Supply List for a 12 year School Book

• One package of Designer Series Paper • 3 packages of coordinating 12x12 cardstock (you will have

cardstock left over) This is used for the scrapbook page bases as well as the mats for the second page.

• 3 packages of coordinating 8 ½ x 11 cardstock (you will have cardstock left over) This is used for the mat for the photo on the pocket and the tab punch to pull out your hidden “stuff” in your pocket. (if you don’t want a mat under your photo, you can get away with no 8 ½ x 11 cardstock)

• Tab Punch • 1 ¼ Circle Punch • Extra embellishments such as brads or buttons if you desire

This is a perfect class, or afternoon activity to do with a friend. You will need one package of Designer Series Paper, and 36 sheets of 12x12 coordinating cardstock as well as 24 sheets of 8 ½ x 11 pieces of coordinating cardstock. This will make a 12 year, or 24 page school scrapbook! (You will have some cardstock left over as well as Designer Series Paper.) The dimensions for the scrapbook pages are as follows: Page 1: Background – 12 x 12 Wide Horizontal Strip – 3 x 12 Narrow Horizontal Strip – 1 x 12 Cardstock for the pocket background – 6 ¼ x 9 ¼ Designer Series Paper for the pocket – 6 x 9 Mat for the Photo – 5 ¼ x 6 ½ Photo Size – 5 x 6 ¼ Scrap for the tabs Page 2: Background – 12 x 12 Squares for mounting – 3 7/8 x 3 7/8 (nine of these – if you cut these from a 12x12 sheet you have the least amount of scrap) Designer Series Paper Squares – 3 ¾ x 3 ¾ (three of these – I covered one of the squares partially with a photo as I wanted to use all the photos included) Photos – 3 ¾ x 3 ¾

Cutting Guide for the Designer Series Paper

To make the most of your 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper, start by cutting off a 3 inch strip. This will leave you with a 12 x 9 rectangle. Cut this rectangle in half and you are left with two 6 x 9 rectangles that can be used to make your Designer Series layer on your pockets. The 3 x 12 strip can be used on a scrapbook page as the horizontal strip on the right side.

Assembling the Scrapbook Page Step 1. There is nothing fancy or tricky about assembling these pages. The are as they look. I wanted to keep them simple so the eyes would focus on the details like the journaling and the samples of student work. Begin by laying the 1 x 12 inch strip of Designer Series Paper 1 ¾ from the bottom of the scrapbook page. Step 2. Next lay the 3 x 12 directly above the 1 inch strip. Step 3. Apply the Designer Series Paper to the Cardstock base (6 ¼ x 9 ¼ piece of Cardstock) for the pocket. Step 4. Punch a half circle out of the top of this pocket. This makes it easier to slide the documents, journaling or extra photos in and out of the pocket. Step 5. Adhere the Cardstock to the front of the Designer Series Paper for the mat for the photograph. Step 6. Stamp the title using your alphabet of choice. I stamped mine using ABC Upper and Lower and Basic Gray ink. Step 7. Find some quotes from your child’s report card you would like to highlight in your journaling. Type them on the computer and print them out on Whisper White Cardstock. I used bullets and then put a brad where the bullet was.

Step 8. To complete the left hand page, adhere the squares on the 12x12 page first. I apply adhesive to the backside of all the squares, lay them on my page then flip them over to adhere when I am happy with their positions. Step 9. Apply the Designer Series Paper to the square fronts where desired. Step 10. Take pictures and adhere samples of your child’s favourite work. These photos are 3 ¾ x 3 ¾. Have fun!!!

NOTE: On the second page of the scrapbook, I photographed some of Mark’s work over the course of the year. His handwriting and spelling errors are adorable!! I want to cherish these but I’m not sure if the originals are scrapbook friendly so I took pictures of them. I also asked Mark what was important to him and included those memories on the page for him (his backpack???)

OK, there is one little trick. It looks like the tab is attached to the full document from the pocket view, however, I only adhered the one side to the report card so I didn’t end up sealing the report card shut! Tricky!!!
