Seasonal Floral Design Workshops Buckeye Blooms now offers a new monthly workshop series that focuses on floral design techniques that showcase locally and sustainably grown flowers. Following a tour of the Buckeye Blooms flower fields and tutorial of floral arranging basics, participants will be encouraged to utilize their creativity to design their floral masterpiece to take home. Our workshops provide a fun way to create a unique gift for a significant other or special event. Participants can bring a favorite vase or choose a vessel from our vast collection of vases, baskets and re-purposed items in order to create your own unique floral design.

Each workshop will be focused on utilizing seasonal cut flowers, foliage and woody ornamental cuttings from our farm and gardens. Participants are encouraged to explore their own style of design utilizing the techniques demonstrated in the workshops and to learn more about expanding their own gardens with new and native flower varieties.

The workshops are held at the Buckeye Blooms flower farm & “barn chic” design studio, just north of Lima. Seasonal refreshments will be provided.

Summer Blooms June 19. July 24. August 21. Celebrate summer and utilize the incredible variety, abundance, and vibrancy of locally-grown flowers available in Ohio in mid-summer. Each month we will select from our zinnias, hydrangeas, gomphrena, celosia, snapdragons, herbs, sunflowers, lisianthus, grasses, yarrow and many other varieties that are blooming to make our seasonal floral designs. We’re growing dozens of new flower varieties this year! Our gardens and flower fields are bursting with color as the summer heats up. Join us and explore the endless possibility of floral design with seasonal and sustainably grown flowers.

Drama with Dahlias September 18

There are few flowers on our farm that are as dramatic as dahlias. Brides and floral designers alike covet them for their distinctive shapes and colors. These beauties add dramatic flair to any arrangement. We’ll focus on this flower for our designs this month plus share a little about the natural history of these intriguing and beautiful blooms.

Fall Harvest October 16

Join Buckeye Blooms for a seasonal centerpiece workshop featuring the best of the fall harvest bounty. The focus of this class will be on utilizing fall leaves, grasses and cool season flowers and other harvest-themed natural materials to create unique centerpiece designs.

Thanksgiving Centerpieces November 14

Join us in creating a truly unique and long-lasting autumn centerpiece of locally grown materials to adorn your holiday table. The focus of this class will be learning to combine leaves, branches and an autumn harvest of local gourds, pumpkins, berries and fresh cut flowers and foliage. This textural and unexpected combination will add a fresh and festive touch to your Thanksgiving table!

Holiday Greens December 18

Kick off the holidays by crafting your own evergreen decorations for your home. Demos for wreaths, swags, and rustic door decorations made of evergreens and other lasting materials will be given before participants have the opportunity to select one to create for themselves. All materials are included.
