Note from the Editor
Happy Valentine’s Day, Key
Clubbers~! I hope you’re feeling
the love for Key Club, because I
sure am! I’m very proud of the
work you’ve done recently! I
apologize for the lack of
newsletter last month, but I felt
that all of you pandas were up
to date on what was going on,
so I didn’t feel the need to tell
you what was going on.
Anyways, I would like to congratulate you all on the work
you’ve done as of late! We have finally finished our Bags
for Mats project, and we folded almost 400 bags in total!
That is AMAZING! Or in our president’s words, PAW-SOME~!
Keep up the good work!
Hyacinth Ruiz
Key Club loves
you and all
the work you
do~!

“The Strip Poker Run was a great experience as well
as a heartwarming one. It was amazing to see the
amount of people running with layers of clothes on,
especially in the hot weather! There were so many
items collected and I couldn’t feel anymore proud
of everyone who helped and donated. I had a Paw-
some time and even met other students from various
Key Clubs! I was so glad to have helped out!

For a while now, our Key Club has been collecting bags in
order to fold them and donate them to a shelter that creates
beds out of the bags. These beds will then be given to those in
need. Of course, our Key Club, being how it is, decided to
spice things up and add some excitement to the service. So
each meeting, for 30 minutes (or more) we would get in groups
of two (or, again, more) and our advisor would time us. The
objective was simple: whoever folded the most bags will end
up as the winning group. Because this took place over the
course of weeks, some of our teams ended up mixed up but,
overall, we all enjoyed the folding of the bags and admittedly,
I can say that I learned a bit about teamwork. The whole
service project was really enjoyable (who doesn’t love a good
competition?) and it feels nice to know that we managed to
have fun while giving back to the community.
Past Events: Chinese New Year
Parade
February 9th
Article by: Sarah Mirjavadi
The Parade was a very enjoyable experience.
We were able to see the different types of Asian
apparel that are traditional during the New Year. Not
only that, but we were able to interact with Governor
Sandoval and look a little more into our government
and how important our votes are in the future. We of
course cheered against the little cheerleaders by
“going bananas” and letting them know how…
We even showed Governor Sandoval how we felt and
embarrassed ourselves but it was fun. During the parade, we
were able to volunteer by handing out candy or stickers.
Even though I was running around like crazy handing candy
out to everyone, it was worth the smile the children and even
the adult gave with this small gesture. I think the best candy
giving part was throwing them to the people in the
bleachers. So many hands came out of the crowd in search
for candy! Let us not forget that we saw our D-28 South
Mascot! We just had to take a picture with the Panda’s!
Anyway, it was nice to hear the Governor thank us for our
hard work.
