About
SDWorks is a unique business platform marketing the work of students from School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
We often see student projects that have great commercial potential but end when the course is completed. SDWorks was established to turn these works into reality.
Together with the students, SDWorks helps to develop and refine their ideas into real world products. We manufacture the designs on site or license to industrial partners.
As you browse through the following pages, you will discover the creativity of our students. If you wish to obtain more information on SDWorks, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

This delicate PCM (Photochemical Machining) Bookmark is inspired by traditional Chinese paper cutting. The magnificent skyline of Hong Kong Island features the spectacular Bank of China, Central Plaza, IFC (International Finance Centre), Cosco Tower and Jardine House. The skyscrapers surrounded by the jungle of Hong Kong Island point out the collision between nature and technology, tradition and the cutting edge.

Hong Kong, as the crossroads of east and west, has developed a blend of eating cultures. 燒 味 (Siu Mei, roasted or barbecued foods) is a typical Hong Kong cuisine, where roasted duck, goose, pig and chicken are displayed by hanging them in shop windows.
Using 3D digital technologies, a real local roasted duck was scanned, resized and produced by rapid prototyping (SLA-Stereolithography), then plated (nickel free). The iconic ‘hanging duck’ is translated into a witty accessory that is humorous and elegant at the same time.

Metallic material is all around us, in our working space, car, studio and home. This soft plush toy with magnetic hands and legs will stick to any metallic surfaces, adding vitality to a dull environment. The use of corduroy adds texture and character to Magnetman, and his emotion changes by rotating the two elliptic eyes. The cubic form of Magnetman makes him a simple character to be remembered, and a very fun companion for everyone.
