As time goes on and our institutions grow… nothing should be left undone that in any way would add to their comfort and happiness”. Dr. Jennie Schofield

Schofield Care

Schofield Care has been serving Western New York for 110 years. Initially known as The Wheel Chair Home, founded by Dr. Jennie Schofield, Schofield has been a resident in the KenTon area almost since its inception. However, our reach goes beyond the village and town borders whether it be with residents in our nursing home, rehab patients, those receiving home health care services, or those who have participated in Scofield’s Adult Day Health Care programs.Due to the limitations created by the COVID 19 virus, Schofield Care commemorated this special anniversary by “hosting” a non-event event gala in October 2020. We are especially grateful to our sponsors, donors, friends and family members who contributed to this celebration. Their partnership impacts Schofield’s very important work in caring for the most vulnerable, frail adults we serve and helps provide the necessities for their comfort.Because of their generous support, we are able to purchase a new bladder scanner, 20 wheelchairs and 10 bariatric chairs.

Thank You!

New Training ManikinDue to the generosity of Schofield’s Board of Directors member Darlene Maclay and donor Cecelia Kohlmeier, we were able to replace our dated training manikin with a state-of-the-art model. Darcee, much more realistic of a resident, replaces our former 20 year old manikin. Madhulika Topolski, LPN, Schofield’s In-Service Coordinator, is very excited to welcome Darcee to her department. This modern day manikin enables Madhu to test skill competencies, provide guidance on Schofield’s Policies and Procedures when assisting and caring for our residents both in long-term and short-term care. IV’s, injections and wound care are just a few of the necessary features Darcee brings to training. Our nursing staff is most grateful to Darlene and Cecelia. Thank you!

THANK YOU to all our donors whose gifts were received from January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. You assist us in serving those who are in Schofield’s care. Please contact the Schofield Foundation at (716) 436-6307 should you find an error or

omission in our listings so we may correct our records.

Jennie Schofield SocietyIn 1910, Dr. Jennie Schofield served with a group of volunteers to establish the Wheel Chair Home, now known as Schofield Residence. We are sincerely grateful to the Jennie Schofield Society members below who have provided for Schofield in their wills, trusts, retirement plans, life insurance policies, or other estate plans. Through their generosity, they hold the future of Schofield close to their hearts.

Schofield…A Legacy of CaringJennie Schofield SocietyMany times we think charitable gifts, or planned gifts, only come from wealthy people. In reality, many estate gifts come from people of with a variety of giving capacities. Donors like you include legacy gifts to charities in their wills, as percentage of their estate, or through a distribution from an IRA*. A simple charitable bequest provides meaningful support for the future of Scofield Care. Leaving a legacy through a charitable gift will minimize estate taxes. In any case, be sure your will and other estate plans reflect your wishes. An up-to-date, valid will also protects your loved ones. If you are interested in a bequest to Schofield Care, please speak with your attorney and/or financial planner. Should you elect to leave a bequest to Schofield, you will need to provide your advisor the following information:

Schofield Foundation Mission Advancement Office 3333 Elmwood Ave. Kenmore, NY 14217

Our EIN is 16-1190702 (This is how we are identified by the IRS)Bequest gifts have no financial limitations and may be made for a general or specific purpose.Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Linda Sroka, Director of Mission Advancement at (716) 436-6307.*Do you normally take a distribution from your IRA and don’t really need it or want it to affect your income? You can make a gift directly to Schofield Care, and you may lower your taxes, too. Your financial advisor will be able to assist you.

Our VisionDevelop healthcare, residential living, and community based services to benefit adults of all ages.

Our MissionProvide knowledgeable and compassionate care that enhances the lives of those we serve.
