THE SECOND OKLAHOMA PROSTATE AND UROLOGIC CANCERS SYMPOSIUM is held through the University of Oklahoma and

the Stephenson Cancer Center to provide new insights in

the treatment of prostate and urologic cancers. This single-

day program will consist of lectures and case discussions

highlighting a multidisciplinary approach to urologic cancer

care and integration of new technology in the evaluation

and treatment of prostate cancer patients. Evidence based

medicine highlighting relevant clinical trial data will be

provided as well as focusing on current controversies in

prostate cancer management.

INTENDED/TARGET AUDIENCESUrologists, Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists,

Primary Care and Advanced Practice Providers (NP and PA’s)

LEARNING OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this meeting, participants will improve

their competence and performance by being able to:

1. Describe guidelines for bladder cancer detection and

management.

2. Describe therapies and treatments for kidney cancer.

3. Identify the new genetic markers and their use in the

detection and management of prostate cancer.

4. Describe the risks and benefits of the various

treatment modalities for localized prostate cancer.

5. Identify strategies for improved quality of care in

survivorship for prostate cancer patients.

Michael S. Cookson, MD, MMHC Professor and ChairmanDepartment of UrologyOU College of Medicine

Kelly Stratton, MD Assistant ProfessorUrologic Oncology Department of Urology OU College of Medicine

Michael S. Cookson, MD, MMHC, is the Donald D. Albers Professor and

Chairman of the Department of Urology at the University of Oklahoma

College of Medicine. He is the Director of the Multidisciplinary Prostate and

Urologic Oncology Program at the Stephenson Cancer Center. He has 20

years of experience in the management of patients with prostate cancer.

Kelly Stratton, MD, is an assistant professor of Urologic Oncology in the

OU Department of Urology. Prior to joining the OU team, he completed his

fellowship training in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New

York. Dr. Stratton brings experience with state-of-the art imaging for the

diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

J. Brantley Thrasher, MD, FACS, is the William L. Valk Distinguished

Professor, Department of Urology, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

His clinical research interests are in the areas of prostate, bladder, and renal

cancer, as well as reconstruction, and he serves as the principal investigator

on numerous investigator initiated, industry funded, and institutionally

funded protocols.

Michael R. Harrison, MD Assistant ProfessorMedical Oncology Duke Cancer Institute

Michael R. Harrison, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke

Cancer Institute. Clinically, he treats solely patients with genitourinary (GU)

cancers. Research interests and experience include clinical trials of novel

therapies, including anti-angiogenics and immunotherapies, in GU tumors.

Dr. Harrison also has a strong research interests in health outcomes research

in RCC and in exercise and physical activity in GU cancer patients.
