Last year the Ministry of Education and the NZEI negotiated a new teachers’ collective agreement. As part of this
agreement it was agreed that teachers would receive an extra 8 days for planning and implementation of new curriculum
information and also professional development. The 8 days must be taken during 2020 - 2022. One was held earlier in the
year when there was a professional development day for all teachers on the Waimea Plains. The second one will be held
for most primary teachers on the Waimea Plains on Friday 23rd October 2020 – the Friday prior to Labour weekend.

STUDENT COUNCIL
My apologies to Nadia Lourens, in the middle
above. I incorrectly said it was her sister
Chloe who was one of the secretaries for our
Student Council. Sorry Nadia
Every syndicate has been busy focusing on their
own syndicate topic this term. The Senior
syndicate has been studying bridges. They have
looked at the different types of bridges and some
of the famous bridges in the world. Here are
some examples from Rooms 1, 3, 4 and 5.
LOTS OF LEARNING CONTINUES TO HAPPEN
Also here are some excellent sketches of a deer’s head,
sketched by Room 1 children. Mr Neal supplied the deer’s
head – one of his many from home!
