• Capital expenditure refers to the cost incurred or payments for the (i) purchase of non current asset (NCA), (ii) cost incurred to bring the NCA to ready to use condition e.g. legal cost to purchase, delivery, import duties and installation cost, COE for motor vehicle. (iii) long-term, permanent improvements to the NCA e.g. extension of premises ,change of engine that will extend the useful life of the NCA by years or increase its capacity.
• Such expenditure benefits several accounting years.

Working capital/Current ratio = sliabilitie Current
assets Current=
000 $16
400 $40 = 2.53 :1
Quick ratio = sliabilitie Current
sPrepayment -Inventory - assets Current =
000 $16
$9400 = 0.59:1
The current ratio has worsened/deteriorated from 4.16:1 in 2014 to 2.53 in 2015. However, this is above the acceptable norm of 2:1
The quick ratio has worsened/deteriorated from 1.10:1 in 2014 to 0.59:1 in 2015. The ratio for 2015 has fallen below the acceptable norm of 1:1.
This means that in the current year, the business only has $0.59 of liquid resources to meet every $1 of current liabilities indicating that the business may have difficulties meeting immediate demands for payment by creditors.
The fall in liquidity is likely due to - the increase in inventory from $20 000 in 2014 to $31 000 in 2015. A huge increase in
inventory may mean funds are tied up/ Increase in storage costs/ increase risk in inventory obsolescence.
The bank balance has worsened since cash at bank has deteriorated from a positive cash at bank balance of $3 000 in 2014 to a bank overdraft of $6 700 in 2015.
