OBJECTIVES• Honoroutstandinguniversitystudentswhoshowsoundfinancialacumenandknowledgeaboutfinan-

cialplanning.• Raiseawarenessoffinancialplanningamonguniversitystudents.• Highlighttheyoungtalentstotheentirefinancialplanningindustry.• Furtherstrengthenpublicawarenessofthebenefitsoffinancialplanningatanearlyage.• Promotethesixstepsofpersonalfinancialplanningprocess.• Introducefinancialplanningasarewardingcareertouniversitystudents.

ELIGIBILITY• Allfull-timeundergraduatestudentsstudyingatanyuniversityinHongKongrecognizedbytheHKSAR

Government.• Participationingroupsofthreetofourwhocomefromthesameuniversity.

FORMAT• TheAwardisdividedinto3rounds.

First Round - Detailed Financial Plan Allteamswillreceiveastandardcaseandarerequiredtosubmitafulldetailedwrittenfinancialplanthatfulfilsthefollowingcriteria:

• Shouldincludeathoroughanalysisandcomprehensivesolutionofthestandardcase,writtenstraighttothepoint.

• ShouldbewritteninEnglishusinga12-pointfontinMicrosoftWord.• Shouldcontainnomorethan12pagesofA4paper(excludingfrontcover,backcoverandappendices).

Backgroundandreferenceinformationshouldbeattachedasappendices.• Shouldsubmit3copiesofyourplanbydeadline.• Shouldattachacopyofyourapplicationformoraseparatesheetcontainingyourpersonalparticularswith

thewrittenplan.DoNOTincludeanyofyourpersonalinformationandnameofuniversityinyourplan.

Assessment Criteria:i. Applicationoffinancialknowledgeii. Demonstrationoftheunderstandingoffinancialplanningconceptsiii.Relevancyofthesolutionsprovidediv.Comprehensivenessandclarityofwrittenpresentation

AmongtheteamsfromeachUniversity,theteamthathasmetthebenchmarksetforthe2010Awardsandwiththehighestscorewillbeselectedtoenterthesecondroundcompetition.

Second Round - Video Presentation of RecommendationsTheselectedteamsarerequiredtopresenttheirrecommendationsbasedonthefollowingcriteria:

• Shouldsubmittheirpresentationinvideo format(mpgformat)andprovidesupplementaryinformationinwrittenformattoIFPHKofficebydeadline.

• EntirepresentationshouldbeconductedinEnglishandshouldNOTexceed10minutes.

TheTop3teamswillbeselectedtoenterthefinalround.

Assessment Criteria:i. Comprehensivenessandclarityofboththewrittenandverbalpresentationii. Understandingofclientsituationiii.Competencetoprovidesoundfinancialplanningadvicesandrecommendations

Final Round - PresentationTheselectedTop3teamsofstudentswillreceiveatopicrelatedtocurrentissueoffinancialplanningandneedtopresentatthefinalroundbasedonthefollowingcriteria:

• Presentthegiventopicandtheirviewswithin15minutesinEnglish.• Eachteamwillhave5minutestocommentontheotherteamandpresenttheirowncommentsorsuggestions.• 5-minuteQ&Asessionforthepanelofjudgesforeachteamafterthepresentation.• The1st,2ndand3rdprizewinnerswillbeselectedbythepanelofjudges.

TheFinalRoundsessionwillbeopenedupforuniversityprofessors,awardsparticipants,universitystudentsandmedia,withsharingonpresentationperformanceandcareerprospectsofafinancialplannerfromjudgesandindustrypractitioners.

Assessment Criteria:i. Knowledgeonthecurrentfinancialplanningissueii. Analyticalskillsiii.Spontaneousreactiontojudges’questions

PRIZES/ RECOGNITION• Firstprize–Internshipprogram*,HK$10,000scholarship,trophyandcertificate.• Secondprize–HK$8,000scholarship,trophyandcertificate.• Thirdprize–HK$5,000scholarship,trophyandcertificate.• Consolationprizes–HK$1,000scholarshipsandcertificates.• One-yearIFPHKstudentmembershipandCertificatesofMeritsforthetop18teams.• TrophiesforeachUniversity,whoseteamswon1st,2ndor3rdprizes.• Certificatesforallteamswhocompletedthe1stround.• AmbassadorProgram–thetop18teamswillbeinvitedtojointheprogramandrepresenttheIFPHKto
