S E A S O N

As the Music Director and Conductor of the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2020-21 season! Music (and life) is about the people we get to experience it with. I understand my role as the Music Director of our beautiful orchestra as one of a collaborator and communicator in our community. As another year passes, you will hopefully see our musicians and me out in the community, building and nurturing strong relationships, and bringing people of different backgrounds and from all walks of life together, all through the uniting powers of music.

I am convinced that through our art and music, we can make this world more peaceful and harmonious—one note at a time. This belief stands at the core of everything I do. The musicians and I take our responsibilities within our community very serious. We hope that our music will bring you joy, happiness, entertainment, solace, comfort, peace; but we will also ask the big questions—sometimes uncomfortable ones—and hope to provoke thoughts, discussions, and dialogue.

As we look forward to our 2020-21 season, I’m most excited to see our

community come together to connect through music. Our season concerts allow our musicians to shine and our guest artists bring new highlights to our stage. We hope to go deeper with pre-concert talks and post-concert receptions, so you can get to know both the music and the people who create it.

But our connections won’t end in the concert hall. Our chamber series will allow more intimate gatherings to appreciate the incredible pieces our principal musicians have to offer. For a completely different experience, you can join us at Fox Cities Stadium for our free, family concert, and enjoy music and fireworks under the stars. Our small group quartets will work with our youngest students in local schools and seniors in area assisted living communities.

Music is a gift to be shared with all, and it is our commitment that we will do our best to break down barriers and bring people together.

WELCOME TO OUR2020/21 SEASON!

Dr. Kevin F. E. Sütterlin, — Music Director

Jamie LaFreniere— Executive Director

“I believe that an arts organization should be a mirror of its community; in a community as beautifully diverse and engaging as ours this means that the music we play should be equally diverse.”

He has been a member of the ensemble of the Braunschweig State Theater since the 2017/2018 season.
