    Sunny Drake

    Sunny Drake is an Australian queer andtrans writer, performer and producer. 37years in the making, human critterSunny Drake is a complex piece of art.He lives his creative escapades, isusually in the middle of an art in lifeexperiment, and airs his embarrassingand tender internal world on stage.

    Sunny is largely self taught and hascreated his own unique style of multi-genre theatre, which he has beenevolving since he was a teenage girl.

    Sunny has performed in theatres, festivals, living-rooms, streets, work places, deserts,schools, universities, basements, backyards & conferences in Australia, the USA,Canada and Europe.

    He recently won the Arts Professional Award in the SummerWorks Performance Festival(2013) as well as being named by NOW Magazine for “Outstanding Performance” and“Outstanding Design”. Festival highlights include: San Francisco International ArtsFestival (2010), NACL Festival (New York, 2010), three shows in the USA NationalQueer Arts Festival (2008, 2010, 2012), plus numerous Australian festivals including NewMardi Gras (Sydney 2009 & 2010), Midsumma (Melbourne 2009 & 2010), Metro ArtsIndependents 2012, the Brisbane Festivals UNDER THE RADAR (2009) and Feast(Adelaide 2009 & 2010).

    Now a permanent resident of Canada based in Toronto, Sunny was born and grown onIndigenous Jaggera-Turrabul land (Brisbane, Australia) and comes from English and Irish

    ancestry.

    Sunny is the author of a blog that uses personal story to explore queer and trans politicswith over 70,000 readers in the past year. He is currently working on a book project.www.sunnydrake.com

    Kristy Apps and the Shotgun Shirleys

    In the clatter and noise of theAustralian singer-songwriter set, it canbe hard to find a voice that reallygrabs you. But when you listen toKristy Apps, you know you’re hearingsomething really special – it’s worthnoting to the self, “This is not music as

    Kristy Apps delivers her songs, as ifshe was hand delivering you atelegraph wrapped in a powerhouse voice, written for you or someone you know.It’s a craft she has honed over a decade of writing and performing, carving herniche in the Australian songwriter community, while winning plenty of fansaround the globe.

    She may have been long considered one of Brisbane’s most consistentlyimpressive artists, but in many ways it’s only now that KRISTY APPS is truly

    finding her place in music. She’s done the solo artist thing, smashed her SG in arock band – but now joined with her band The Shotgun Shirleys, Kristy has reallycome into her own.

    The Shotgun Shirleys comprises Ruth Gardner (guitars), Sallie Campbell (violin,mandolin, harmonium, vox), and Shiv Zimmerman (bass). Together, this grouphas been named “One of the top three shows of 2010” (Rhythms Magazine).Kristy has performed with artists like Deborah Conway, Jen Cloher, and PeteMurray at venues and festivals all over Australia – including the Woodford FolkFestival. And she’s hit the road across the USA chalking up sets at numerous

    venues including the Philadelphia Entertainment Centre and the SusquehannaFolk Festival.

    The band’s new EP is the latest in an impressive catalogue of releases for theartist, the last being her much loved release ‘Pour Me Out’ which achieved criticalacclaim including Rave Magazine Album of the Week, played on Triple J and ABCradio, and ranked in the Top 10 albums of the year by Rhythms Magazine.

    Felicity Burdett

    As a one-girl band, Felicity Burdett has stoodout at major festivals such as Splendor In theGrass, East Coast Blues & Roots, andThe Woodford Folk festival. She has alsogathered extensive fans whilst touring Brazil,Europe and New Zealand.

    After a tragic car accident claimed the lives recently of her two young daughtersaged eight and ten, Felicity Burdett has been embracing hope within hersongwriting by intricately weaving her heart felt lyrics and melodies intobeautiful creations as she spreads a message of love, hope, peace andunderstanding.

     Youthfire

    Starting from humble beginnings as a DIYbedroom music project, Youthfire is the soloproject of 23-year-old, Stephen Carmichael.

    Youthfire’s music combines an electronicsoundscape, 80’s inspired synthesisers andrecordings of acoustic instruments to create

    an atmospheric, emotive and enigmaticworld for you to dream in.

    Although still a new project, Youthfire isreceiving lots of attention. The debut singlelaunch for “World On Fire” was a sold-outshow at the Brisbane Metro Arts Theatre. Hewas invited to play at the 2014 Valley Fiesta,and was nominated as “Performer Of TheYear” at the Queen’s Ball Awards inBrisbane.

    Darren Adler

    Darren Adler began performing at the age of14 in 1980 in a duo under the name of “LiarsMoon”, which went on to win various awardsduring their time together. It was during thistime that Darren also began pursuing a solocareer which saw him playing in restaurantsand clubs across south-east Queensland.

    Having played guitar since he was a teenager,Darren accompanies himself on his Cole Clarkesemi-acoustic guitar with fully sequencedbacking tracks. This combination enablesDarren to cover many genres for manydifferent events, from coffee shops to winebars, private parties to to hotels, and theoccasional festival.

    Moving on from “Liars Moon” in the late 80’s,

    Darren has since found himself workingnumerous residencies as both a solo artist and in various duos over the years.

    With his roots laid in the country music circuit in the ‘80’s and working therestaurant, coffee shop, private events and the pub circuit for the next 30 years,Darren’s versatility and ability to play to his audience really shines.

    A regular performer over the years at The Brisbane Pride Rally and Festival Dayand performing at various functions for the LGBTI Community including theBrisBears New Years Eve Party at The Sportsman’s Hotel in 2014, Darren is

    excited to tour even more in 2015.

    A Queensland local – a specialist counsellor during the day - plugged orunplugged, Darren Adler is an entertainer that audiences relate to and enjoy.

    The Ukulele Sisters

    The last two years have seen The Ukulele Sistersdedicated to their missionary position – takingthe ‘Best of the Beaver’ convent to the wilds ofOutback Australia. All the way from Wet BeaverCreek Convent in the very far of NorthQueensland, Sister Cath O’Lick and Sister AnnGlicken bring their special brand of gospel to the

    stage.

    From INXS to Culture Club, Melanie to MarvinGaye, these two singing sisters introduce you tothe world of Wet Beaver Creek throughsong, story, and most importantly: dance.

    Seasoned performers, the sisters have graced the

    Queensland Raw Comedy stage, the Brisbanecomedy circuit, Brisbane Pride Festival, Sunshine Coast Pride Festival, Holes andPoles and Aunt Lurlene’s 60th birthday party.

    Davina Jones is not only one of the dedicated Dykes on Mykes on 4ZZZ, she isalso one half of the humourous duo, alongside Melissa Evans, that has recentlysurfaced known as the eclectic, irreverent and amazing comedic band– TheUkulele Sisters.

    “I am lucky enough to do a radio show once a week and play ukuleles and be

    funny with Melissa Evans dressed up as nuns. There's nothing more fun than TheUkulele Sisters.”

    Formed in 1998, The Brisbane Lesbian and GayPride Choir has proudly performed aroundQueensland and in other states and overseas.As a strong community group, welcoming allgay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, intersexand queer-friendly people who love to sing,their performances tell their stories. In 2014and 2015, the Choir has dedicated allperformances and proceeds to marriageequality. The choir’s repertoire for this Festivalwill feature songs based on this year’s theme–"Love is Love!”

    DJ Arsee

    "arsee" discovered her passion for music at a veryyoung age. Growing up in Adelaide around herparent’s eclectic vinyl collection, she soon becamefascinated with music. But it wasn't until arsee wasliving in the UK that her dream came to life, living witha local DJ where she quickly honed her skills.

    Later moving to Brisbane, arsee dove head first intothe Brisbane music scene and surrounded herself withthe new and exciting music that the city had to offer.

    DJ arsee is certainly no stranger to the Brisbane club scene, having just recentlybeen awarded DJ of the year at the Queens Ball Awards for 2014, in addition tofinalist in the Midsumma national DJ search in both 2011 and 2012. With DJresidencies in Fortitude Valley, you'll see her most weekends at The WickhamHotel or Fringe Bar. With her extensive knowledge of music, she is regularlycalled upon to play at annual and pop up events such as Lick Brisbane, Girl Bar,BoobyTrap, Zip Grrl Factory, Scarlet, Sugar (GC), The Closet (GC), Big Gay Day,

    Brisbane Pride Fair Day, Sunshine Coast Pride and Tropical Fruits. Whether it’sfunky vocal house, Melbourne bounce, trap or dirty electro, she always managesto find the right track to raise the adrenaline on the dancefloor up a notch.

    For arsee it’s all about the music. It’s about keeping the dance floor pumping allnight and seeing the crowd totally lose themselves. From the sexy vocals or bigbaselines, to the timeless anthems that she drops, it’s all melodically interwoven.

    Torren Foot first stepped onto the scene a numberof years ago, with music and DJ sets that speak forthemselves. With recent releases on prolificAustralian Record Labels Sweat It Out!, Onelove,Ministry Of Sound (Hussle) and So Solid, as well asheading up his own imprint Jump To Thisalongside the legendary Hey Sam, Torren Foot
