Neerim District Community Bank® Branch December 2015 “Bill Cummo” Award 2015. The ‘Bill Cumming Young Achiever Award’ is presented to a young person who has and is exhibiting the ideals espoused by the late ‘Bill Cumming’ of achieving their best in whatever field of endeavour they choose. Nominees are high achievers in their studies or vocation and always strive to achieve excellence in their lives and the pursuit of their goals. Wilson McGillivray from Jindivick this year’s ‘Bill Cumming Young Achiever Award’ winner has exhibited all these qualities. Wilson is 16 years old, resides in Jindivick and attends Marist Sion College in Warragul. It is in the field of sport, particularly cricket that Wilson excels. Wilson has played all of his junior cricket at Jindivick, winning numerous junior batting and bowling averages both at club and league level. Bowling is his forte. He has opened the bowling for Warragul District Cricket Association representative sides and has been successful in taking many wickets. This in turn led to him being selected in the Gippsland Pride Under 16 representative team in 2015 where he took the most wickets in the tournament and set a Gippsland Pride record in the process. His drive to succeed has resulted in him being approached by many District Cricket clubs but he has decided to play for the Melbourne Cricket Club in 2015/16 season. Wilson was selected for the Victorian Country Under 17 team to compete in the National Championships in Brisbane during September 2015. He has also been nominated as one of the 52 under 17 players to attend the Cricket Australia Rookie Squad training and development sessions. This squad is selected on perceived ability and potential and is considered the highest accolade for this age group bar Australian selection. Wilson currently trains six days per week and travels to Melbourne three days per week to train or play cricket at the highest level. Wilson was nominated by Derek Burridge, President of the Jindivick Cricket Club and Kerrie Bayne. bendigobank.com.au Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Limited, ABN 11 068 049 178 AFSL/Australian Credit Licence 237879.
