Advantages The Second Avenue Subway Project will provide easier traveling for people both taking the subway, and people driving automobiles. The subway will ease up traf-fic in the city and in suburban areas. Phase one alone of the project is expected to carry over 200,000 passen-gers during weekdays. This subway will go along Second Avenue from 96th Street to 63rd Street. Commuting will be-come faster for everyone because of the reduction of traffic on the roads.

Construction for the Second Avenue Subway Project is on track as it reached a mile-stone. A boring machine broke through an existing tunnel in the subway station at Lexing-ton Avenue and 63rd Street. This milestone completes over two miles of tunnels to extend the service of the Q train from 96th Street to 63rd Street. The next milestone in the project will be to lay tracks, and install signals and communication features.
