Gulfshore Opera will bring the dramatic beauty of Puccini’s Tosca to all three counties as the finale for Season 8. For a company known for pioneering, this full-scale production will also mark some wonderful and historic partnerships.  Performing at Charlotte Performing Arts Center in Punta Gorda; Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall in Fort Myers and Artis—Naples in Naples, Florida. Partnerships for this exciting production include the Tosca chorus featuring the Ft. Myers Mastersingers; and the orchestra for the productions in Ft. Myers and Naples – the Naples Philharmonic. Gulfshore Opera will bring in professional regional musicians

who have constituted the GO orchestra in the past for our Punta Gorda performance.

Gulfshore Opera will mount a fun new concept of “The Bat’s Revenge” or Die Fledermaus, moving the action to a time period modern audiences can relate to; the Golden Age of Hollywood. This delightful production, sung in English, will tour Charlotte, Lee, and Collier Counties mid- February 2022. With a new setting and libretto for Die Fledermaus, Director and Librettist, Josh Shaw hopes to make a little more sense of things with the use of movie magic.

This year’s Opera Gala theme is the Romeo & Juliet Ball. Shakespeare’s play is the most famous love story ever written and has been adapted as a ballet, an opera, the musical West Side Story, and a dozen films. Our signature fundraising event begins with an outstanding cast of versatile opera artists performing scenes from Gounod’s beautiful Romeo & Juliet paired with exciting moments from Bernstein’s West Side Story in the superb acoustics of Bonita Presbyterian Sanctuary. Gala package patrons then move on to Bonita Bay Club for an elegant gala dinner with dancing.
