Functions of an EncoderA Multipole Encoder allows sealing rings to be combined into

one single component. The magnetizable elastomer layer

encoded by sector with north and south poles provides the

engine management system with accurate information about

the crankshaft speed and position – an important criterion for

start-stop systems. In this way installation space, weight and

process costs can be minimized.

Changing bolts with every pulley change is vital

Bolts must not be re-used after replacing the pulley.

The reason: Expansion bolts are often used for the mounting

of a pulley. These are tightened during their assembly to just

above their elasticity range.

Result: The bolts are permanently deformed and stretched.

Re-using such bolts poses considerable safety risks and is not

recommended.

Functions of a TVDTorsional Vibration Dampers reduce torsional vibrations of the crankshaft in their amplitudes. This increases the life of the engine

and reduces the noise radiation and allows light weight crankshaft design.
