Club history & your chance to be a part of itEstablished in 1882, Royal Wootton Bassett Town is one of the oldest football clubs in the county of Wiltshire. The club boasts a rich history and a bright future, which we would be delighted for you to be a part of as sponsors.

The club, the first in Wiltshire to achieve the prestigious FA Charter Standard Community Club status in 2008, operates more than twenty-five teams covering men’s, women’s, veterans’ and youth football.

Run by dedicated volunteers, we offer football to those of all ages and generations. Our youngest registered players are age 6, while our eldest Veterans team player is a sprightly 65 years old!

All teams are based at the state-of-the-art Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, which opened in 2015 and boasts four excellent grass pitches and a full-sized artificial grass pitch. The club shares the facility with the other members of the Royal Wootton Bassett Sports Association, whose volunteers’ efforts over the course of more than decade helped secure the move to what is one of the premier grassroots sporting facilities in the south west of England.

Our first team are members of the Hellenic League, which they have been members of since 1988. They current play in the Premier Division, at step five of the non-league football pyramid. In addition, the first team compete in the FA Cup and FA Vase. Its best run in the former came in 2012-13, when they reached the second qualifying round, while they have twice reached the second round proper of the FA Vase.

Throughout its history, the club’s leading men’s side have also twice won the Wiltshire Senior Cup (1998-99 and 2000-01), while finishing as runners-up on three further occasions (1902-03, 1903-04 and 1987-88).

Our Development team are members of the Wiltshire Senior Football League and exist to provide a vital first foray into senior football for talented youngsters in the local area.

In recent years, our Ladies team have had significant success, rising to the South West Women’s Football League, which operates leagues in the fifth and sixth tiers of women’s football. They also participate in the FA Women’s Cup.

Our recently established Veterans section has grown significantly since its formation. Offering those aged 35 and over the chance to keep their playing days alive in a friendly, sociable environment, over ninety players have turned out for their weekly “Friday Footy” sessions, while teams have been entered in each edition of the Wiltshire County FA Veterans Flexi League since its inception.

A Sunday side was also introduced last season, winning the Swindon Sunday League Division Two.

Since the turn of the Millennium, our youth section, whose teams compete in the North Wiltshire Youth Football League and Wiltshire County Girls League, has grown exponentially.

Page 4: Season 2018-19 · throughout the year. Meanwhile, in partnership with Advanced Sports Coaching Ltd, our Soccer . Skills Academy runs weekly evening sessions and camps during the school

We now have multiple teams operating at most age groups, allowing us to provide football to those of all ages and abilities.

Additionally, since 2001 the club has established international ties, with three youth sides touring Holland each spring. This has led to a strong relationship – built on the principle of “Friendship Through Football” - with FC ‘s-Gravenzande, a leading amateur Dutch side, whose teams have visited Bassett on numerous occasions.

Our youth offer extends further.

As a Community Club, we hold free skills coaching for those aged 4 to 11 on Saturday mornings throughout the year. Meanwhile, in partnership with Advanced Sports Coaching Ltd, our Soccer Skills Academy runs weekly evening sessions and camps during the school holidays for those aged 5 to 15, as well as free “Footy Tots” sessions for 3 to 5 year olds.

With our senior teams competing at high levels of the non-league game, a thriving youth section and a commitment to providing football to those of all ages and abilities, the chance to support a club like ours, we hope, is an attractive proposition.

This document therefore describes the sponsorship opportunities available for the forthcoming 2018-19 season. We look forward to talking to you further about those that are available and to discuss a package that fits your needs.

Programme Advert - Option BRoyal Wootton Bassett Town FC • Club History

Situated in the small market town six miles west of Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett Town Football Club was first established within the town in 1882, making the club one of the oldest in the county of Wiltshire. The club’s early achievements came in the prestigious Wiltshire Senior Cup, making the final in both 1902-3 and 1903-4, although both ended in defeat. Wootton Bassett Town F.C. folded for a period pre World War 1 before re-forming in the Calne & District League when the club began playing at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground which had been donated by local dignitary Major Gerard Buxton for sporting activities within the town and opened in 1930.

Early successes included winning the Calne & District League in the 1930-31 Season, having finished runners-up the previous season, and then again in 1934-35. Following a move up to the Wiltshire League Division 2 promotion was earned again the following season and the team then remained in the top division in the county until the outbreak of war.

After the war Wootton Bassett Town F.C. recommenced in the County Senior League with limited success until Season 1958-59 when they won their first Wiltshire League title. In 1987-88 the Wiltshire League Division 1 title was won, elevating the Club into the Hellenic League, where they have remained ever since. Season 1987-88 also saw the club again reach the final of the Wiltshire Senior Cup but that first win remained elusive. That changed in 1998-99, however, when the Club defeated Pewsey Vale 3-2 in the final at the County Ground and success was again achieved in Season 2000-01 when Shrewton were defeated 2-0 in the final. The First Team, having finished runners-up in Division One West in Season 2012-13, currently play in the Premier Division of the Hellenic League, at Step 5 of the Football Pyramid.

As well as the First Team the Club has always run an adult Development/Reserve team. Since the onset of the new millennium the club has also expanded significantly, with the establishment of a large thriving Youth Section and a very successful Ladies Section. The Ladies side recently did the “double” of being cup winners and securing promotion in the same season. The latest addition to the Club has been the establishment of a Veterans team, so the club now operates 26 teams from under 7s upwards. This growth led to the club being awarded Charter Standard Development Club status by the Football Association in 2008 before this was upgraded to Community Club status a year later. Wootton Bassett Town F.C. was the first club in Wiltshire to achieve this. International ties have also been established, with three Youth Section teams touring Holland annually since 2001. This has led to a relationship with amateur side FC ‘s-Gravenzande, who are based near The Hague.

The club now play their games at the fantastic New Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, which was opened in the summer of 2015 and with the Royal title now included within the club name, the Club continues to thrive as a key part of the community of Royal Wootton Bassett. Season 2017-18 again sees Rich Hunter in charge of the First Team as the Club looks to better its highest ever position in Non-League football the 11th place finish achieved in Season 2014-15. The Club will again be entering the F.A. Cup and F.A. Vase with the Develop-ment side playing in the Wiltshire County League.

Opportunity......for one sponsor to have an advert in all First Team Hellenic League matchday programmes, both home and away.

Ascot United as we know it, was founded in 1965 by a men’s team who played their games at Sunninghill with “after match meetings” in The Wells in Cheapside village (now Mikado’s). teams playing as long ago as 1928 under the name Ascot United but nothing to link them directly to the current club. In 1965, the club had gained permis- sion from the Ascot Racecourse Trustees to convert the land east of coach park 10 into a football pitch. A wooden clubhouse was built and this team went on to win many prestigious trophies in the years that followed.

Various youth teams represented Ascot United over the years up to 1988, and 1992 the East Berks 7-a-side Association was formed by our then Chairman Keith Wicks introducing small-sided junior games and having disbanded in 1980 the men’s team also reformed. The club continued to grow, entering into partnership with Charters School and being awarded FA Charter Standard status in 2004. The men’s senior team enjoyed early success through the East Berks League gaining continued promotions to the Senior division and winning various Cups including the Fielden Charity Cup in 1996/7. 2001 saw the 1st team join the Reading Senior League and winning the Evening Post Senior Cup at the Madejski Stadium in 2006. Promotion to the Hellenic League soon followed in 2007, followed by promotion to the Hellenic Premier Division in 2009. The club today has grown to become one of the largest Community football clubs in the UK with over 1000 registered players and over 70 teams playing every weekend embracing all ages and abilities from 5 year olds through to Vets. A new clubhouse opened in September 2010, together with an improved main pitch, floodlights and a stand.

The club has enjoyed much success at all levels particularly in the Ladies and Girls Section where they are regularly winners of leagues and county Cups. Last season, our senior Ladies won promotion to the Premier Division of the Southern Region Women’s’ Football League. In 2015, the Under 16 Youth team finally won a Boys’ County Cup, and in 2016 both of our Under 15 Boys’ sides ended the season with cup victories.

The past half a decade has been hugely successful for our first team; our debut in the FA Cup in 2011 attract-ed 1,149 people to the Racecourse on a Friday evening where the famous trophy itself was on display and the match was streamed live on Facebook. Since 2012-13 we have reached the Quarter Final of the FA Vase twice, enjoyed two top-three finishes in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division, and won both the Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup and Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup. Last season saw a period of change including a new management team and relatively young playing squad. However, manager Neil Richards has contin-ued to strengthen his squad since his appointment in January 2017 with the aim of bringing further success to the Racecourse in the near future.

Youth Team Kit SponsorshipOpportunity......

for sponsors to have their name on the training kits (tracksuits and warm-up tops) of one or more of our Youth Section teams for two seasons.

• Youth Team kit sponsor• Our current club practice is not to include

the name of sponsors on Youth Team shirts due to the challenges caused by the children’s dramatic growth at the different age groups and the desire to avoid kits becoming redundant too quickly.

• Our approach is to include the address of the club’s website on all shirts (allowing shirts to be mixed and matched across the various age groups) but then to include any sponsors names on the back of tracksuits and training shirts of the sponsored side.

• Our strong belief is that this actually gives the sponsors more publicity as the tracksuits will be worn more often, i.e. outside of matches as well as at games, giving greater visibility to the sponsor than simply having a name on the shirt.

• The opportunity is available to sponsor one or more of our Youth Section sides in this way.

Sponsor requirements• Provision of artwork design for tracksuits

and training gear.
