RU Lecture Marathon March 20 2013: Law as Authority or Law as Unity?
My lecture was attended inter alia by the President of Iceland, Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson.
Other Relevant Information
Prior to my arrival at RU in October 2011 I had been very active as an Attorney to the Supreme
Court. During my legal career I have litigated dozens of cases, and just prior to arriving here I
was mostly busy with the banking crisis and its aftermath, representing large creditors of the
failed Icelandic banks in several court cases which were judged by 7 Supreme Court Justices
which only happens in the very biggest cases.
It may well be noted that through my work as an attorney I have in recent years written a large
number of legal opinions in this field. I mention this because it might worth noting that my
academic research did not start until 2012.
