We greatly appreciate the
contributions made by Vice

Association member Mr.

for workers from their

beach cleanup. Lastly, we
thank all the committee
members and residents who
personally spent their Sunday
morning making our beach
more clean and green.

On Sunday, June 16th at 6
AM sharp, approximately 30
Seashore Town residents and
volunteers gathered to
participate in the Chennai
Costal Cleanup 4.
We were instructed how to
segregate the garbage we
collected to maximize the
amount that could be
recycled and minimize the
amount that would be sent to
the dump yard. The event
coordinators also distributed
gloves and plastic bags to all
of our volunteers.
We spent the first half of the
morning collecting plastic
wrappers, bottles, clothing,
thermocol and other debris
from 6th Avenue to 11th
Avenue. Then we dropped off
the bags we had filled at 6th
Avenue for the Corporation
of Chennai to pick up and
made our way from 6th
Avenue to 1st Avenue. After
two hours of collecting
garbage, we reconvened at
6th Avenue and refreshments
were passed out.
This event was organized by
the Chennai Trekking Club
and sponsored by The Hindu
and Casa Grande. Over 100
groups totaling 5,584
volunteers collected 36.7
tons of garbage from Marina
beach up to Kovalam. The
Seashore Town Plot Owners
and Residents Association is
very proud to have been a
part of this great cause!
Thank you Mrs. Geeta
Nambiar for bringing this

Can lasers do magic?
A laser (light amplification by stimulated
emission of radiation) is a source of light with a
spectrum of above 400nm. Different types of
lasers are used for different skin conditions.
Vascular lasers are used to treat vascular
birth marks, spider veins, acne and rosacea.
Pigment lasers are used to treat tattoos,
melasma and other pigmentation disorders.
Destructive lasers are used to destroy
unwanted and excessive growth in skin. Until
now, the results of vascular and pigmented
lasers are not encouraging, even with multiple
treatments.
There are also two types of cosmetic lasers.
Facial rejuvenation laser (fraxel)
Hair removal laser
The results of cosmetic lasers are more
encouraging. The fraxel laser is used to treat
acne scars and facial wrinkles, and the hair
removal laser is used to remove unwanted hair
on the face, hands, legs, armpits etc. Although
hair removal by laser is more commonly
requested by females, nowadays more males
are undergoing this procedure, especially for
their beard area.

The Corporation of Chennai has
outsourced the cleaning of Seashore
Town to J. P. Enterprises. Several
labourers from J. P. Enterprises can
be spotted daily picking up litter and
removing weeds from the sides of
our roads. They are easy to identify
as they wear neon colored vests.
Please assist their efforts and the
Association’s to keep Seashore Town
clean and green by requesting your
household staff not to litter or burn
garbage or garden waste. There have
been several incidents of late of
burning waste along the sides of the
roads as well as in empty plots. This
practice leads to unseemly, blackened
spots and produces hazardous gas.
Instead, please rely on the workers
from J. P. Enterprises. Residents can
contact the supervisor in charge of
our area, Ms. Lourdu Mary, to
request the removal of overgrown
shrubbery, litter and garden waste.
She is available at 9677021231. We
thank you for your cooperation and
support.
Seashore Town Ladies Circle by Usha Bhushan
The Seashore Town Ladies Circle met at Cascade on ECR on June 19th. Ladies Circle Chairwoman Geeta Nambiar,
Secretary Usha Bhushan (along with daughter Ahana), Mrs. Chitra Srinivasan, Mrs. Sucharita Kumar and Mrs. Deepika
Philkhana attended. We treated ourselves to some delicious Chinese cuisine over a leisurely lunch and then discussed the
yoga classes which were being held in Seashore Town. Several of the ladies present expressed interest in joining and were
encouraged to do so by former yoga class students. We also talked about the beach clean up, which the Association
participated in the previous Sunday. Secretary Usha Bhushan recommended the Marriott Cook and Dine event as a
potential activity for the Ladies Circle, and a unanimous decision was made to attend it for our July meeting. For the latest
updates on the Ladies Circle, email [email protected] and request to be added to our Google Group.
