Parkwood Green’s value for Term 4: CARING
For the last 6 weeks, every Monday myself, Brandan, Gabriel,
Daniel, Jacob and Dylan, all went on a trip to Taylors Hill Men’s
Shed program.
While we were there we got to do some woodwork and learn how
to use tools like hammers, saws, vice, screwdrivers and tape
measures. We built a toolbox and at the top it has a tray that you
can slide from side to side and you can put stuff in the tray at the
bottom.
We also built a little tray that you can put breakfast on for yourself,
or maybe your mum, so you can bring it up to your bed and eat
breakfast in bed. I would like to thank all the Men’s Shed people
that helped us do the woodwork.
On our last day we got to bring all of our woodwork home, and we
got to have a special celebration afternoon tea. We had
chocolate, lollies, chips and even a Freddo Frog Ice-cream cake.

Dear Parents/Carers,
CLASS PLACEMENT FORMS
By now you all will have had the opportunity to provide
us with your thoughts about how your child learns best
and with whom. This form provided is a chance to be
transparent and to inform you that putting classes
together is a BIG process that takes time, consideration
of all factors and is not done lightly. Please be reas-
sured that this process is not about choosing a teacher
but is about the giving of information. Parent infor-
mation written on these forms is one of four things used
in placing students into a class for the next year. In rela-
tion to continuing a class for a second year with the
same teacher, we will again be trialling this with some
classes and seeking feedback from teachers, students
and parents. Such a system can enhance learning, and
so, is the underlying reason for our interest. Again,
teachers will be consulted.
TERM 4 CURRICULUM DAY
Just another reminder that Monday 5th November is a
curriculum day and students are not required at school
on this day. Big Childcare will be running on the day for
any parents needing child care. This is the day
before Melbourne Cup Day, which of course is also a
public holiday.
CURRICULUM DAYS 2020
School Council have approved the following
curriculum days for 2020:
Term 1: Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th January.
(January 30th will be the first day for students in years 1-6
for 2020). Also, a Parent / Teacher information sharing
day will be held on Wednesday 19th February.
Term 2: 3 Way Conferences will be on Wednesday 24th
June.
Term 3: No Curriculum Days
Term 4: Monday November 2nd (the day before Cup
Day), with the half day in lieu on the 18th December.
SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS 2020
School Contributions for 2020 will be the same as for
2019. That is $205 per child. This cost includes the cost of
all excursions and incursions as well contributing
towards the cost of additional classroom supplies.
The ICT Contribution will also remain the same for 2020,
which is $50 for Foundation and Grade 1 and $100 for
Grade 2 to Grade 6.
More details will follow.

CRAZY SOCK DAY
Friday the 25th of October was our Crazy Sock Day.
Staff and students all came to school wearing their
craziest and most colourful socks for a gold coin
donation to raise money for the GO FOUNDATION.
For information on the GO FOUNDATION go to https://
www.gofoundation.org.au/.
We raised a total of $588.10 on the day. Well done!
Thanks to all who wore their crazy socks on the day and
donated to the foundation.
ADMINISTRATION REMINDER
Just a reminder that office hours are 8.30am - 4.30pm.
Teachers are on yard duty from 8.45am in the mornings
and until 3.35pm after school. Students should not arrive
at school unsupervised prior to that time as this creates
a safety issue for the child.
If you are unable to pick up your child at 3.20pm,
please organise alternative arrangements. This may
mean contacting Big Childcare to book them in for
after school care or arranging for an emergency
contact to pick them up.

these competitions.

all our school bankers of some dates to keep in mind.

bank with us on this day will automatically go into the
draw to win 1 of 5 prize packs. This has been organised
by the School Banking Team here at Parkwood Green!
Be in it to win it!
Monday 2nd December: will be the last opportunity to
order rewards for the year.
Monday 16th December: will be our final banking day
for 2019.
The School Banking program for 2020 will resume the
first Monday back of the school year.
CHRISTMAS RAFFLE DONATIONS
With Christmas fast approaching we are now asking
members of our school community to donate items to
go towards our Annual Christmas Raffle prizes.
We would gratefully accept vouchers, non perishable
food items, toys, cosmetics etc. There is a box in the
front office where donations can be placed.
We thank you in advance for your contribution.
Information regarding ticket sales will follow in the next
few weeks.
INDIGENOUS GARDEN
The students across all year levels have been working
hard contributing to the Indigenous Garden and we are
looking forward to its official opening on Friday the 6th of
December.
To raise money for a commemorative plaque that will be
placed in the garden in recognition of our students work
we are holding a silver coin donation month. This will run
for the whole month of November.
Students are encouraged to bring as many silver coins as
they can throughout November to help their class work
towards the heaviest collection. The class with the
heaviest weight in coins in both the junior and senior
school at the end of the month will win a prize.
Let’s see how heavy our coin collection can get.

GRADE 3/4 DISTRICT CRICKET
On Monday 28th October some Grade 3/4 students played in the District
Cricket against some local schools.
Team Finch played 2 games of cricket and had a bye in round 3. We won by 22
runs in the 1st game against Brookside and played a good game. In game 2
we won by 14 and bowled well with 10 wickets taken. In the grand final we
sadly lost by 53 runs to CTP. We finished 2nd out of 7 teams. We had a great
day! - Preston and Zac
Team Healy played 3 matches and a final. We won our 1st and 3rd match but
lost the 2nd. It’s ok though because WE MADE THE FINALS!
We played against Brookside and got 48 runs to their 73 runs, but with there
bonus points they got 90 runs and with our bonus points we got 113, so we won!
- Girls cricket team
Team Maxwell played 3 games against Christ the priest who we lost to by 25
runs. Then we won our last 2 games by 103 runs and 99 runs. We then played a
game for fun and unfortunately we lost by 11 runs. - Zach and Riley
The students represented Parkwood Green very well and should be proud of
their efforts.
