Regulatory Overview
• Announcement of education reforms and an Expert Council appointed to evaluate Education System and make recommendations. Due early 2021.
• Key initiatives announced by the Government to restructure the public education system and to be implemented by the local Governments are:
1. Increase in public universities tuition to cover 15 to 25% of the total cost. Second to fourth registrations up to 100% of cost • Continental students, non resident citizens, to pay full tuition • Professional Masters (non qualifying) tuition increased up to 40-50%
2. Rationalization of degrees, eliminating those with less than 50 students 3. Increase of professors’ teaching workload from 24 to 32 credits/year.
