This Week’s Question:What about the apparent discrepancies or contradictions in the Bible?

INSTRUCTION IN THE NEGATIVE

1) Do not only be a hearer or listener of the word.

INSTRUCTION IN THE NEGATIVE

2) Hearers and listeners are deluded in their thinking.

INSTRUCTION IN THE POSITIVE

1) Be a Doer of the Word.

A Doer of the Word is someone who willingly and humbly submits

their entire life to the authority and truth of the Scriptures, making

changes in their life accordingly.

CHARACTER TRAITS OF THE HEARER

1) The hearer has sincere motives about the Word but does not follow through.

2) The hearer immediately forgets or ignores what they just saw & heard in the Word.

CHARACTER TRAITS OF THE DOER

1) The doer also looks intently at the Word.

2) The doer perseveres in looking into the Word.

3) The doer remembers the Word.

4) The doer acts upon the truth it sees & hears in the Word.

THE CONTRAST

The Hearer is deluded in their continual denial but the

Doer is blessed in their doing.

ASK YOURSELF:

Am I a Hearer of the Word?

Or

Am I a Doer of the Word?
