HELPFUL TIPS & TRICKS CHECK IN & OUT Our Front Desk is located in the Administration Building.

Your accommodations will be ready by 6:00 PM. If your room is not ready upon arrival, come participate in our programs and utilize our recreational facilities. Peruse the Activity Guide or stop by Sweet Memorial to find out what’s going on.

HEALTH AT HIGH ALTITUDE Altitude Sickness: YMCA of the Rockies is located at an elevation of 8,010 feet above sea level. Signs and symptoms of altitude sickness include headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. Get plenty of rest and drink water throughout the days prior to arrival, upon arrival, and throughout your stay.

BOONE FAMILY MOUNTAIN CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION: SUNDAY - THURSDAY 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM FRI & SAT 8:30 AM – 8:30 PM

ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE Located near Upper Cookout on the North end of our property, the brand new Mountain Center provides a base camp to launch outdoor and high-adventure activities such as hiking, an indoor climbing wall, biking, archery, and more!

PREPARE Plan out your next hike by speaking with one of our expert Hikemasters. You can pick up tips from the pros, get suggestions for where to go, and grab trail maps for the area. The Mountain Center houses a full gear shop where you can purchase gear you may need for your next adventure. We also rent microspikes, snowshoes, trekking poles, day packs, and child carriers.

DISCOVER The Mountain Center houses a hands-on education nature center designed to allow you to explore local flora and fauna and other natural wonders in the incredible Rocky Mountains. Be sure to check out the 3D topographic map and all the other interactive displays.

HIKINGHIKING INFORMATION DESK

Bordering Rocky Mountain National Park on three sides, we are blessed by an amazing hiking program. In the Mountain Center you will find our hiking information desk (Base Camp) where you can ask our Hikemasters questions, look up hikes in our guide books, grab a map, or sign up for a guided hike.

HIKE TO WHERE OUR HEARTS DESIRE

Saturdays from 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM

How fun! From November through April, we will decide the day's destination on the morning of our hike. All hikes will go into the mountains with great views along the way. Snow gear may be

needed. Microspikes, snowshoes and poles may be checked out from the Mountain Center. A credit card number is required but no

charges will be made unless equipment is not returned. PLEASE sign up for this hike ahead of time and call ext.1311 to cancel if you

decide not to go.

ADVENTURE ACTIVITIESINDOOR CLIMBING WALLCheck the Activity Guide for availability. Get your hands on our brand new indoor climbing wall that is molded to look and feel like real rock! Climb to the top of the 25-foot wall, or stay low to the ground on the bouldering wall. Climbing shoes and harnesses are provided and all participants will be given an introduction to the equipment and beginner climbing technique. This activity accommodates a wide range of abilities. Meet at the Mountain Center. Ages 5+, $10 per person

One of our favorite camp activities! Archery sessions are typically available on Friday,

FAMILY FUN JUST GOT “SWEET”ER Located west of the Administration Building parking lot, the Sweet Memorial Building is the hub of the Program Department. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about programs, come by or give us a call at 970-586-3341 ext. 1104.

CAMPFIRES Campfires are allowed in designated fire rings located throughout the property. Please call ext. 1104 to check fire ring availability. A fee of $25 includes use of the site and two bundles of wood. Firewood is for sale at Sweet Memorial, or at the Administration Building for $5.00 plus tax. We also have a few gas fire rings to use at no cost that are first come, first serve. Just dial “0” on any YMCA phone and ask security to get it started for you!

GAME ROOM Anyone for ping pong, billiards, or table shuffleboard? See our game room in the basement of the Sweet Memorial Building. We also have board games and puzzles to play here, or take back to your cabin!

FAMILY PROGRAMS We strive to provide a unifying experience for families through fun-filled naturesque activities. Our Program Department offers a variety of classes for you and your family to participate in together. From movie nights to classes about fire building and wildlife in Rocky Mountain National Park, our family programs are guaranteed to create lifelong memories. We offer activities geared towards your whole family, little learners, young adults, and on. ENGAGE CHILDREN EARLYFor families with children ages 5 and under. These programs allow young children time to experience the world with their family.

ANIMAL DETECTIVE Hike and learn about local animals and how to identify them.

BEAR TALK Learn about one of the Rocky Mountains’ most fascinating animals, the black bear. Take a look into the daily life of a bear and how they’re preparing for winter now!

BINGO Join other guests for an hour of fun! B-I-N-G-O!

INSTRUCTOR’S CHOICE Join our expert instructors to learn about a topic of their choice. Topics will be fun and family friendly!

KNOTS Knot tying is an essential backcountry skill. Learn a half hitch, bowline, and more useful knots!

MELTDOWN Snow on the mountains isn’t just good for skiing! Check out the incredible power of water as Spring comes and the meltdown starts!

PATHFINDER Learn how to follow a bearing and learn about maps and compasses.

STAR GAZING See what’s visible in our night sky as we look for constellations, planets, and other nifty night objects.

SURVIVAL Learn the importance of staying safe in the backcountry, what to do if you find yourself lost, and an introduction to how to build a shelter.

TREASURE TREK Put your thinking cap on and unravel clues that will lead you around property to find the treasure. Who knows where you’ll go or what you’ll find!

TRIVIA Get a team together and test your knowledge!

WILD WOODS Whoa! What are these white trees? And blue trees? Where are all the leaves? Our staff can answer these questions and more as we explore these wild mountain woods!

CHILDREN’S STORY TIME Act like a Weasel and POP by the Maude Jellison Library for stories about nature and animals.

LITTLE EXPLORERS Explorers use their eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and hands to observe and investigate the world around them. Take a walk with our facilitator and practice your exploring skills!

PARACHUTE GAMES Rise and fall with our big parachute as we play games on, under, and around the billowing parachute! !

SENSE SAFARI Let your little ones loose to explore with their sight, smell, touch, and listening skills! We’ll go on an adventure and use our senses to find the coolest things in the Rockies!

YOUNG ADULT + KEEP EXPLORINGDesigned with adults in mind.

CHESS CLUB Whether you’re a beginner or a skilled player, join others interested in this classic game of strategy. Come to the library to see who else shares your love of chess.

SCRABBLE TIME Come play old-school, hands-on, wood-tile Scrabble! Whether you’re a beginner or expert, bring along your interest in this classic word game.

WALK ABOUT THE Y Quarter-mile stroll. Explore the architectural and social history of the YMCA of the Rockies’ main campus. Discover the “who” behind the names on buildings and enjoy sculptures on the main promenade.

LONGHOUSE GYM Everyday 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM Enjoy a full sized gym with volleyball, basketball, and shuffleboard. The gym boasts two full sized courts. Basketballs and volleyballs available for use.

BOB ECKER ROLLERSKATING RINK Open daily in afternoons and evenings Located in the Longhouse Gym. Skates are provided and rollerblades are welcome. Check Activity Guide for closures throughout the week.

ADMINISTRATION FIELD Everyday The Administration Field is located outside of the main Administration Building. There are basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, gaga ball pits, horseshoe pits, a baseball diamond, and open field space. Equipment can be checked out from the Sweet Memorial Building.

MINI GOLF & TENNIS COURTS Everyday Located on the Administration Field, we have two mini golf courses. Try our 18-hole course or an easier 9-hole course with larger holes for younger children. Fun and challenging for the entire family. Equipment can be checked out from the Sweet Memorial Building.

HENRY DORSEY JR. MEMORIAL SWIMMING POOL Everyday Grab your suit and come visit our swimming pool for some fun in the water. Heated to 83 degrees and at a length of 25 yards you are sure to find room for relaxation and fun. Pool open daily for lap swim and open swim.

CLASSES

BADMINTON Looking to make a RAQUET? Jump in and get some of that energy out!

FLOOR HOCKEY Whether we get a full game going or just practice penalty shots, grab a stick and let’s go!

FRISBEE Ultimate Frisbee, Frisket, other Frisbee games, or practicing your toss, come let it fly with us!

PICKLEBALL Table tennis? Too small. Tennis? Too big! Okay Goldilocks, if you’re looking for something in the middle, Pickleball is the name of the game!

WIFFLE BALL No glove? No helmet? No umpire? No problem! Same rules as baseball but with a lightweight bat and ball so everyone can join in!

MULTI-LEVEL YOGA Join instructor Laura Collins for an hour of yoga, open to all skill levels.

HYDR02GA Hydro2ga is a holistic therapeutic no-impact deep water exercise that is challenging, strengthening, toning, aerobic, relaxing, and balancing for the emotional, physical, and mental body. $5/class. Cash or check only. SAT (beginner class) 8:15 - 9:00 AM SAT (advanced class) 9:00 - 9:45 AM

WATER EXERCISE Enjoy a low impact water exercise class in our heated in-door pool. Exercises are done in 4-5 feet of water, with the option of moving to the deep end. M, W, F 8:15 - 9:15 AM

BOOT CAMP High intensity interval training workouts that include strength training and cardio. Workouts can be modified to fit all fitness levels. Come for some fun and fellowship as well as a great workout! M, W 5:15 - 6:15 PM

Join us for a family Easter celebration. The Easter Bunny will make a special

visit during the egg hunt so make sure to bring your camera and your Easter basket! There will also be an egg drop competition, egg on a spoon races, and more! The full schedule of activities will be available on our website two weeks

Celebrate Easter morning with a service in Hyde Chapel at 10:00 AM.
