IEC.

    2. Provide mechanical self retaining neoprene gasket which is dust and moisture proof to act as a seal between lamp and lamp holder.

    B Ballasts:

    1. Provide electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps in accordance with IEC. These shall be thermally protected, high power factor, low loss and of the energy saving type.

    2. Provide dimmable electronic ballasts compatible to Digitally Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) standard or 1-10 volt system or any other control system as required and approved by the Engineer for all types of lamps and lighting fixtures shown on the drawings and schedules.

    3. Provide ballasts for sodium vapor and other high intensity discharge lamps in accordance with IEC. Maximum allowable temperature rise at rated input above an average ambient temperature of 50 C shall be 115 C.

    C Diffusers:

    1. Diffusers shall be manufactured from one piece virgin acrylic, clear acrylic, or polycarbonate plastic having the following characteristics:

    a. Interior diffusing type with smooth exterior surface.

    b. Self-extinguishing type as determined by applicable standards.

    c. No material colour change when used with 4000 K fluorescent lamp.

    d. No apparent yellowing after 500 hours exposure to fluorescent lamp. Source under conditions similar to those existing in the lighting fixture.

    e. No altering of the optical properties of the fixture when finished diffuser treated with anti-static wax.

    2. Diffusers shall be formed by a carefully controlled process so that the finished piece retains its design contours and dimensions without any change at the normal operating temperature.

    3. Diffusers shall be resistant to shrinking, warping, crazing, cracking, or discoloring, either in service or when stored in normal conditions in the manufacturer's standard shipping containers.

    D Provide wiring and cabling for interior lighting fixtures in accordance with section 26 05 19.

    E Junction boxes shall be of code gauge galvanized steel of shapes and sizes to suit their respective locations and shall be provided with covers to suit their function and installation. Install an appropriate expansion fitting wherever the conduit run crosses an expansion joint.

    2.09 PROTECTION CLASSIFICATION

    A All interior lighting fixture enclosures shall be classified in accordance with the IP classification system and two digit number code.

    B All interior lighting fixtures for outdoor use or in damp or wet locations, particularly in toilets and bath rooms, shall be dust and damp proof and weatherproof as classification IP- 54 minimum.

    C All interior lighting fixtures for use in hazardous areas shall conform to the requirements of NEC Chapter 5 and shall be appropriate to the classification of the hazard.

    PART 3: EXECUTION

    3.01 INSPECTION

    A Comply with section 01 31 00.

    B Examine the areas and conditions in which luminaires are to be installed and correct any unsatisfactory conditions detrimental to the proper and timely completion of the work. Do not proceed with the work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to the Engineer.

    C Coordinate light fixtures with the type of ceiling finish given in the Ceiling Finishes Schedule.

    D Examine the architectural, mechanical and structural drawings to become familiar with the structural features of the building and the location of pipes, ducts, etc., which would alter the location or spacing of outlets for interior lighting. Submit to the Engineer for a decision as to the proper location. Be responsible for the proper reinforcement of any ductwork necessary to carry the added weight of lighting fixtures where same must be mounted on the bottom of such ductwork.

    3.02 GENERAL INSTALLATION

    A Install lighting fixtures at locations as indicated in accordance with fixture manufacturer's written instructions, applicable requirements of IEC, BS, SASO and with recognized industry practices to ensure that lighting fixtures fulfill requirements.

    B Furnish all fixtures complete with lamps. Install permanent lighting fixtures after completion of all masonry and structural work. Do not use for lighting purposes during construction. Provide temporary lighting as specified in division 1 of the specification.

    C Where job conditions require mounting heights different from those specified or shown, to avoid equipment or structural features, etc., such changes in mounting heights shall be as directed by the Engineer.

    D Set lighting fixtures plumb, square, level and in alignment. Secure in accordance with manufacturer's directions and approved shop drawings.

    E Luminaires shall be arranged for surface, recess or pendant mounting as required by the general structure and decor of the building. Where a suspended ceiling is provided, fix recess mounted luminaires as specified or as shown on the drawings.

    F When lighting fixture is not required to be furnished by the contractor, complete wiring shall be provided by him for all lighting points.

    3.03 SURFACE MOUNTED LUMINAIRE INSTALLATION

    A All surface or pendant mounted luminaires shall be fixed to a surface or flush mounted metal conduit box. Direct surface mounted luminaires shall be spaced a distance of 12 mm from the mounting surface by using extension rings.

    B Make connections between the permanent wiring and the luminaire using cable rated for a minimum of 150 C. Connect cable using a porcelain or heat resistant connector block housed in the conduit box.

    3.04 RECESS MOUNTED LUMINAIRE INSTALLATION

    A Suspend all recess mounted luminaires independently of the ceiling in which they are fitted. Where such an arrangement is not possible or practical, luminaires shall be fitted in and supported by the ceiling. Ensure that the suspended ceiling is suitably strengthened to carry the additional weight.

    B Make connections between the permanent wiring and luminaires using heat resistant flexible cables and conduit box mounted adjacent to the luminaire and accessible on removal of the luminaire.

    C Flexible cable shall be three core type, one core being used as the circuit protective and earth bonding conductor. Where the cable forms the connection to a tungsten lamp luminaire, it shall be rated for operation at 150 C minimum.

    3.05 PENDANT MOUNTED INSTALLATION

    A Mount tube pendants from a ball and socket type swivel dome cover plate fitted to a ceiling mounted metal conduit box and conduit of minimum diameter 20 mm. The conduit entry to the luminaire shall be fitted with a lock nut and provide a flexible copper bond from the fixed conduit installation to the pendant tube.

    B Proprietary type pendant luminaires, whether single or multi-lamp units, shall be bonded and provided with suitable terminations to ensure reliable earth continuity throughout all exposed metalwork.

    C Plain pendants shall consist of a junction box, a flexible cord of heat resistant cable and a heat resistant lamp holder.

    D Do not suspended luminaires by means of flexible cables with the exception of certain lightweight domestic and commercial types of luminaires, which shall be agreed with the Engineer.

    E Support suspended luminaires by means of purpose manufactured metal supports.

    F Provide white break joint rings between the fittings and conduit box to mask the joints as deemed necessary by the Engineer.

    3.06 ADJUSTMENT AND CLEANING

    A Comply with section 01 31 00.

    B Clean interior lighting fixtures of dirt and debris upon completion of installation. Protect installed fixtures from damage during remainder of the construction period.

    3.07 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

    A Comply with section 26 08 00.

    B Upon completion of installation of lighting fixtures and after building circuitry has been energized, apply electrical energy to demonstrate capability and compliance with requirements. Where possible, correct malfunctioning units at site and then retest to demonstrate compliance. Otherwise, remove and replace with new units and proceed with retesting.

    C At the time of substantial completion, replace lamps in lighting fixtures which are observed to be noticeably dimmed after contractor's use and test.

    D Test all luminaires functionally to prove that they operate satisfactorily as per control requirements.

    E Check and record actual illumination levels and compare with design requirements as per applicable standards.

    3.08 EARTHING

    A Comply with all the requirements of section 26 05 26 for earthing of all lighting fixtures as applicable.

    B Use separate earthing wire between lighting fixtures and panel board. Minimum size shall be 2.5 mm2

    3.09 TRAINING

    .

    A Comply with section 01 77 00.

    B Provide instruction and training to the Owners staff for the operation and maintenance of the equipment. Provide a minimum of eight (8) hours training to be divided between classroom and hands-on training as required by the Owner.

    C Agree the training schedule (dates, time, duration of each class, etc.) with the Owner at least one month before the actual training programme is scheduled.

    3.10 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

    A. Comply with section 01 78 23.
