SCHOOLWIRES DRIVES MORETRAFFIC WITH WIJMOSchoolwires developed a website and community manage-ment system called Centricity 2 that enables K-12 school dis-tricts to communicate with staff, students and parents moreefficiently. More than 8,000 schools across the United Statesare using Centricity 2 to create branded user experiences fortheir communities that include blogs, forums, surveys anduser ratings. Users can quickly create forms and surveys aswell as send out broadcast or targeted e-mails.

Schoolwires evaluated the .NET Framework, but was con-cerned that the native UI controls were too server-dependentand needed a better client/presentation layer. The develop-ment team was researching ways to adopt a lightweight AJAXsolution paired with jQuery when it discovered Wijmo. Wijmowas selected because it was able to render charts identically inChrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Plus, it provided thelightweight footprint Schoolwires required.

At the time, the Centricity 2 interactive dashboard hadbeen built in Flash, and wouldn’t run on all browsers ordevices. Wijmo-based charts extended the site’s interactivefeatures to mobile devices and older browsers, so thousandsmore users could access the system.
