Week 3 : This is your home learning grid. Each day you can pick

We suggest that these tasks could be completed throughout the day, in 20/30 minute bursts with breaks in between.We have also included a list of our usual daily tasks to run alongside the English, Maths and Other Curriculum Areas activities. Some activities will need online access, please remember that this does not need to be a laptop/PC…this can be accessed using different platforms such as laptop, computer, Ipad, android tablet, kindle fire, mobile phones, etc. If you have any problems accessing the activities below, please contact your class teacher via the class email address.

ENGLISH MATHS OTHER CURRICULUM AREAS

Read the Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle (or watch it on You Tube.)Make a list of all the food that the hungry caterpillar ate.

Make sure you have a go at writing independently. Use a sound mat to help you with letter shapes and write the sounds you can hear in the words. It doesn’t have to be spelt correctly. Just ‘have a go.’

Look at the life cycle of a caterpillar. (You can look in a book or on the internet.)

What stages do they go through?What do they turn into?

Can you make a food alphabet?

Write the alphabet on a piece of paper and try and find one food beginning with each letter. Some will be easier than others!

Which of the foods that you choose are fruits?

Can you make up your own story in the same style as ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’?

Try writing ‘The Very Thirsty Caterpillar’. Change the foods he eats for drinks. Eg On Monday, he drunk 1 milkshake. On Tuesday, he drunk 2 cups of coffee. On Wednesday, he drunk 3 glasses of water etc.

Illustrate your story and maybe make it into a book.(This could just be sheets of paper folded in half to make a book.)
