Tayside Biorepository
Tayside Biorepository is an
accredited bio-resource
that can help to acquire a
large range of prospectively
collected fresh tissue,
pathology Archive Material,
diagnostic & surgical surplus
material, banked or pre-
existing collections (frozen) and
tissue microarrays (bespoke
or previously constructed). In
addition we can provide a large
range of tissue services to help
with the generation of data for
research projects.

Biomarker Core Lab
We handle, processes and
analyse blood samples for
biomarkers using various
immunoassay techniques
including ELISA and RIA and
multiplex assays [Luminex,
MSD, Quanterix platforms]. If
you have your own antibody-
sets we can adapt them onto
ultra-sensitive platforms
and multiplex with existing
biomarkers. Access to directly
use some of the platforms
yourself is also an option.

1. How much energy can be saved
each year by running a freezer at
-70°C instead of -80°C?
2. It is good practice to keep a fume
hood sash as wide open as possible
at all times. True or false?
3. If everything unnecessary across
campus was turned off for two
weeks, how much money would the
University save?

Audit and clear out your freezers to maximise space
utilisation, reduce energy use and save up to £1000 per year.
Take the stairs if possible. A 15 second lift journey uses as
much energy as a 60W light bulb does in an hour.
Energy from devices like PCs being left on overnight
accounts for 1% of the world’s CO emissions. Turn it off!
