PROGRAM:
Thelibrary cultivates a more refined approach by organizing itself into spatial compartments, each dedicated to, and equipped for, specific duties. Tailored flexibility remains possible within each compartment, but without the threat of one section hindering the others.By Combining like with like, they identified programmatic clusters: five of stability
These are the and four programmatic clusters of instability which have been incorporated into the library
The spaces which are shown act as platforms function as trading floors where librarians inform and stimulate, where the interface between the different platforms is organizedspaces for work, interaction, and play.
By arranging the collection in a continuous ribbonrunning from 000 to 999the subjects form a coexistence that approaches the organic; each evolves relative to the others, occupying more or less space on the ribbon, but never forcing a rupture.
A structural steel and glass skin unifies the multifaceted form and defines the public spaces in-between.
this whole building utilizes day lighting concept to its maximum capacity and offers its users the most sophisticated reading experience by offering them the extensive amount of knowledge Koolhaas sees the new library as a custodian of the book, a showcase for new information, a place for thought, discussion and reflection - a dynamic presence.
