SCM FRIGO’S CO2 line

SCM Frigo has developed the most comprehensive range of CO2 units in the market for commercial and industrial application, becoming LEADER on the European market:

• Low temperature compressor pack, with subcritical cycle.

• COMBI system (HFC - CO2), with cascade concept.

• Transcritical Booster system and Transcritical brine chillers.

• CO2 pump stations MT & LT.

UMCE LINE: LT packs with subcritical cycle

The UMCE line includes models with 2, 3 or 4 compressors in parallel, with cooling capacity from 5 to 260 kW @ -35°C/-5°C. Condensation with ethylene/propylene glycol or in alternative direct expansion with HFC and electronic expansion valve (EEV installed on the PHE condenser). Electronic regulation by controller PCO2 (Carel), AK PC (Danfoss) or XC1015 (Dixell). Bitzer or Dorin compressor range available. Predisposition for connecting a cooling system on the liquid receiver for protection against prolonged stops. Two versions available: STD version with MWP 45 bar in HP, 30 bar in LP. HP version with MWP 52 bar in HP, 30 bar in LP.

COMBI system with cascade concept

The Combi line consist in a complete packages for refrigeration with cascade concept operating with HFC for the MT side and CO2 for the MT and / or LT side. Electronic regulation by controller PCO3 (Carel) or AK PC (Danfoss).

There are 3 possible solutions in our STD range:

HFC MT pack (R134a/R407F/R404a) DX,

LT pack CO2 DX

MT Brine Chiller (-4/-8°C) with low HFC

charge, LT pack CO2 DX

MT CO2 pumping (critical charge HFC

pack), LT pack CO2 DX

Combi pack - R134a DX in MT(60 kW @-7°C/+45°C), CO2 pack DX in LT (27 kW @-35°C/-2°C)

Transcritical Booster systems Description

SCM Frigo has developed the booster line that consists of a combination of a Transcritical pack MWT MTDX and a subcritical pack UMCE BT connected in a common refrigerant circuit. To design the Transcritical Line SCM FRIGO SpA has involved the University of Padova.

Transcritical booster unit – indoor installation (200 kW LT - 60 kW MT @ -35°C/-10°C/35 °C/90bar)

Technical specifications

• Up to 8 medium temperature compressors in parallel

• Up to 4 low temperature compressors in parallel

• Bitzer or Dorin compressors range available.

• Possibility to install leading compressor under the inverter (for both MT and LT)

• Optimized COP of the unit by using dedicated pack and valves controllers

• Heat recovery management

• Possibility to have closed frame for outdoor installations

• Safety condensing unit for back up

CO2 pumping stations

SCM FRIGO SpA. has developed a full range of CO2 pumping stations, to be coupled with HFC, CO2 or NH3

units that include MT applications, LT applications and Blast Freezers.

Technical specifications MT CO2 pump station

• Capacity range from 30kW up to 350kW

• Insulated CO2 vessel with internal volume up to 1200 lt

• Double CO2 pump, 1 running and 1 std by, automatic rotation

• Max and minimum level control, possibility to have continuous control

• MWP (HP/LP) 40 bar / 30 bar (special execution on request)

• Optional emergency condensing unit for back up

MT pump stations can be combined with CO2, NH3 or HFC MT unit. As an option they can be built with

subcritical compressor pack on the same frame for LT DX users.

High efficiency of heat exchange thanks to excellent thermal properties of CO2 and to flooded evaporators

• Smaller pipes diameter (lower costs) with respect to HFC or Glycol

• Safety in case of power shortage (keeping cool the liquid receiver keeps under control the whole

installation)
