Brief Considerations

• What have you been asked to make?–The products that we have been told to make are magazines, Cd cases, DVD covers, posters, T-shirts or a Short film. –The product that I have decided to make was a Magzine which is based on the Grunge Genre of Music.

• Who is your target audience?•My target Audience is mainly aimed at the Audience between the ages of 16- 19, as I feel the content that I am making would be appropriate for that age category. Also within the brief we have been told to aim at this age category.

Mood Board Analysis

Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood• From the Images that I have collected there is some sort of repetition in the way that the Images look for example the majority of the Images

that I have chosen are all looking in the direction of the camera in order to make the reader think that they’re looking at them. Also with regards to the way that the colours are the structures are the same and the way that the cover lines all follow the same sort of style, for example if the magazine is based on a Grunge music genre then the Magazine would follow the a certain style with the magazine and their would be certain bands on the front cover. This means that the magazine will only show content which is relevant to the genre of the magazine. Also with regards to repeated colours there is a strong use of the colour yellow, this has been used a lot especially on cover lines and on tag lines. This has been used in order for the audience to see the content on the magazine clearer. The fonts which have been used in this magazine are also the same, as it makes the magazine look more professional and clearer/ bolder. Also the tone and the mood of each magazine is different for example depending on what genre the bands main cover or Image maybe darker.

How will your mood board influence your final product?I think that The mood board will influence my final product in terms of the way that it looks for example, if there was a certain magazine design that was relevant to the type of style that I was going for then I would try and copy it or do something similar. Also one other aspect of the Moodboard might help my final product is the way that the magazine looks and what kind of content to put onto the mood board in order to give it an appealing feel to the product and to make the product look better.One other way in which the Moodboard will influence my final product is that, it would give me an idea of what effects, colour correcting etc is needed on the Images or on the magazine itself.

Image StyleStudio/Location- The Location of the main Image is in a studio this has been used in order to create an effect on the reader who may look intrigued at kurt cobain as it shows that his eyes are positioned in the middle so it looks like he’s looking at you.

Angle- The main point of focus of this magazine is the Main Image you can clearly see that Kurt cobain Looking at the audience which gives the Impression that he’s happy as it links with the Coverline.Effects- The effects that this magazine creates is it gives the magazine a whole new grungy feel as the masthead looks very Classic and rough as there gaps in the font as this presents a dark feel.

Lighting- There has been the use of lighting in order to show more contrast on the Dark background so the audience can see the main image clearer.

Composition- The way in which the magazine has been set out is the way the coverlines and the structure of the magazine is set out for example the Borders and the strokes have been used in order to highlight the main elements.

Fonts- The fonts which are used in this magazine cover show hierarchy, for example the font is bolder and white in the main coverline. The font in the other coverlines is less bolder so it takes the point of focus away from the main coverline.

Image StyleStudio/Location-You can clearly see that the Image has been Edited or has been altered in a specific way in order to make the main Image look darker as the band “Trivium” are often associated with this sort of colour as it might link in with there Genre which is thrash metal/ Metalcore. This means that if the audience had no idea who the band is they could get an estimate of what the Band is like.

Angle- The main Image and the angle of the Image shows the band Looking straight at the audience or the reader with a serious look on there face which may symbolise that they mean business. One other aspect this symbolises is that the way that the coverline says “ Our new album will blow you away” this means that they are being serious and the audience may want to purchase the album and find out what it is actually like.

Effects- The effects that this has on the audience is that it makes them slightly intimidated with the way that the band members in the photo are all staring at the camera. This would make them intrigued to look them up as they are the main cover story on the Magazine. This shows the audience that they are the most important.

Composition- The way in which the main cover line looks is that you can clearly see that the main Coverline/ story is emphasised with the use of the colours on the magazine and the way that it set out with regards to hierarchy.

Post production- The Post production with the product which has been used is the way that the Image looks for example the Image has been made Darker in order for it to match the theme of the Magazine and the way that the Band looks.
