Longing for a chance to stand in the spot light, sharing your musical gifts? Join us for our monthly open mic night in our theater. Professional lights, sound system, and theater seating await you! Singers and musicians are welcome. All ages can participate in this family-friendly night out. No bands. This event must meet a minimum of 15 registered participants by the Wednesday prior, at 12noon to run and allow for door registration. Jones, The Musical – a delightful adaptation of four of Barbara Park’s best-selling books, brought to life in a genuinely comical (and not strictly-for-kids) musical developed by TheatreworksUSA. Awaken a young person’s desire to read with the sassy little diva, Junie B. Jones, and her adventures in first grade.

It’s Junie B.’s first day of first grade, and a lot of things have changed for her: Junie’s friend, Lucille, doesn’t want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. Also, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard and her teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks she may need glasses. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,” and first grade has never been more exciting. (KM)

Swimming can be a fun family activity and exciting no matter your age. Swimming and being around the water also means you must pay attention and make sure you are aware while participating. Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for ages 1-14. Teaching children to swim is a vital skill for safe swimming, drowning prevention and overall safety around water wherever it might be.

Come out and pledge your commitment to safe swimming and receive a certificate along with a free “safety pledge” towel and visit to Splash Central. (AM, KS)

This awareness initiative is a collaboration between the Bartlett Park District and the Pauly D Foundation to promote water safety and encourage swim lessons for all ages. This program includes an entertaining short presentation and free entry to Splash Central after. Participants must attend the presentation to receive perks.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a few days early with some exciting games and swimming at Splash Central in the annual Shamrock Plunge! Follow the rainbow shamrocks around the pool to the lucky Leprechaun’s treasure. Clues will be provided to find gold items. Gather as many gold items as you can to win a prize. Maybe if you’re lucky you will see a leprechaun too. (AM)

It’s never too late to start on the path to your Olympic dream. Our trained ski and snowboard instructors teach lessons from beginner to advanced levels. Villa Olivia is registered with the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and has a very rigorous training program. Many of our instructors are additionally certified by PSIA or the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). All lessons are located outside at Villa Olivia and are taught by our staff of instructors.

Join us for Before and/or After Care Camp. Campers can be dropped off early and stay late for supervised care before and after day camp at the Bartlett Nature Center. Activities will vary and the atmosphere will be safe and casual inside the building. Breakfast or snack must be brought by the camper. The use of cell phones will only be allowed before entering or after leaving the building. If there is an emergency please notify the office and the camper will be located. All registration closes at 6pm Friday prior to camp. (DM)

Parents/guardians will be required to pay a late pick up fee of $5 if they are 1-10 minutes late; after 10 minutes the fee will be $1 per minute until the child is picked up. The late fee is per child. The person picking up the child will be handed a late pick up slip by the child’s instructor. BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL RECREATION

2019-2020 PRESCHOOL

The Bartlett Park District preschool is a DCFS licensed program that serves children from ages three to five. This recreational program is a play based early childhood educational program. We strongly believe in meeting the needs of the whole child and provide a curriculum that will prepare your child for later school success. Our goal is to plan daily experiences that will help the child develop physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually in a fun and safe environment. All classrooms are located in the Preschool Wing of the Bartlett Community Center. We welcome you and your child to visit our school. You can tour the facility, meet the teachers, ask questions and preview the classes in session. Tours are by appointment only please contact the Preschool Coordinator at 630-540-4853 if you are interested in setting up a tour. Registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin on Jan. 26. To register, please drop off your completed registration form, proof of residency, non-refundable security deposit and birth certificate to the BCC Registration Counter.

3-YEAR-OLD PROGRAM:This program focuses on large motor, fine motor, social and emotional skills. Cognitive development is enhanced through beginning math, science and letter recognition activities. Teachers create an environment that encourages learning through play while fostering independence.

YOUNG 3’SThis program focuses on activities to enhance social and emotional development in an easy going and fun environment. It is an excellent introduction to school. Through play children will learn the importance of sharing, listening and cooperating with others. Young 3’s registration begins late September and the program begins in January.

This program focuses on developmentally appropriate activities that encourage the child’s desire to learn. Through hands on activities, children will focus on beginning writing, letter recognition and letter sounds. This program will prepare children for Kindergarten readiness and will encourage individual learning.

PRE-KPRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE

This program focuses on preparing children for Kindergarten. Teachers offer activities in beginning reading, writing and letter/ sound recognition. Children will participate in activities designed to enhance critical thinking in areas of math and science. This class meets five days per week.

A September 1 birthdate is used for the three and four year old programs; a January 1 date is used for the Young 3’s and Pre-K program. All children must be toilet independent to participate in preschool.

The Bartlett Nature Center offers opportunities to see a variety of displays, participate in hands-on experiences, and hike miles of trails surrounding the building. On-site and off-site programs are available during regular business hours, evenings, and weekends for schools, scouting groups, daycares, private parties, businesses, and churches. There are also rental opportunities including the large shelter, program rooms, and auditorium.

EXPLORATION: MUSIC

Registration/Scheduling ProcessDue to the progressive nature of private voice/music lessons, all continuing students are given priority in class placement. Returning students must register by December 17 for session 1, and February 25 for session 2 to be given priority placement.

Once returning students are placed in the schedule, the instructor contacts new students in the order in which they registered. New students will receive a call as soon as space becomes available in the schedule. The instructor does his best to accommodate all new students, but space is limited.

Understanding dog behaviors are just as important as the mechanics. This course is designed to educate the public about being responsible dog owners and to recognize and control problems before they become unmanageable. You will teach your dog to heel, sit, down, stay, place, come and much more all-around distractions. You will see improvements immediately following the first session and after that in working with your dog for only 20 min per day. The first-class is mandatory and without your dog. All dogs participating are required to be up to date on immunizations (rabies, parvo, and distemper), and a negative stool sample checked no more than two weeks before the first class. Develop your child’s intellect through the fun game of chess. Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance children’s motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. All participants will learn the rules of chess as well as some basic strategies under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. All adult open gym participants are required to show a photo ID. The ID must be handed to the open gym staff at each open gym attended and will be returned upon leaving. Classes are taught on a 60’ court and use an orange ball which has 50% bounce and weight of a regular tennis ball. This class is designed for students who have proper technique and can consistently serve and rally and have been promoted from Red Ball 7-9. You will continue to improve all volleys, ground strokes, serves, match play and will be introduced to lobs, overheads, and proper footwork. Students should have a 25” racquet which can be purchased from our pro shop.

This class is for students who are new to tennis or need more development on their volleys, ground strokes, and serves. Stroke development, proper footwork, and match play will be a significant emphasis. This class is taught on the full 78’ foot tennis court and uses a green dot ball which has 75% the bounce and weight of a regular tennis ball. Students should have a 26” racquet which can be purchased from our pro shop.

Start Smart Soccer Start Smart Soccer, a program of the National Alliance for Youth Sports, teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized soccer while they work one-on-one with a parent. ATHLETICS: BASKETBALL

1. Player registration: Players are registered for the grade the player will be attending during the playing season. Players requesting to “play up” must receive the approval of the Recreation Manager. Submit your form and payment with your request to “play up”. You will be contacted at a later date with the determination. Travel players are not allowed to play in any In-House leagues.

2. Volunteer Coaches: Volunteer coaches are needed. Please complete the section on the registration form and be sure to provide an e-mail address if you are interested. Confirmation e-mails will be sent. Head and assistant coaches are required to attend the preseason coach’s meeting and the draft/evaluation. Should we receive more volunteers than are needed, while we greatly appreciate your offer, not everyone will be selected. Coaches’ kids will automatically be placed on their team. Coaches will pick a practice day and time that fits their schedule.

3. Game cancellations: Games canceled due to schedule conflicts are not guaranteed to be made up, although we will make an attempt to reschedule.

4. Uniform: A basketball T-shirt is included in the program fee. Players should wear black shorts and gym shoes. To prevent injuries, jewelry cannot be worn during practices or games.

5. Team Sports Cancellation Policy: Cancellations requested after the registration deadline will be granted only if a replacement is found and registered. A $7 administrative cancellation fee is charged per person.

Boys In-House Basketball LeagueRegistration deadline Saturday, Jan. 19th at 12noon. This league is designed for boys but girls who are looking for a very competitive game are welcome to register. This league practices 1 hour per week starting at 6:15, 7:15, or 8:15pm (at either BCC or a local school). Practices will be one day of the week between M-Th. The coaches will pick their own day and time that works for practices. Games are played primarily on Friday evenings with some Saturday morning games as well. The season consists of a 10 game schedule, all in-house games are played at the BCC. All players are required to attend the evaluation held at the BCC Gymnasium (date and time below). Practices begin the week of Feb. 11th, first games are March 1st. (EE)

Get your friends together and enter a team in the HS basketball league. Freshman-Seniors are welcome to put a team together. There will be one game a week on Sunday evenings and all games will be played at BCC. Season will consist of an eight game regular season schedule with the top teams competing in a single elimination playoff on May 19th. There will be volunteer coaches needed and players are allowed to form their own team. On the registration form, players will put down the team name of the team they will be playing on. Rosters must have a minimum of 7 players. In the case a player does not have a team, they will indicate that on the form and be placed on a team with others who are also looking for a team to join. Players are required to wear the provided Park District t-shirt (included in the fee) and black shorts. Championship T-shirts will be awarded for 1st place. Spring Soccer

Required equipment: Shin guards, water bottle, soccer cleats (not required for Kindy)

Our soccer league has approximately 450-550 participants and provides an excellent opportunity for children of all ages and abilities (no experience necessary!) to stay fit, improve their motor skills, learn teamwork and have a great time. Grade-based teams ensure that players make new friends and play with their peers at all skill levels. The league is structured to limit roster size, which maximizes playing time on the field and therefore increases player development. Bartlett Park District is focused on keeping up to date with changing State and National soccer standards to ensure we provide the best soccer experience possible for your child. (JH)

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade players are all required to purchase a new uniform each season.

New players in 3rd-8th Grade (those who did not play Fall 18 soccer) are required to purchase a uniform. Be sure to note your player’s uniform size on the registration form.

Returning players (those who played Fall 18 soccer) CANNOT pay the higher fee for a new uniform. If for some reason you need additional uniforms items please contact Josh 630-540-4843. High School Boys Soccer LeagueWe are continuing to extend our soccer program to include a league for high school boys (Grades 9th-12th). Teams will be formed fairly, dividing grade and ability between teams where possible while allowing for friends to play together. New and experienced players are all welcome. This league will play against the Inter-Village teams of Carol Stream, Elgin, Hanover Park, Streamwood, Bloomingdale and Hoffman Estates, assuming each district can form a team. Find your friends and come out and have some fun on the soccer field.

1. To participate, complete and submit the Sports Registration Form on page 61 by the Saturday, Feb. 9th at 12noon. All registrations received by the deadline are guaranteed to play. Registrations received after the registration deadline will be placed on a waitlist and are not guaranteed placement on a team. Placement will only be done when an opening occurs. No players will be added to teams once games have begun. Coaches do not have the authority to allow a player to be added to his/her team.

2. Only a parent or legal guardian may register a child and sign the waiver. Registration is by grade level. Players are registered for the grade the player will be in that session. “Playing up” is not encouraged but those requesting to do so must receive the approval of the Recreation Manager. Submit your registration form and payment with your request to “play up” and you will be contacted at a later date with a determination.

3. Refunds requested after the registration deadline will be issued only if and when a replacement player is registered. A $7 administrative fee is charged per person. Depending on the time of the refund request we cannot guarantee a refund of the uniform portion of the fee.

4. Due to the size and nature of the program, we cannot accept coach, friendship, or carpool requests, except for 7th/8th grade.

5. Practice times and locations are determined by coaches and are typically 1-1.5 hours, one or two nights a week. Games are typically played on Saturdays, but occasional weeknight games may be scheduled. The Spring game season is April through early June, depending on the weather. Games canceled due to inclement weather are not guaranteed to be made up.

6. 3rd-12th grade teams play in an inter-village league with surrounding communities up to 20 minutes away.

7. Volunteer coaches are needed. Please consider volunteering as a coach. Many coaches are needed to make this a great program. We provide equipment, training, and resources. Complete the bold section on the registration form and be sure to provide an e-mail address. Unfortunately, if not enough coach volunteers, the program is forced to have large teams, reducing playing time or limiting the number of teams within the leagues.

8. No jewelry can be worn at any time (games or practices).

9. Good sportsmanship is promoted in this recreational program. All players will receive equal training and game time whether they are novices or seasoned players.

This draft was put in place to eliminate the possibility of “stacking” a team and to allow girls to gain experience from new coaches each year. The full list of the aquatic rules is located on our website under the “Aquatics” link and the “Safety/Rules” section• Parents, guardians, or chaperones are responsible for supervising their children.• Lifeguards are on duty to enforce rules and respond in case of an emergency.• Children under 7 years of age must be accompanied by a guardian 18 years or older.• Children 7 to 9 years of age must be accompanied by a chaperone 14 years or

older while at the facility.• Children that are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper with tight fitting

plastic pants over them.

• Photo ID passes are purchased and processed only at the Bartlett Community Center registration desk during normal business hours.

• Proof of residency is required for all pass holders (current utility bill, credit card bill, insurance statement, bank statement, etc.). Driver’s License is not accepted.

• Family members consist of parents and their dependent unmarried children, 26 years and under, residing permanently at the same address.

IMPORTANT INFORMATIONThe Bartlett Park District is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of participants in high regard. The Bartlett Park District continually strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect the participants’ safety. However, participants and parents/guardians of minors registering for this program must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational activities.

You are solely responsible for determining if you or your minor child/ward are physically fit and/or adequately skilled for the activities contemplated by this agreement. It is always advisable, especially if the participant is pregnant, disabled in any way or recently suffered an illness, injury or impairment, to consult a physician before undertaking any physical activity.

WARNING OF RISKSwimming is intended to challenge and engage the physical, mental and emotional resources of each participant. However, despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury, including drowning. Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. The very nature of swimming is hazardous and risky, including but not limited to fatigue and overexertion, poor swimming skills, failing to avoid dangerous areas, horseplay, diving or cannon-balling into shallow water and striking the bottom or side of the pool, inadequate supervision or instruction, lack of conditioning, becoming disoriented, striking other swimmers, defective or inadequate equipment, striking one’s head on the bottom when using a diving block, slip and falls on the deck or within the locker facility, chemical exposure and all other circumstances inherent to the sport of swimming. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the Bartlett Park District to guarantee absolute safety.

AQUATICS: FITNESS CLASSES

Water offers a resistance and buoyancy that cannot be experienced when doing regular ground-based exercises. The benefits of water exercise include lower blood pressure, increased bone density, stronger muscles, corrected body posture, pain relief, and weight loss. The calming effect of water on our bodies extends to our minds as well. Great for everyone but especially beneficial for those recovering from an injury, those seeking to lose weight, and older individuals.

Purchase a 10 or 20 punch or a 12 week unlimited punch card at the Bartlett Community Center Registration Counter* or Splash Central and use the same punch card for all classes, including Aquafit. The Bartlett Park District is not responsible for lost or stolen punch cards. Once punch per person, per class. Punch cards are non-refundable and non-transferable. Expiration dates only apply to 12 week unlimited option. Proof of residency is required when purchasing a punch card.

Water Walkers is an easy way to strengthen your body. You can walk forwards, backwards and sideways using the natural resistance of the water which makes your muscles work harder to move forward. The water provides a natural buoyancy helping to reduce strain on your joints resulting in little to no impact. Brisk water walking is more strenuous than it initially looks and can provide an excellent aerobic workout, burning 300-500 calories per hour. Changing your water walking routine keeps it interesting while allowing you to work different muscles as part of the exercise. Water weights and noodles are available to use. This program is not led by an instructor.

Springboard diving is a great exercise for strengthening the upper body, notably arm muscles. It also develops the cardiovascular system, improves agility and flexibility, and tones muscles for better posture. Springboard diving works to

Learn lifeguarding rescues, CPR, first aid, supplemental oxygen support and AED implementation. This course promotes important safety skills, work experience, team-work and leadership skills. Lifeguard candidates must go to the bottom of the 12 foot deep pool, tread water without your hands for two minutes, and swim four laps consecutively. All supplies are provided. Upon successfully completing all required elements of the course, students will be certified to lifeguard at Bartlett Park District facilities and other Ellis & Associates facilities. Completion of the course does not guarantee employment with the Bartlett Park District but is considered a pre-interview if a position is desired. Must be 16 or older to work at BPD. (AM)

Important information for your first day of the Swim Academy

Please arrive 15 minutes early for class. Rosters and class assignments will be posted inside the Splash Central lobby. Students and parents should remain in the Splash Central lobby until class begins.

The lobby doors will be opened and the instructors will each have signs with their name. Bring your child to the assigned instructor and check-in with that individual personally.

The Bartlett Park District Swim Academy invites family members to sit on deck, space permitting, on the first and last day of class. To create the best environment for learning parents, guardians, and spectators must remain in the viewing room or bleacher area for all other classes.

Come and explore the water with your infant or toddler! This class, with an adult in-water, is designed to facilitate familiarity with the water and build comfort. Instructors will act as facilitators and coordinate both structured and unstructured activities to promote water exploration. The child/parent ratio must be one to one.

Toddlers that are comfortable being independent in the water and being without a parent are ready for the introductory class to our Bartlett Park District Swim Academy program. This class focuses on development of motor skills in the water, including comfortability, supported floats, and arm circles. The ultimate goal of this class is to adequately prepare the student for entry into our Basic Skills series of classes and basic safety and skill development. After graduation from Tiny Tot Adventurers, students will be ready to enter the core program curriculum of the Bartlett Park District Swim Academy. Basic Skills I promotes early stroke development with the refinement of arm circles, kicks, and an introduction to rotary breathing. Instructors will also encourage students to float independently on their front and back. Finally, with time being spent in the Splash Central Lap Pool, students will also cover safety rules at the start and end of class each day.

Building on the curriculum from Basic Skills I, students will continue to develop front crawl and back crawl with the ultimate goal of swimming 10-15 yards independently with instructor supervision. Rotary breathing will also be reinforced in an effort to develop a clean stroke needed for successful completion of the next class, Basic Skills III, and graduation into the Advanced Skills series. Safety Note: This class will be held in at least 3’ 6” water. If swimmers have trouble touching the floor, they must stay on the wall at all times. Failure to listen to directions from the instructor can result in reduction in level or removal from the program due to safety.

The capstone class of the Basic Skills series focuses on stroke refinement, additional opportunities for deep water skill-building, and increased emphasis on distance swimming and endurance. To successfully graduate from Basic Skills III, students must be able to independently swim the full length of the Splash Central Lap Pool (25 yards) using a relatively refined and clean Front Crawl and Back Crawl. Students will also receive introduction to the stroke components of Breaststroke through development of Elementary Backstroke. Note: For younger students not yet possessing the endurance to successfully graduate from Basic Skills III, the Bartlett Park District Swim Academy recommends enrollment in Private Swim Lessons for a specialized endurance-building program.

swimming include building lung capacity – especially good for asthma sufferers. Swimming encourages babies to start to cross their midline and to develop other physical skills, It allows

children with disabilities to enjoy physical activity, and improves spatial awareness

Cancellations and Class Transfers Each participant must attempt two classes before cancellation can be considered. If you wish to cancel or transfer out of our program, please fill out the appropriate form and turn it in to the registration office seven or more business days prior to the start of the session. There is a $7 administrative cancellation fee for each participant per program. These forms are available at the registration office within BCC, or on our website. All requests will be date-stamped and processed as received.

No refunds or make-ups will be given for missed or forgotten classes.

The initial class in this series offers students an opportunity to continue developing advanced strokes such as Breaststroke. Students will build endurance by swimming regular lengths of the pool. Advanced safety skills will be introduced and discussed and students will be given the opportunity to attempt basic diving techniques.

Students will continue the development of all four major strokes: Front Crawl (Freestyle), Back Crawl (Backstroke), Breaststroke, and Butterfly. Students will continue to develop their ability to swim greater distances, which is important from both a safety and competitive standpoint. Finally, proper usage of lifejackets will be demonstrated and applied during class.

The final course in the Advanced Skills series focuses on retention of all four major strokes: Front Crawl (Freestyle), Back Crawl (Backstroke), Breaststroke, and Butterfly. Students will receive additional training on how to apply these strokes in both a leisure swimming and competitive environment. Additional endurance-building activities for students will help facilitate their graduation from the program. Graduation will propel students into confident and safety oriented independent swimmers.

For students completing Advanced Skills III who have the desire to swim competitively, this course will weave elements of a swim team environment into stroke refinement and development. Students will learn the basics of flip turns and proper starting techniques. The Bartlett Park District Swim Academy recommends this course for any individual desiring to swim for the Bartlett Barracudas Swim Team for the first time. (KS)

Private Swim Lessons Instructor RequestsThe Bartlett Park District allows you to request a specific Private or Semi-Private Swim Lessons Instructor. At the time of in-person registration at the BCC Registration Counter you will be required to answer few questions; the participant’s name, the class number, and the FULL name of the requested instructor. The registration office will date stamp your submission and process it to the Swim Lesson Coordinators. Call-in instructor requests will only be accepted if the participant is already registered for the session. If you registered over the internet, you are required to answer the request questionnaire. If you have no request, just simply enter “N/A” into the answer boxes. Please recognize that by submitting the request you understand that it is a request ONLY. Requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. You are not guaranteed a specific instructor and no refunds will be given if we cannot accommodate your request. Requesting a specific instructor will not get an individual off the waitlist. If we are unable to honor your request for a specific instructor, we will work with you to place the student with the instructor at a different time or with a similar instructor whose expertise matches the student’s skill level and needs. Bartlett Park District Resident Registration opens November 13 at 9am. Regular Registration opens November 27 at 10am.

Online Registration: www.bartlettparks.org If you have not applied for an Online Club Membership go to our website, click on the quick link “Registration” then click on the quick link “Register Online”, select and complete the online application and submit. Once complete your application will be processed within one business day. You will receive two separate emails with a secure username and password.

2. E-mail: [email protected]. Call (630) 540-4800 to confirm receipt.

3. Mail-In: Registration Office, 700 S. Bartlett Road, Bartlett, IL 60103.

4. Fax-In: Registration Office at (630) 540-4869. If you do not receive an email receipt within 24 hours please call (630) 540-4800.

5. Walk-In: The Registration Counter is located in the Bartlett Community Center, main floor, 700 South Bartlett Road. Registration hours are Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:30am-7pm, Tuesday/Thursday 8:30am-6pm and Saturday 9:30am-1pm.

6. After Hours Drop Box: Located inside the south entrance of the Bartlett Community Center. Monday through Friday, 5:30 am to 10pm and Saturday, 7 am to 6 pm and Sunday 8 am to 6 pm.

All Villa Olivia payments are processed at Villa Olivia. Registration forms may be printed from www.villaolivia.com. Registrations for Villa Olivia are not available at other park district facilities or online. (630) 289-1000

Resident Rate: to receive the resident rate you must be a Bartlett Park District resident. Proof of residency is required annually. A P.O. Box in Bartlett is not acceptable. Acceptable documents include: a current utility bill, tax bill, bank statement, cable/internet bill, etc.

Ways to Register

1. Mark your calendars. No refunds or household credit can be given for classes missed, forgotten, or changes due to personal schedules.

2. No cancellations, refunds, or credits on pass memberships or punch cards.

3. Cancellations will be considered only when a written request is received by the Registration Office seven business days pri or to the start of the program. A $7 administrative fee is charged per program, per person. Cost of uniforms, costumes, T-shirts or trophies are not subject to refund.

4. Transfers will be considered only when written request is submitted and received by the Registration Office at least seven business days prior to the start of the program (space permitting).

5. Transfer and cancellation forms are available at the Registration Office and on-line at www.bartlettparks.org. If unable to obtain the prop er form, you may submit a re quest in writ ing in clud ing the fol low ing in for ma tion:

• Participant’s name, address, and phone number.• Class level, session dates, and class time.• Name, address, and phone number of the person requesting

the transfer or cancellation.• Reason for request.

Cancellation and transfer of programs and pass memberships, unless specified otherwise:

Cancellations or transfers made after registration will be performed only if a replacement can be found and registered. A $7 administrative fee is charged per program, per person for cancellation.

Sport League Cancellations

1. Only immediate family members may be listed on a registration form. Only a parent or guardian may register a minor and sign the waiver.

2. The Registration Form must be filled out completely and the waiver signed. Registrations cannot be processed unless the waiver is signed.

3. Payment must accompany the registration form and is processed with all registrations.

4. All forms are date stamped as received.

5. Registration receipts are emailed to all participants. Receipt is proof of enrollment. No reminder will be provided. Read your receipt carefully as details may have changed since the publishing of the brochure.

6. Wait List: Once the maximum enrollment is met for a class, a waiting list will be formed. We will create additional classes when feasible and you will be contacted. Payment is due when being waitlisted. Refunds will be issued after the first class for those who are not able to be registered. Please do not attend the class unless you have been contacted by the Registration Office.

The Bartlett Park District is proud to be a member of Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA). Throughout the northwest suburbs, NWSRA is the leader in providing outstanding recreational opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. NWSRA’s team of full-time Therapeutic Recreation professionals and trained part-time staff offer a multitude of year-round program offerings including sports, camping, social programs and much more. Having fun, being included, making friends, learning new things and going new places are just a few of the benefits of NWSRA programs!

Inclusion assistance is provided by NWSRA to those individuals who wish to participate in their home park district program. When registering, the parent of an individual with a disability should inform the park district (and NWSRA, if desired) of any accommodation needed in order for the individual to successfully participate in the program. The park district staff will then contact NWSRA for assistance with the accommodation.

Special Leisure Services Foundation, the fundraising arm of NWSRA, partners with public and private corporations, foundations and individuals to support and promote outstanding recreational opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. Throughout the year, the organization hosts a variety of fundraising events that help support accessible transportation, general programs, inclusion opportunities, the Kevin T. Kendrigan Memorial Scholarship program and NWSRA Lightning Athletes.

Special Accommodations: ADA ComplianceWe ask individuals with special needs for inclusion into programs to notify us of their needs at least two weeks in advance. This will allow us time to make sure that proper staffing, equipment, and facilities are in place for a successful and safe program. By informing us early, you are helping us to work toward a smooth inclusion for everyone’s benefit.

The Bartlett Park District has established an internal grievance system for prompt and equitable resolution of grievances alleging any action by the Bartlett Park District that would be prohibited by the A.D.A. or the applicable Title II Rules. Grievances should be directed to:

Americans with Disabilities Grievance Procedures

The facilities of the Bartlett Park District are rated “G” for the General Public to enjoy. The facilities include, but are not limited to, the Administration Building, Apple Orchard Golf Course, Bartlett Aquatic Center, Bartlett Community Center, Bartlett Nature Center, Bartlett Skate Park, Log Cabin, Schrade Gym, Villa Olivia, Gazebo, park shelters.

To help make the facilities a pleasant and safe recreation environment, the following facility conduct regulations are enforced:

1. Persons must be involved in a program or activity to remain in the facilities; no loitering is allowed.

2. Children under the age of nine (9) may not be left unsupervised in the facilities.

3. Animals are not allowed in facilities with the exception of service animals that help assist disabled individuals, and animals expressly for educational purposes under the control of Nature Center staff.

4. Foul language is prohibited at all times.5. Facility users must show respect to all participants and staff.6. Facility users must show good citizenship by respecting equipment,

supplies, and the facility.7. Facility users must be responsible by exercising self-control and

refraining from causing bodily harm to other participants and staff.8. Facility users who do not conduct themselves in a proper manner, or

do not follow the Facility Conduct Policy, will be removed from the facility and grounds.

9. Repeated improper conduct will result in loss of facility privileges.

Facility Conduct Policy

The Donald H. Schrade Gymnasium facility encompasses a full size gymnasium with bleachers, a “sky box party room” which looks over the gymnasium, a program room, restrooms (men’s, women’s & family) and an elevator. The facility has one full basketball court or two half courts, batting cages, soccer goals, and a variety of sport equipment available. New renovations include added air conditioning, new roof, and elevator.

This gymnasium is available year round as a multi-sport training center. We host soccer, basketball, cricket, baseball, softball, and lacrosse rentals, teams and practices. We are also an ideal location for birthday parties, sports team picture days, equipment pick-up, registration, events, etc.

The gym can be rented to host sports parties, including dodgeball and kickball. Great for birthdays and end of season team parties! Additional options include: batting cages, pitching machine, soccer goals, pitching mound, cricket wickets, sports equipment packages.
