  • Matter: Anything with volume or mass

A football is a pure substance because it has weight witch is a part of mass and it has volume because it is visible and it takes up space. 4. Not Matter

  • Not Matter: anything without volume or mass

Space is not matter because it has nomass or volume. 5. Pure Substance

  • Pure Substance: a substance that cannot be broken down into other substances

Water is a pure substancebecause it cannot be brokenDown. 6. Element

  • Element: a chemical substance that contains only one substance

Gold (Au) is an element because it contains only one substance 7. Mixture

  • Mixture: a combination of different substances

Soap is a mixture because it is made up of different substances 8. Emulsion
