• start revision early

• plan revision

• constantly seek advice/ assistance from teachers, parents & siblings

• work together with classmates

• set realistic & challenging targets

• learn from mistakes & failures

• believe in your capacity & capability

What can parents do to help their child cope with exam stress? Help your child organise study space

• Think about where is the best place for study. The study environment should be comfortable (not too cold, hot or noisy) for your child.

• Separate the studying space from the relaxing space so that your child can concentrate and keep distractions away.

Help your child organise time

• Make a list of what to study. Encourage your child to make a tick against each completed item so as to have a sense of achievement.

• Draw up a revision schedule and be realistic about how much can be achieved.

Help your child stay motivated

• Establish a work routine and help your child to follow faithfully.

• Start with the easier or more interesting subjects for revision.

Help your child improve concentration

• Encourage your child to take short breaks when tired eg, Go for a stroll or jog to distress.

• Eat healthily and exercise regularly.

Role of Parents: Strengthening Partnership with School

“BE THERE” for your child

• Believe in your child; emphasise on his/her strengths.

• Encourage your child to give his/her best.

• Treasure the process of learning, not just focus on the results.

• Help your child develop a structure and routine for studying.

• Expect realistically what your child is capable of and help him/her experience success.

• Recognise the symptoms of stress/anxiety and address them.

• Empathise with your child regarding the challenges he/she is facing.
