General informationThis manual contains information, recommendations, advice and warningsrelated to your radio system. The other publications in the vehicle documen-tation contain further information of which you should be aware for yourown safety and for that of your passengers.

Ensure that the onboard documentation is kept in the vehicle at all times.This is especially important when lending or selling the vehicle to anotherperson.

This manual contains a description of the equipment supplied with the ve-hicle at the time of press. Some of the units described herein will not beavailable until a later date or is only available in certain markets.

The illustrations are intended as a general guide and may vary from theequipment fitted in your vehicle in some details.

The screen colour and the colour of the information displayed on it can varyaccording to vehicle model.

The images in this manual correspond to the colour screen variant, there isalso a monochrome screen option.

Directions and positions of components (e.g. right, left, front, rear) are al-ways relative to the direction of travel of the vehicle unless otherwise sta-ted.

The equipment marked with an asterisk is only supplied as standard incertain model versions, is optional in others or is only available in spe-cific countries.

Travelling on today's roads requires the driver's full attention at all times.

Only operate the radio system and its various functions when the traffic sit-uation really permits this.

● High audio volume may represent a danger to you and to others.

● Adjust the volume in a way that you can distinguish surroundingnoise, for example, horns and sirens, etc.

Introduction

Before using the unit for the first time

Before using the unit for the first time, carry out the following steps. Thiswill enable you to use the unit safely and make full use of the functions itprovides:

Observe the basic safety notes . ⇒ page 4.

Familiarise yourself with the unit overview. ⇒ page 6.

Use suitable data media for Media mode. ⇒ page 20.

Safety notes

WARNING

Accidents and injuries can occur if the driver is distracted. Operating theinfotainment system while driving can distract your attention from thetraffic.

● Always drive carefully and responsibly.

● Select volume settings that allow you to easily hear signals from out-side the vehicle at all times (e.g. emergency service sirens).

● Setting the volume too high may damage your hearing. This also ap-plies if you are exposed to high volumes for short periods only.

WARNING

The volume level may suddenly change when you switch audio source orconnect a new audio source.

● Reduce the base volume before switching audio source or connectinga new audio source ⇒ page 9.

WARNING

Connecting, inserting or removing a data medium while the vehicle is inmotion can distract you from the road and lead to accidents.

WARNING

Connecting leads for external devices may obstruct the driver.

● Arrange the connecting leads so that they do not obstruct the driver.

WARNING

External devices that are placed loose in the vehicle or not properly se-cured could be flung though the interior and cause injuries during a sud-den driving or braking manoeuvre, or in the event of an accident.

● You should never position or attach an external device on a door, onthe windscreen or above or near to the areas marked “AIRBAG” on thesteering wheel, the dash panel and the seat backrests, or between theseareas and the vehicle occupants. External devices can cause serious in-jury in an accident, especially when the airbags inflate.

An armrest may obstruct the driver's arm movements, which could causeaccidents and severe injuries.

● Always keep the armrest closed while the vehicle is in motion.

WARNING

Opening the housing on a CD player can lead to injuries from invisible la-ser radiation.

● CD players should only be repaired by a qualified workshop.

NoteNot inserting the data medium correctly, or inserting unsuitable data media,may damage the unit.

● When inserting the memory card, make sure it is in the correct position⇒ page 24

● If you push too hard, you could damage the lock on the memory cardslot.

● Only use suitable memory cards.

● When inserting and removing CDs, always hold them at right angles tothe front of the unit. Inserting or removing them at an angle to the drive maylead to scratching ⇒ page 24.

● The CD slot is equipped with a lock function. Do not force CDs into theslot. The unit must be prepared for loading before a CD can be inserted⇒ page 24.

● If you insert a CD while another is being ejected, this could damage theCD player unit. Always wait until the CD has been ejected.

Note● The CD drive can be damaged by any foreign objects attached to a datamedium, and by irregularly shaped data media.

● Only use standard 12 cm CDs! Do not stick stickers or other items to thedata medium. Stickers may peel off and damage the drive.

● Do not use printable data media. Films and stickers may peel off anddamage the drive.

● Do not insert 8 cm “single” CDs or those that are not round (Shape-CDs),or DVDs.

● Do not insert DVD Plus discs, dual discs or flip discs, as these are thickerthan normal CDs.

● The maximum length of a USB device connected to the port of the vehi-cle is 55 mm with the glove compartment closed.

NoteThe vehicle loudspeakers may be damaged if the volume is too high or thesound is distorted.

Introduction

Note● Lightly pressing the buttons or briefly pressing the touchscreen is suffi-cient to operate the unit.

● It is possible that not all the functions and function buttons are availa-ble as the software of the unit responds to the specific characteristics ofeach market. A missing function button on the screen is not the result of anerror in the unit.

● Due to country-specific legislation, certain functions cannot be selectedon the screen when the vehicle is travelling above a certain speed.

● Using a mobile phone inside the vehicle can cause noise in the speak-ers.

● There may be restrictions on the use of Bluetooth devices in some coun-tries. Information is available from the local authorities.

● In some vehicles equipped with a parking distance warning system, thevolume of the audio source is automatically lowered when the gear is en-gaged.

● If the steering wheel includes the voice control button, this function isnot viable with this radio model, hence it has no functionality whatsoever.

Rotary push knobs and buttons

Rotary/push knobs

The left-hand rotary/push knob ⇒ Fig. 1 1 is referred to as the volume con-trol or the on/off switch.

The right-hand rotary/push knob ⇒ Fig. 1 4 is referred to as the settingknob.

Infotainment buttons

In these instructions, the unit's buttons are represented with the word “info-tainment button” and their function is shown inside a rectangle (for exam-ple: MEDIA infotainment button ⇒ Fig. 1.

The infotainment buttons are operated by pressing them or holding themdown.

Switching on and off

To switch the unit on or off manually, briefly press the rotary push knob ⇒ Fig. 1 1 .

When the unit is switched on the system starts up. The last active audiosource will be played with the volume set, as long this does not exceed themaximum, predefined switch-on volume ⇒ page 47.

The unit will switch off automatically when the vehicle key is removed. If youturn the unit back on after the engine has been switched off, it will turn offautomatically after approximately 30 minutes (delayed switch-off).

Note● The unit is linked to the vehicle. It cannot be used in any other vehicle.

● If only the battery has been disconnected from the vehicle, the vehiclemust be started before turning the unit back on.

Adjusting the base volume

Increase the vol-ume.

Turn the volume control clockwise or turn the thumbwheel upwards on the multifunction steeringwheel ⇒ Booklet Instruction Manual.

Lower the vol-ume.

Turn the volume control anticlockwise or the thumb-wheel downwards on the multifunction steeringwheel.

The volume modification is shown on the screen with a bar. During this timethe unit cannot be operated.

It is possible to preset certain volume settings and adjustments⇒ page 47.

Silence the unit

● Turn the volume control anticlockwise until you see .

● OR: Press the MUTE infotainment button or the SILENCE function button⇒ Fig. 31).

While the unit is in silence, the active media source is stopped. is dis-played on the screen.

NoteIf the basic playback volume of an audio source has been increased sub-stantially, lower the volume before changing to another audio source.

The active areas of the screen that represent a function are called “functionbuttons” and are used by pressing them briefly on the display or holding

them down. The function buttons are represented in the instructions withthe word “function buttons” and the button symbol - - - .

● Search for an element in the list by turning the setting knob: each entryon the list will appear marked, one-by-one, until you find your desired entry.

● Press the setting knob to activate the selected list entry.

Scrolling through the list

If a list contains more elements than can be viewed on the screen, a scrollbar will be shown on the right of the screen ⇒ Fig. 2 D .

● Moving through a list, line-by-line: turn the setting knob.

● To quickly scan through a long list: Place your finger on the scroll markerand move it downwards over the screen without losing contact. Lift your fin-ger off the screen when you reach the desired position.

Additional information and display options

The information on the screen can vary depending on the settings and maydiffer from the descriptions shown here.

The main screens show the current time and outdoor temperature.

All information is displayed just after fully starting up the infotainment sys-tem.

● Select the frequency band by pressing the RADIO infotainment button orthe function button BAND on the touchscreen.

In the RADIO main menu you can store stations of the frequency band selec-ted at that time, using the 12 numbered function buttons. These functionbuttons are called "stored station buttons".

Activating a sta-tion using thestored stationbuttons

Press the stored stations button corresponding to therequired station. Activate a stored station using the stor-ed stations button only if it can be received in the placewhere you are at that moment.

Change thegroup of storedstations buttons

Press the function button, BAND ⇒ Fig. 7. The stored sta-tion buttons are displayed in groups with 4 function but-tons, respectively (from 1.. to 4.. , 5.. to 8.. and 9.. to12.. ).

If the radio text can be seen, but the stored station but-tons cannot, press radio text to display the stored sta-tion buttons again.

Select the frequency band

Press the function button or ⇒ Fig. 7. This willchange between stored or available stations, dependingon the setup of the arrow buttons. Arrow buttons setupin the Setup (FM, AM) menu ⇒ page 18.

Tuning to a sta-tion from thestation list

Press the function button Stations ⇒ Fig. 7 to open thelist of stations. Go through the list and select the de-sired station by pressing it. Press the function button,Back ⇒ Fig. 8 to return to the previous screen.

Updating thestation list

The list of stations in the FM frequency band is automat-ically updated. In the AM frequency band, press thefunction button Update to update the station list.

Press the function button, Stations ⇒ Fig. 5 to openthe station list.Press and hold the station you want to select on thescreen until it appears.Press the stored station button you where you want tostore the station until the storing screen is displayed.A signal will sound and the station will then be savedin that stored station button.To continue to store stations from the list, press backand repeat the process.

Deleting a storedstation

The stored stations can be deleted one-by-one or allat once in the FM AM setup menu.

Scan function (SCAN)

When the scan function is running, all available stations on the current fre-quency band are played in sequence for around 5 seconds each.

Press the function button OFF to stop the scan functionon the station you are listening to.OR: Briefly press the setting knob. The scan function al-so ends when you manually select a station using thestored station buttons, or when a traffic report comes in.

Autostore (automatic station storing)

Hold the RADIO button down for approximately 5 seconds to carry out theautostore function for the stations that can be tuned in at the time of run-ning the Autostore. The stations are stored in the stored station buttons (on-ly the first bank of each frequency band is stored).

NoteThis function can take several minutes, during which time the radio will re-main muted. In addition, any stored stations assigned previously will be de-leted.

Radio data services RDS

The RDS (Radio Data System) offers additional information in FM such as thevisualisation of the station name, automatic station tracking (AF), text emit-ted by radio (Radio Text ⇒ Fig. 5), traffic reports (TP) and programme type(PTY).

Not all units have RDS, nor do all FM stations offer this service.

Without RDS it is not possible to obtain radio data services.

Note● The broadcasting companies are responsible for the content broadcast.

● Due to infrastructure issues, RDS functions may be limited in certaincountries, and you may not be able to use traffic reports, automatic stationtracking (AF) or programme types (PTY).

● In some cases the name of the station is too long. This text may beblocked/unblocked by pressing on the station name for 3 seconds. Twoicons will appear (wave + locked) on the right of the screen at mid height.

Station name and automatic station tracking

When the RDS is available, you can view the names of the stations provid-ing this service in the RADIO main menu and in the list of FM stations.

The FM stations send different content under one name (for example, Radio3) in various regional frequencies, provisionally or permanently ⇒ Fig. 5.

When driving, the automatic station tracking automatically changes to thefrequency that provides the best reception of the currently-selected station.However, this can interrupt the regional station currently tuned.

The automatic change of frequencies and automatic station tracking can belinked through the FM setup ⇒ page 18.

With the RDS activated, stations may provide information on the their con-tent (news, music, culture, etc.). As seen in figure ⇒ Fig. 9, it is possible tofilter stations by their content.

Some RDS-compatible stations also broadcast additional text informationknown as radio text.

Traffic news monitoring with the TP function is only possible if the TP stationis available. The traffic report stations are indicated in the Radio main menuand in the list of stations by displaying TP ⇒ Fig. 11 and ⇒ Fig. 12.

Some stations that do not broadcast their own traffic news support the TPfunction through a link to a traffic news station (EON).

The TP function is not available in certain countries. In this case, “TP” willnot appear on screen and the button will be deactivated.

Switching the TP function on and off

● In the menu Setup (FM, AM), press the function button Traffic Program TP toactivate or deactivate this function ⇒ page 18.

If the station you are listening to at that time does not have the TP function,half-way up the screen on the left TP will be displayed crossed out.

Activated TP function and station selection

While the traffic news monitoring is operative, in audio mode TP will be dis-played half-way up the screen on the left ⇒ Fig. 11. In this case, the trafficreports of the current station or of the station that broadcasts the corre-sponding traffic information will be played.

In FM mode, the station tuned in must have the TP function. If, after activat-ing the TP function, you manually select or use the stored station buttons toselect a station that does not have the TP function, it will not check if thereare traffic reports (display: TP crossed out).

When the traffic report station that is tuned in stops being received, TP willalso be displayed crossed out, and you must search for a station manually.

During operation in AM or Media mode, a traffic report station is always setautomatically in the background, provided there is one that can be tuned in.Depending on your location, this process can take some time.

Reception of a traffic report

An incoming traffic report will interrupt the active audio mode.

During the broadcast of the traffic report a pop-up window will appear and,if necessary, the radio will change to the station of the traffic report (EON)for the duration of the broadcast.

Media mode is interrupted and the volume is adjusted according to the pre-set volume ⇒ page 47.

The volume of the traffic report can be modified with the volume control ⇒ Fig. 1 1 . The modified volume will be stored for future traffic reports.

● Press the function button Cancel to end the current traffic report. The TPfunction remains switched on.

Introduction

Media sources are audio sources containing audio files on various differentdata media (for example, external MP3 player). These audio files can beplayed by the infotainment system from its corresponding drives or audioinput sockets (internal CD changer, memory card slot, AUX-IN multi-mediasocket etc.).

Media source and audio file requirements

Factory-fitted CD players conform to safety class 1 according to standardDIN IEC 76 (CO) 6/ VDE 0837.

The unit only accepts 12-cm standard CDs and memory cards with the di-mensions 32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm or 1.4 mm.

The supported file formats listed are collectively referred to below as "audiofiles". CDs containing this type of audio file are referred to as “audio dataCD”.

Media sources Requirements for playing in the unit

Audio CDs (up to 80 min). – CD Digital Audio specification .

Audio data CD, CD-ROM, CD-R,CD-RW with a maximum of 700Mb (megabytes) in accordancewith ISO 9660 levels 1 and 2 filesystem, Joliet or UDF 1.02, 1.5,2.01, 2.5. The unit may be unable to read individual tracks or the entire data mediumdue to the data medium configuration or the devices and programs used for

recording. Information can be found on the internet regarding the best waysto create audio files and data media (compression rate, ID3 tag etc.).

Depending on the size, its condition due to use (copy and delete process-es), the folder structure and file type, the read time of the data media usedcan vary considerably.

Playlists only determine a certain playing order. There are no files stored ina playlist. The unit will not play a playlist if the files are not on the data me-dium at the locations referred to by the playlist (relative file paths).

Note● Do not use adaptors for memory cards.

Inserting and ejecting a CD

The internal CD player can play audio CDs and audio data CDs.

Inserting a CD

● Keep the printed side of the CD facing upwards.

● Push the CD into the CD slot only to the point where it is drawn in auto-matically.

● When the CD is inserted, playback will start automatically.

Ejecting CDs

● Press the unit button.

● The CD in the drive will be ejected and must be removed within 10 sec-onds.

If you do not remove the CD in the following 10 seconds, it will be drawnback in for safety reasons, without changing to CD mode.

Unreadable or defective CD

If the data on the inserted CD cannot be read or the CD is damaged, the cor-responding indication will be shown on the screen.

Depending on the unit, when a CD cannot be read it will retry three times,ejecting and reinserting the CD, before showing the indication.

Note● Uneven road surfaces and strong vibrations may cause the CD to jump.

● If the interior temperature of the unit is too high, it will not accept or playthe CD.

● If you insert a number of different CDs and receive the message CD driveerror every time, contact a specialised workshop.

Inserting and removing memory cards

Inserting a memory card

If a memory card cannot be inserted, ensure that it is positioned correctlyand is compatible with the unit.

Playback starts automatically if supported audio files are stored on thememory card.

Removing a memory card

The memory card inserted must be prepared before it is ejected.

● Press the function button Setup to open the menu Media setup.

● Press the function button, Eject SD card safely . After the system closes thememory card, a message will appear on the screen indicating that the cardcan be removed.

● Press the memory card inserted. The memory card jumps to the eject po-sition.

● Remove the memory card.

Unreadable memory card

If you insert a memory card containing data that cannot be read, the unitwill not change to memory card mode after loading. It will show the corre-sponding indication.

External media player connected via Bluetooth®

In Bluetooth audio mode, audio files from an external audio source that isconnected via Bluetooth®, for example a mobile phone (Bluetooth audioplayback), can be played over the vehicle speakers.

The Bluetooth audio source must be compatible with the Bluetooth A2DPprofile.

Starting sound transmission via Bluetooth

● Reduce the base volume of the infotainment system.

● Pair or connect the Bluetooth audio source with the Bluetooth interfacefrom the mobile preinstallation, according to the operating instructions.

Starting playback over the vehicle loudspeakers

In Media Setup, the default setup Bluetooth audio autoplay is deactivated. Af-ter making the connection with the Bluetooth audio source, Bluetooth audiomode must be selected manually.

● If you require the system to change to Bluetooth audio automaticallyeach time the connection is established with the connected Bluetooth au-dio source, you can activate the setup Bluetooth audio autoplay in Media Set-up.

● In the MEDIA main menu, press the function button, MEDIA ⇒ Fig. 15and select Bluetooth audio .

Once playback of the Bluetooth audio source has finished, the infotainmentsystem will remain in Bluetooth audio mode.

Controlling playback

The extent to which the Bluetooth audio source can be controlled via the in-fotainment system depends on the Bluetooth audio source connected.

Media players with the AVRCP Bluetooth profile, the playback of the Blue-tooth audio source can be started and stopped automatically when chang-ing to Bluetooth audio mode, or to another audio source. In addition, it ispossible to view or change the track via the infotainment system.

It is possible to connect a device as a player and another as hands-free atthe same time.

Note● Due to the large number of different Bluetooth audio sources available,it is not possible to guarantee fault-free operation of all functions describedhere.

● Deactivate the service and warning sounds of a connected Bluetooth au-dio source (for example, the key tones of the mobile phone) to avoid inter-ference noise and anomalies in the operation.

● To play music, do not link the external media player simultaneously toBluetooth and the USB interface of the infotainment system, as this cancause limitations during playback.

● Depending on the external player connected, the response time of thesystem can vary.

The arrow buttons do not allow you to change playlist. A playlist must bestarted manually through the track selection menu.

Depending on the market and the features, the vehicle may have a USB -AUX-IN connection ⇒ Fig. 20.

The infotainment system enables you to play and manage audio files froman external data medium connected to the USB/AUX-IN multimedia inter-face.

Where this manual refers to external data media, this means USB mass stor-age devices containing supported audio files, such as MP3 players and USBsticks.

The USB - AUX-IN multimedia interface supplies the usual USB voltage of 5volts.

● If the sound from the connected external audio source is too loud or dis-torted, if possible, lower the output volume on the external audio source. Ifthis is not sufficient, reduce the input volume.

In the case of multimedia players and depending on the battery charge andthe quantity of data, it may take a few minutes for them to be ready for use.

If the data medium has several partitions, only the first partition will be rec-ognised.

Take into account all other instructions and limitations regarding require-ments for media sources ⇒ page 20.

Note● Read and bear in mind the manufacturer's instruction manual for the ex-ternal data medium.

● The connecting adaptor used must not be crushed or bent sharply. Thiscould damage the adaptor and cause operational faults.

● To play music, do not simultaneously link the external media player tothe infotainment system using Bluetooth and the USB/AUX-IN multimediainterface, as this can cause limitations in the playback.

● The use of USB cable extensions and USB hubs may cause operating er-rors.

Before connecting or playing an external data medium, turn down the vol-ume on the infotainment system ⇒ page 9.

Connecting and disconnecting an external data medium

● Connect a 3.5 mm Jack cable to the AUX-IN interface (the cable is notsupplied).

● If necessary, switch on the external data medium or select the appropri-ate data mode.

Regardless of any indications to the contrary that there may be on the mat-ter, the external data medium can be disconnected from the USB/AUX-INmultimedia interface at any time without losing the data.

Operating the infotainment system

An external data medium that is correctly connected to the USB/AUX-IN mul-timedia interface can be operated using the infotainment system.

● In the MEDIA menu press the function button, MEDIA ⇒ Fig. 21.

● In the pop-up window, press the function buttons USB or AUX .

Other operations with the external data medium (changing tracks, selectingtracks and activating playback modes) are carried out as described in thecorresponding chapters ⇒ page 26.

Possible error messages after connecting an external data medium

Introduction to telephone management

The telephone functions described below can be managed through the info-tainment system provided a mobile phone is paired and connected to theinfotainment system.

● Linking and connecting a mobile phone to the infotainment system.

The requirement for establishing a connection between a mobile phone andthe infotainment system is that the mobile phone has Bluetooth®.

When there is no mobile phone linked to the infotainment system, tele-phone management is not available.

Please refer to the notes on how to use mobile telephones in vehicles with-out connection to the exterior antenna ⇒ Booklet Instruction Manual, chap-ter Accessories and technical modifications.

WARNING

Making calls and managing the preinstallation for mobile phones whiledriving can distract you from the traffic and cause an accident.

● Always stay alert and drive responsibly.

● Select volume settings that allow you to easily hear signals from out-side the vehicle at all times (e.g. emergency service sirens).

● In areas with no or poor network coverage, under certain circumstan-ces in tunnels, garages and underpasses, telephone conversations maycut out or it may be impossible to make calls, even in an emergency.

WARNING

A loose or incorrectly secured mobile phone could be thrown inside thevehicle and cause injury in the event of sudden manoeuvres, braking oraccidents.

● While driving, the mobile phone must always be correctly secured,outside of the working radius of the airbag.

WARNING

If you carry a mobile phone that is switched on directly over a pacemaker,this may cause interference in its functioning.

● Between the antenna of the mobile phone and the pacemaker theremust be a minimum distance of 20 centimetres for the mobile phone notto affect the functioning of the pacemaker.

● Do not carry your mobile phone in your breast pocket, directly overthe pacemaker, when it is switched on.

● If you suspect your mobile phone is causing interference, switch it offimmediately.

Note● Telephone conversations inside the vehicle can be affected by highspeed, poor atmospheric conditions and the road surface, as well as by thequality of the network.

● The instructions that appear on the screen related to the menu of eachphone depend on the mobile phone used. There may be differences.

● Take into account the instruction manuals of the mobile phone and thesupplier of the accessories, and any instructions for using the headset.

● In areas with poor coverage there may be anomalies in the receptionand calls may be interrupted.

● Consult the compatibility list to ensure your mobile phone will workproperly.

● If you detect any strange behaviour between your mobile phone and theradio, restart your mobile by switching it off and on again.

● Most electronic devices are shielded against high-frequency radio sig-nals. On certain occasions, nevertheless, electronic equipment might notbe protected against the radio frequency signals of the telephone manage-ment (Phone). This may produce interference.

Places with special regulations

Switch off the mobile phone and the preinstallation for mobile telephonesin places with risk of explosion. These areas are common but are not alwaysclearly marked ⇒ in Introduction to telephone management on page 31.They include, for example:

● Areas with piping and reservoirs containing chemical products.

● Below deck, on boats and ferries.

● Near vehicles that run on liquefied gas (such as propane or butane).

● In places where there are chemical substances or particles such as flour,dust or metal chips in the air.

● In any other place where you must turn off the engine of your vehicle.

WARNING

Switch off your mobile phone in places with risk of explosion! Your mo-bile phone will automatically connect to the mobile phone network assoon as the Bluetooth connection is cut from the mobile preinstallation.

NoteIn areas with special requirements and where the use of mobile phones isprohibited, you must keep the mobile phone and its preinstallation switch-ed off at all times. The radiation emitted by mobile phones when switchedon can cause interference in sensitive technical and medical equipment,which could damage this equipment or cause it to stop working properly.

Linking and connecting your mobile phone tothe infotainment system

To operate a mobile phone through the infotainment system, you need tolink both devices one time only.

For your safety, we recommend you carry out this connection when the vehi-cle is stationary. In some countries you cannot perform the pairing with thevehicle running.

You must guarantee the following setup in the mobile phone and the info-tainment system:

● The Bluetooth® function must be active and visible on the mobile phoneand infotainment system, respectively.

● The keypad lock of the mobile phone must be disconnected.

● The notification and key tones of your mobile phone must be disconnec-ted.

In some countries, after switching the ignition on, the Bluetooth® functionof the infotainment system must be activated or remain visible for around 3minutes.

During the linking process you must enter data using your mobile phone'skeypad. To do so, you must have your mobile phone to hand.

Once the link has been made, the schedule and call lists stored in your mo-bile phone will be loaded. The duration of the loading process depends onthe amount of data stored on your mobile phone. When the loading processis complete, the data will be available to the infotainment system.

Starting the link from the system

Make sure the mobile device is active and visible.

● Press the PHONE unit button.

● Press the function button Find .

● Press the PHONE unit button.

The search process can take up to 1 minute. On the screen the system willdynamically update the names of the Bluetooth devices found.

● Select the mobile phone to which you want to pair from the list of Blue-tooth devices found.

Select the profile you want to connect:

Connect all profiles: will connect all the profiles available by mobile andcompatible with the system

Hands-free: will connect the hands-free profile

Bluetooth audio: will connect the Bluetooth audio profile

The infotainment system and the mobile phone will now be connected toeach other. In certain circumstances, it is possible that to finish the connec-tion between the two devices, you must enter additional data in the mobilephone and infotainment system.

● If necessary, confirm the pairing request in the mobile phone.

● Use your mobile phone to enter and confirm your PIN code, as indicatedin the display of the infotainment system.

● OR: Compare the PIN code shown in the display of the infotainment sys-tem with the PIN code that appears on the mobile phone. If they coincide,you must confirm it on both devices.

Once pairing is complete, the PHONE main menu will be shown.

Linking and connecting mobile telephones

You can pair up to 20 mobile phones to the infotainment system, but onlyone mobile phone can be connected as hands-free, and another device as aBluetooth audio profile.

When you turn on the infotainment system the connection is automaticallyestablished with the mobile phone that was last connected. If it cannot es-tablish a connection with that mobile phone, the phone manager will auto-matically try to establish a connection with the next mobile phone that ap-pears on the list of linked devices.

The working radius of the Bluetooth connection is a maximum of 10 metres.If this working radius is exceeded, the connection established through Blue-tooth will be interrupted. The connection is automatically re-established assoon as this device comes back into the Bluetooth working radius.

If the maximum number of linked devices is reached and you wish to linkanother one to the system, it will automatically replace the one that has re-cently been used the least. If you wish to replace it with another one, theuser must erase it beforehand. To do so:

● Press the unit button Setup within the telephone context.

● Press the function button Bluetooth setup .

● Press the function button My devices .

● In the list of paired devices, press the function button remove after themobile phone to be deleted and then press Delete to confirm the process.

● For some android mobile devices you must accept the request to accessthe PBAP phonebook after linking, to be able to access the phonebook. It isrecommended to activate the option “always” so as not to have to accept itevery time you connect.

Only use devices that support Bluetooth. At your SEAT dealership, or on theInternet, you will find information about products that support Bluetooth.

Take into account the instruction manual of the mobile phone and of themanufacturer of the accessories. In areas with poor coverage there may beanomalies in the reception and calls may be interrupted.

Most electronic devices are shielded against radio frequency signals (high-frequency). On some occasions, nevertheless, electronic devices cannot beprotected against the radio frequency signals from the telephone manager.This may produce interference.

Note● There may be restrictions on the use of Bluetooth devices in some coun-tries. Information is available from the local authorities.

● To connect the phone manager to a device via Bluetooth technology,read the corresponding instruction manual for the particular safety instruc-tions. Only use products that support Bluetooth.

Bluetooth®

Bluetooth®

Bluetooth technology is used to connect a mobile phone to the vehicle'sphone manager. To use the phone manager with a mobile phone with Blue-tooth, the pairing process must be performed once.

If a connection has already been established, some mobile phones withBluetooth are recognised and a connection is established with them auto-matically when the ignition is switched on. For this purpose, the mobilephone and its Bluetooth must be switched on, and all the live Bluetoothconnections with other devices must be closed.

The Bluetooth wireless connection is free.

Bluetooth profiles®

When you connect a mobile phone to the phone manager, the data ex-change is through one of the 2 Bluetooth profiles.

● Hands-free Bluetooth profile (HFP): If a mobile phone is connected tothe telephone manager through the HFP, calls can be made wirelesslythrough the hands-free device.

● Advanced audio profile (A2DP): Bluetooth profile for transmitting audiosignals with stereo quality.

Description of the telephone manager

Some functions and settings can only be carried out when the vehicle is sta-tionary, and are not compatible with all mobile telephones.

The telephone manager described in these instructions is approved for useon the following networks: GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900.

With the help of the telephone manager, up to 2 mobile telephones can beconnected to the infotainment system via the Bluetooth profiles (for exam-ple, one used as a Bluetooth-audio player and another as a hands-free tele-phone).

Note● Using a mobile phone inside the vehicle may provoke noise in thespeakers.

● It is possible that some networks may not offer the characters of all lan-guages, nor certain services.

After the first connection, it will take a few minutes for the data from thephonebook of the paired mobile phone to be available in the infotainmentsystem.

Assign a user profile

In phone management, the entries stored in the phone book and the calllist are assigned to the user profile, and also stored in the user profile. Assoon as you connect the corresponding mobile phone with the telephonemanagement, they will be available once more.

If entries are modified in the phonebook of the mobile phone, you can up-date the phonebook data manually through the menu User profile setup⇒ page 40.

Telephone management lets you store a maximum of 4 user profiles for mo-bile telephones. If you wish to link/connect another mobile phone, the old-est user profile will automatically be replaced.

NoteThe new number will not be saved in the phonebook, and only be used tomake the call.

You can directly access the contacts in the phonebooks that start with thecharacter selected via these keys.

If there are no contacts that coincide with the chosen character, the entrythat immediately follows is displayed.

Pressing multiple times in quick succession will search for the charactersshown on the button.

To select from the remaining alphabetical letters of the buttons, press andselect the corresponding option on the A-Z button in the upper left corneror by pressing the Phone button.

Telephone setup

In the main menu PHONE, press the Setup function button.


Select phone : select the phone to be paired to the infotainment system, orpress Find to connect a new device.

User profile : opens the menu User profile setup ⇒ page 40.

Select ring tone : select a ring tone from the list of predefined tones.

Bluetooth settings : opens the menu, Bluetooth setup ⇒ page 40.

Reverse order of call lists : with the checkbox selected, the call list entries areinverted (the oldest entry is shown at the top of the list).

Note● If your phone does not support the function, Select ring tone , this menuwill be disabled.

● In these cases the melody determined in the mobile phone will sound inthe vehicle speakers when a call is received.

● The tones may not sound if the phone set to silence/vibrate. You are ad-vised to configure your phone to audible.

Bluetooth setup

In the PHONE main menu, press the function button Setup and then pressBluetooth setup .


Bluetooth : press to switch off the Bluetooth in the system.

Visibility : activate and deactivate the Bluetooth “visibility” of the infotain-ment system using the function button . To link a mobile phone to theinfotainment system the visibility must be activated. With the settingAt start-up , visibility is disabled after a certain time. If you have a Bluetooth

audio device active and playing, the visibility is automatically set to “notvisible”.

Name : when you open this option it opens a keyboard, with which you canmodify the default name of the device.

My devices : shows the devices linked to the system.

In this menu connection/disconnection of the required profiles of theBluetooth device connections can be managed.When pressing a device a new screen will open with the availableprofiles.When a profile is pressed the system connects to this profile.If it is already connected to a profile it will disconnect the selectedprofile.

Find : looks for Bluetooth devices that are switched on and visible withinthe working radius of the infotainment system. The working radius is ap-proximately 10 metres.

A2DP Bluetooth audio : function button that activates and deactivates theuse of the radio as the Bluetooth receiver of the audio source.

User profile setup

In the main menu PHONE, press the function button Setup and then pressUser profile .


Memory in use : Displays the number of total contacts downloaded that con-tain at least one phone number, maximum of 2000 phones.

Sort by : determine the order sequence of the phonebook entries, by sur-name, first name, or by first name, surname.

Import contacts : press to import the phonebook of the telephone connected,or to update a phonebook that has already been imported.

NoteSome telephones require a restart to download the last contacts addedagain.

The onboard computer is equipped with 3 memories that work automatical-ly. In these memories you can see the distance travelled, average speed,time passed, average consumption and autonomy of the vehicle.

Since start

Indicates and stores the values of the journey completed and the consump-tion from when the ignition is switched on to when it is switched off.

Since refuel

Display and storage of the values for the journey and the consumption. Byrefuelling, the memory will be erased automatically.

Long-term

The memory records the values for a specific number of partial trips, up to atotal of 19 hours and 59 minutes or 99 hours and 59 minutes, or 1999.9 km(or miles) for 9999 km (or miles), depending on the model of instrumentpanel.

When one of these values is reached (depending on the version of the in-strument panel), the memory is automatically deleted and it starts countingfrom 0 again.

In the Easy Connect system it is also possible to perform various adjust-ments to the Climatronic.

● Press the Setup button

● OR: press the MENU button in Easy Connect. With the rotating switch se-lect the air conditioner menu and open it.

On the touch screen you can see and change the current settings, for exam-ple, the temperature set for the driver and passenger sides, the air distribu-tion and the fan speed. Driver and passenger temperatures are synchron-ised with the SYNC button.

To switch a function on or off, or to select a submenu, you must press thecorresponding function button.

Balance - Fader : adjust the orientation of the sound (balance/fader). The cir-cle displays the current orientation of the sound inside the vehicle. To cen-tre the orientation of the sound in the passenger compartment, press thebutton represented by two circles, located between the arrows, or adjustprogressively using the arrow buttons. Alternatively, to centre the orienta-tion of the sound in the passenger compartment, press the function but-ton located between the arrows, or press reset. This function can be modi-fied in the SOUND menu.

Equalizer : adjust sound setting characteristics (bass, mid-range and tre-ble). Press reset to lower the equalizer level to 0.

Mute : function button to activate MUTE.

Miniplayer : displays the active audio source (Radio or Media).

Setup : opens the Sound setup menu

Maximum switch-on volume : set the unit maximum volume when switchingon.Traffic announcements : set the playback volume of the incoming messag-

es (for example, traffic reports).Volume according to speed : determine the volume setting depending on

the speed. The audio volume increases automatically as the speed in-creases. Acoustic touchscreen feedback : the feedback when you press a function

button on the screen is activated.Volume AUX : determines the playback volume of the audio sources con-

nected via AUX.Bluetooth audio : configure Bluetooth audio volume.
