1.Only make adjustments to the saw or your material when the saw is powered off

2.Install the blade with the teeth facing down. This will hold the work down against the table.

1. Adjust and check the blade tension according to the machine manufacturers guidelines.

2. Do not allow your fingers to come any closer to the blade than 2 inches when cutting stock.

3. Keep your fingers to the side of the blade, never in front of it.

1. What is the hold-down and where do we place

it?

The hold down should rest LIGHTLY on the top of your wood to help prevent the wood from moving up and

down with the blade

• Should you still be able to move the piece of wood from under the hold-down?

• YES! You need to be able to slide the wood under the hold down to cut along your lines.

What are some locations you should never place your fingers?

• Inside of the hold-down guard area

• In front of the path of the blade

• Less than 5 cm to the blade

1. Where do you want to place your hands to guide your wood?

On top and behind the wood to guide it and prevent it from shaking

2. What do you need to do before setting up or doing any adjustments to your saw or material?

Unplug the saw

What are Relief Cuts?• Cuts designed to take

pressure off the blade when needing to make curved cuts or cutting long sections

Plan Appropriately:• Make relief cuts first!• Then cut out your

object

How do you know if the speed of the blade needs to be adjusted?

If it’s not cutting properly, the saw sounds funny (dragging), or if you have to push the wood through rather than let the saw do the

work.

When making a turn what are the key things to remember?

- Make relief cuts to take pressure off the blade

-Never turn / pivot the wood when the machine is off

- Turn corners slowly to avoid breaking the blade

How far do you want to keep your fingers away from the
