The Science of Infrared Heating!

The law of thermodynamics saythere are three ways heat can betransferred.1) Conduction- Heat travelling froman area of high temperature to anarea of low temperature within anobject.2 Convection - Heat circulation inan atmosphere of water or gas3 Radiation- Electromagnetictransfer, even within a vacuum.

The majority of heating systems relyon convection. Our Germanradiators use a combination ofconvection and radiated heat.Our Infrared heaters rely on radiatedheat only, using what is known asthe Far Infrared part of the spectrum.The sun emits electromagneticradiation across the whole of thespectrum. Our eyes happen to besensitive to the visible part of thisspectrum which we use to see. Wefeel heat from the infrared part ofthe spectrum, which is why we canfeel warm when the sun is shiningon us, but suddenly feel much colderwhen a cloud passes in front of thesun. The air temperature hasn'tchanged much, we were justbenefiting from the infrared!The air can be very cold on top of amountain, but a skier can stillsunbath and feel warm on thatmountain with the infrared heatfrom the sun.Our heaters radiate infrared whichdoes not so much heat the air, but

the objects that the infrared comesinto contact with. We have seen thatfeeling warm or cold does notnecessarily depend on thetemperature of the air!Infrared heating is a very safe heatbut very different from convectionbased heating systems

themselves have a glass face,which ins t a n d a r dversions iseither whiteor black, butagain can be any colour desired.They can also be supplied asmirrors, with a range ofstandard designs or your ownfavourite photograph can beused!

We would recommend the WISTtype (Wireless Intelligent SavingThermostat) for mostdomestic situations,but slightly morepowerful BASIC andBASIC ELEGANTversions might be more appropriatefor offices , hospitals, churches etcwhere control might be via acentralised system. In short there is something availableto suit everyone!

Remember that the power of yourheater(s) has to be right for the roomand this is determined by a formularelating to the volume of the room,the use of the room and an indicationof insulation .

Installation

Our heating panels generally requirefixing to the wall or ceiling usingfour supplied brackets. There is alsoan option of stationary or mobilestands. A cardboard template issupplied with your radiator forsquaring and easy location of youscrew holes! If not an experienced

DIY personyou may feelm o r ecomfortablehaving yourh e a t e rinstalled by aprofessional.We havep e o p l eavailable ifrequired.

We recommend the WIST (WirelessIntelligent Saving Thermostat) formost domestic installations.

These include on/off switch and avery versatile wireless operatedthermostat .

Our Far-infrared heaters are easy tohandle and well packaged with allfixings required supplied .
