During my campus visits, parents often ask me about school lunches and how we can improve upon our current offerings. We have heard your feed- back and I am happy to announce that our Child Nutrition staff has unveiled a new lunch menu. The new menu includes locally sourced, minimally processed seasonal items. The best part is that we are able to improve lunch options for our scholars at no additional cost to our families. As we roll out our new menu we are also sharing a new policy that will ensure low meal costs for our families. In the last three years, we have seen our nega- tive lunch account balances increase exponentially, and our projected lunch ac- count loss is expected to top $500,000 by the end of the school year. This un- sustainable trend has the potential to take valuable resources away from our classrooms if allowed to continue. For this reason, starting in January 6, 2016, your school will start to provide alternative meals to scholars with a negative lunch account balance exceeding $10. The alternative lunch will contain enough calories to help a scholar through the day but will not contain a main course. In the coming weeks, parents with a negative balance will receive a letter in the mail regarding re-payment. Parents can bring their scholar lunch account balance current by making payment at the campus office or at https:// www.myschoolbucks.com. Payment arrangements can be made by contacting your campus. Parents requiring assistance with free or reduced cost lunch can apply today at https://uplift.rocketscanapps.com/ or call the school for assistance with the appli- cation. The free and reduced meal application does a lot more than just help parents defer meal costs. A portion of our overall school funding comes from the information we receive from free and reduced meal applications. Even parents who feel like they don’t qualify or who pack their child’s lunches, should fill out an application. If you have questions about your balance, free or reduced cost lunch status, need help with the free and reduced meal application, or to make payment please contact your campus Kitchen Manager. Dear Uplift Parents,

Thank you for your continued partnership in the education of your scholar and your input regarding improvements in the scholar experience at Uplift schools. During my campus visits, parents often ask me about school lunches and how we can improve upon our current offerings. We have heard your feed-back and I am happy to announce that our Child Nutrition staff has unveiled a new lunch menu. The new menu includes locally sourced, minimally processed seasonal items. Senior College March On December 11th, we will have our College March for Seniors. It is when seniors march to a mailbox to symbolically submit their college applications. It is a national event and Peak K-12 will be participating. The event will start at 8:30 am, you may stay after carline; gates will close at 8:40 am. The march should be over by 9:30 am. We are inviting all parents to stand in the crowd and cheer our Seniors on as they march to the mailbox. Bring your noisemakers and lets cheer for our Seniors!

Parents, remember that CA Testing starts this week and will continue through the remainder of the semester. Help your scholar by ensuring that he/she studies, gets a good nights rest and eats a healthy breakfast.
