Important note to U.K. higher education institutions:
Trinity College School (TCS) students applying to post-secondary study in the U.K. are cautioned that some U.K. universities equate an Advanced Placement (AP) mark of ‘5’ with Ontario final course marks ranging from 80%-86%.
Given this incongruence, TCS students pursuing post-secondary study in the U.K. may enroll in AP courses (as offered by TCS) without expectation of pursuing AP qualification. Thus, TCS students may be excused from writing AP examinations in May. All other curricular expectations of AP level study must be met throughout the course; these courses will be notated as ‘Enriched’ on UCAS and related correspondence.
As is the case with all AP courses studied, the affiliated Ontario Ministry of Education credit (as determined by TCS) must be completed concurrently. Students pursuing Enriched study must declare their intention to their guidance counsellor and the academic office in the fall term.

• Habits like courage, creativity, compassion, integrity and perseverance are ingrained in our liberal arts curriculum and throughout our comprehensive co-curricular programs in athletics, arts and service learning.
• Given the emphasis on personal development, discovery and complete engagement, the School has developed academic policies to underscore the importance of a balanced education:
• The School’s AP policy states that students can take a maximum of 2 AP courses in Grade 11 and 4 AP courses in Grade 12 for a total of 6.
• Grade 12 students take a maximum of 6 classes in their final year.
• Many of our students complete a summer course.• TCS offers a summer study program at Cambridge

Grading System and Mark Distribution Ontario universities require six 4U/4M credits to be considered for admission. All courses ending in U and M are university preparatory; U courses are considered to be at the honours level.
Grading at TCS is on a 100 point scale (50% is a pass). Ontario grading standards are mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
TCS does not rank students nor does it calculate a grade point average. Instead, the mark distribution chart provides a context for an individual student’s transcript.
