Raymond Road to Seminole Highway Approved Noise Wall Locations Project ID 1206-07-05/06/09 Dane County

Dear Resident: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will be reconstructing the Verona Road (US 18/151) and Beltline (US 12/14) interchange from 2014 to 2016. Stage 1 of the reconstruction on the Beltline will extend from Seminole Highway to Whitney Way. Reconstruction of Verona Road will extend from Raymond Road to Nakoma Road. With the reconstruction, WisDOT considered the implementation of five noise walls. Voting for the five proposed noise walls occurred from May 3, 2012, to June 18, 2012. WisDOT requested votes from the benefited receptors at each wall location. The decision to construct a noise wall at a particular location was determined by a vote of support by a simple majority of the property owners and the residents benefited by the wall. To have been eligible to vote on whether a noise wall should be constructed, your residence needed to be benefited by the noise wall. A benefited residence must receive a minimum 8 decibel reduction in sound level as a result of the proposed noise wall. The five walls on the Verona Road project were supported by the majority of property owners and residents that cast a vote. All five walls received a simple majority of votes supporting their construction and will be built as part of the Verona Road project. The enclosures include a schematic showing the approximate locations of the noise walls as well as the proposed stacked limestone aesthetics that will be used on each side of the wall.
