SCHOOL EVENTS
INTERACT CLUB: VISIT TO ARSH KANYA GURUKUL
On 5th October 2017, 20 students of Class IX, X and XI of Cambridge School, Noida along
with the Teacher In-charge Ms. Supriya Gupta, visited the Arsh Kanya Gurukul which is a place
providing platform to around 102 girls from underprivileged background from all over India. These
destitute girls between the age group of 7 to 18 are taught a variety of subjects like Science,
Maths, and Sanskrit etc. These girls have a dream to become teachers, IPS officers, doctors for
which Gurukul is providing them vocational training in sewing, computer, yoga etc. to develop
various skills. Equal attention is given towards their food and hygiene.
Interact club on the occasion of Deepawali distributed gift hampers which included
eatables along with stationary items, detergent soap, bathing soaps, tooth brush, tooth
paste and sanitary napkins. A peek into the lives of the young girls was a very insightful
experience for the students, who pledged to help these girls in future also.
INTERACT CLUB: DISTRICT INTERACT LEADERSHIP ASSEMBLY
On 11th October, 2017, 30 Interactors of Class IX, X and XI of Cambridge School, Noida
attended DISTRICT INTERACT LEADERSHIP ASSEMBLY at Amity University, Noida along with
their teacher Ms. Neelam Sharma. Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor
Amity University. It was a proud moment for Cambridge School, Noida when Anushree
Mukerjee of Class XI was declared elected as ZIR for the year 2017.

The theme for this year was Choo Lo Aasmaan”- DILA 2017. Over 40 schools participated in
this programme. Students were encouraged to actively participate in various activities and
importance of such activities in their career was highlighted.

MAGIC SHOW As per the DIOS‟ directive, a magic show by V. K. Samrat group in association with Red
Cross Society was organized in the school auditorium on 9th October, 2017 for classes VI-VIII.
The purpose of the magic show was not only to enthral young minds but also make them aware
of various social issues. The Magician kept the audience spell bound by his tricks and tickled
their funny bones. He made the students aware of various issues like to avoid taking eatables
from outsiders, not getting tattoos and ear /nose piercing done with pre -used syringes as
it could lead to AIDS. The magician also conveyed the message to students that magic is all
about tricks and Science. He also demonstrated to them as to how to perform the tricks to
entertain their family members.
TALK BY ASHOK SAJJANHAR
Cambridge School, Noida organized a lecture by Ambassador Ashok Sajjanhar on Rohingya
Muslims on 10th October, 2017. Ambassador Sajjanhar has served as Ambassador of India to
Kazakhstan, Sweden and Latvia. He has also received a National Award by the Government of
Latvia for strengthening bilateral ties and friendship. Currently, he is a Visiting Professor at the
Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development, Chandigarh and Member, Governing
Board of Sanskriti Educational Foundation.
He gave a brief history about the Muslim Rohingyas who live in the western state of
Rakhine in Myanmar. He enlightened the gathering about the current crisis of the Rohingyas
regarding their deportment, settlement and being a group without a nationality; India‟s

relationship with Myanmar and Bangladesh; India‟s domestic and International challenge
and a need for deft diplomacy by India to resolve this issue. He also suggested some
solutions with reference to the current status of the Rohingyas.
The discussion was followed by a Question- Hour session where the Ambassador answered the
queries of the students. The Lecture was attended by Dr. Kalyani Roy, Secretary of SAE, the
Principal , Ms. Mahuya Mandal and the students of Cambridge School, Noida and its sister
schools. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by a student.
ANTI-POLLUTION RALLY
“ANTI-POLLUTION “Day was observed at Cambridge School, NOIDA on 16th October, 2017.
The purpose of the day was to create awareness regarding the harmful effects of burning
crackers. Children prepared placards with slogans that depicted the hazards of burning of
crackers leading to noise and air pollution. A special morning assembly was held in the
auditorium where children of class IX presented a skit to build awareness about the harmful effects
of burning crackers. Later on at 11:30 am, a rally was taken out to the Junior wing as part of
the awareness campaign. A skit was also presented in the junior wing.
UN DAY
Cambridge School, Noida celebrated the UN DAY with zeal and enthusiasm on 24th October
2017. A special assembly was conducted by the students where the importance of UN Day was
emphasized by highlighting its aims and objectives and various activities were conducted for

classes VI-VIII during the day. Class VI participated in poster making and slogan writing
competition. An Intraclass quiz was organized for class VII and class VIII participated in a poster
making competition. It was an enriching experience for the students and the activities enhanced
the students‟ awareness about UN Day.
MUSICAL CONCERT
Musical Concert was held on 25th October, 2017 in the Junior Wing of Cambridge School,
Noida. The programme commenced by observing one minute silence to pay respects to the
legendary Indian Classical Singer Padma Vibhushan Smt. Girija Devi. A „bhajan‟ was sung to
pay tribute to the late Thumri Queen.
The highlights of the programme included an English song by students and western music
teacher, an Assamese song and a dance by Junior Wing teachers.
The Senior School Choir mesmerised the audience by presenting a song based on Diwali.
Separate group performance by the students on the table and pakhawaj enthralled the audience
with their highly synchronised rhythmic beats. The programme was attended by Dr. Kalyani Roy
Secretary SAE, Col D Chaudhary, Ms. Nalin Anjum, Principal Ms. Mahuya Mandal and Head
Mistress Ms.Seema Karki.
AC DEB MEMORIAL LECTURE
The 7th AC Deb Memorial Lecture was organised by Society for Advancement of Eduction at
Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri on 31st October, 2017. The programme was attended by Dr.
Kalyani Roy, Secretary SAE, distinguished members of the management committee, Principals,
Vice Principals, Headmistresses, teachers and students of the Cambridge group of Schools. The
proceedings began with a soulful rendition of the school song by the school choir followed by the
welcome address by Principal, Cambridge School, Noida, Ms. Mahuya Mandal. The
esteemed guest speaker for the occasion was Shri Jairam Ramesh, Member of Rajya Sabha
who enlightened the audience on various aspects of education.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Jairam Ramesh pointed out that inequality in the society is by birth
and it is education which can eradicate these differences. Life is challenging outside and
students need to be informed about the changing scenario. Technology should be used in
a creative manner; it is an instrument to acquire knowledge thus empowering the
individual.

He expressed his disappointment that „books‟ are becoming endangered and one must read
and read beyond – it is that breadth of exposure that will help one to face the challenges of life.
One must give back to society what society has given us. He concluded by saying that we need
more and more entrepreneurs like Shri AC Deb the founding father of Cambridge group of
Schools who had the vision to develop an educational programme and environment to nurture
boys and girls who will endeavour to be good citizens of the country and distinguish themselves in
all walks of life.

Team work is a co-operative or coordinated effort on the part of a group of persons acting together
as a team to complete a given task/fulfil a goal. Self –awareness, Critical Thinking and Empathy
are the life skills to be enhanced.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS
SEMINAR ON INDIGO
7 students of Fashion Designing attended a seminar on „Indigo‟ at Cambridge School,
Srinivaspuri on 12th October 2017. The seminar began with an interesting film focussing on the
historical background of „indigo‟, its cultivation and the exploitation involved in indigo making.
Students also walked the indigo coloured ramp in a fashion show that showcased indigo dyed
western and ethnic garments, draped in innovative and amazing styles. The creativity and
freshness of the half hour presentation delighted the audience
PRODUCT DESIGNING
A Career Workshop on “Product Designing” was held at Cambridge School, Noida on 13th
October 2017. Students of Classes XI &XII attended the presentation by Mr. Abhimanyu Nohwar
who is a graduate of the prestigious National Institute of Design. The workshop was informative
for students who wish to pursue a career in the field of Design and Fine Arts.
RENDEZVOUS 2017 At the Annual Cultural Festival “Rendezvous 2017” IIT Delhi a Technical Workshop was
organized for School Students in Association with Robothlon from 14th-16th October 2017. The
following students of Cambridge School, Noida participated in this technical workshop based
on Hardware and Software. Students had a great learning experience and were awarded
participation certificate.
WORKSHOP ON CYBER SECURITY & ETHICAL HACKING
Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri as the zonal centre organized a 30 Hour (4 days) Cyber
Security & Ethical hacking National Level Technical training programme in association with
Spring Fest(IIT Kharagpur) along with workshop partner MakeIntern from 3rd to 6th October,
2017. Mr. Sahil Baghla, who is one of India‟s best state sponsored hacker conducted the training

attended this programme and Pritish Ranjan Verma of class XII-C has been shortlisted among
the 5 qualifiers for the final round which will be held at IIT Kharagpur Campus in January, 2018
from this Zonal centre.
They were taught about ways to stay safe from phishing, data theft online and almost at any
other place where cybercrime can potentially happen. The workshop consisted of theoretical
learning as well as some live demonstrations where it was further proved how important cyber
security is in today‟s world of real time applications.
CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TEACHERS
WORKSHOP ON „CREATING A SECURE BASE‟
A workshop on „Creating a secure base‟ was organised by Fortis Hospital, Noida on 13th
October, 2017 which highlighted the need to create a secure base for the children in the school
setting.
Various factors of influence which operate upon the students were discussed and how
important it is to identify the antecedents of the behaviour problems. Often in our zeal to
provide solutions we neglect the environmental triggers of a particular concern like peer
pressure, parenting styles, media exposure etc.
The various counsellors, school teachers and special educators raised their concerns and shared
their views on the topic. Some strategies were highlighted in the workshop in order to address the
issues of the students like social skills training, peer mentoring, reporting conflict, anti-
bullying programs which can sensitise the students and work on the problem areas of the
student. The workshop was attended by Ms. Sunetra Banerjee and Ms. Roomki Mitra
WORKSHOP: REMODELLED ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE-CLASS X BY CBSE
Ms. Puneet Kaur, Ms. Kiran Sibal and Ms. Shalini Verma of Cambridge School, Noida attended a
workshop on Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Remodelled Assessment Structure-

TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS
VISIT TO OKHLA BIRD SANCTUARY, NOIDA
Environment Club students of classes VI – VIII of Cambridge School, Noida visited Okhla
Bird Sanctuary on 7th October, 2017 on the occasion of Wild Life Week celebration.
An interactive session with the Environmentalist and Limca Book of Records Winner Mr.
Rakesh Khatri was organised in which he discussed the need for conservation of birds as many
species were on the verge of extinction. The students had an enjoyable experience when they
were taken for a nature walk and shown some species of birds like the Kingfisher,
Stonehead etc.
A fun quiz was conducted by the organization to identify birds and animals. Later the organisers
shared amazing facts about the respective animals and birds which was followed by painting and
slogan writing competition.
Nandini of class VII E won the First prize for painting and Anvita of VIII E won the Second
prize for the Slogan Writing Competition. The visit was educative and also entertaining.
