POPE FRANCIS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY
May Pope Francis’ words strengthen you, refresh you, and illuminate the pages of your
own life story.
I hope you are enjoying the reflections that Pope Francis offers about the importance of family.
7. Be Patient.
Are you married? Be a saint by loving and taking care of your husband
or your wife, as Christ did for the Church. . . . Are you a parent or a
grandparent? Be a saint by passionately teaching your children or
grandchildren to know and to follow Jesus. It takes so much patience to
do this: to be a good parent, a good grandfather, a good mother, a
good grandmother; it takes so much patience and with this patience
comes holiness: by exercising patience.

CHILD SAFETY STANDARDS: KEEPING OUR CHILDREN SAFE
Standard 5:
All staff and community members need to know how to reportan incident if they suspect a child is being hurt in some way or isfeeling unsafe. At Cana we have a flow chart that informs staff, students and parents about who they need to speak to shouldthey have any concerns about the safety of a student. This flowchart is on our website!
Standard 6:
Cana Catholic Primary School needs to constantly identify, reduce, remove or make some changes to things that mightmake children feel unsafe. At Cana we conduct regular RiskAssessments to inform how best to reduce or remove unsafe risksthat children may encounter. Some examples of when riskassessments are conducted are; excursions, incursions, celebration days, hot food lunch and induction of workexperience students.
You may access any of the Child Safe Standards at https://providers.dhhs.vic.gov.au/child-safe-standards

SCHOOL CROSSING !!!
It is very important ALL parents and ALL children use the school crossing at ALL timesduring drop off and pick up. Traffic is the most busiest at these times and the safetyof everyone is most important.
On a Friday 16thAug, a student was hit by a vehicle driving past. This occurred as thestudent ran across the street to their parent/s during pick up time without using theschool crossing and without looking. The driver called the office quite distress andconcerned and wanted to raise an alert to Cana. Luckily the driver was going at thecorrect speed and we are fortunate that no one was injured.
We stress the importance of safety at Cana and urge ALL parents and ALL childrento ensure they use the school crossing at all times.
CAR PARK & GATE !!!
Please note that the front gates are Automated. This gate is programmed to open ata pre-determined time for end of school day pick up.Please DO NOT request for the car park gate to be opened as it will ONLY openautomatically at the scheduled time.
