Message from the Principal

Hi Everyone

Cyber Safety Evening - Thurs 7.00pm in the library

This Thursday leading teacher James Quilty will be

hosting an evening based around cyber safety. Topics

to be covered include:

Social Media

What we are doing at school

How you can Help at Home

Bring a friend and come along!!!

School Leaders 2018

This morning I dropped by the grade 5s to have a chat

about our upcoming selection of next year’s leaders.

The basis of the chat was about the level of constant

commitment required in each of the positions and the

high level of trust invested in the successful candidates.

As always it is interesting to follow how the process

pans out. Last year, the position of ‘vice-captain’ was

phased out and the position of school captain extended

to four. Jayden, Zoe, Ellena and Bailey have certainly

lived up to expectations…. this decision and have been

a fantastic team throughout the year. I hope the year 5s

have been keeping an eye on them!

2018

Thank you for your input into class organisation. This

information will now be added to the mix as we prepare

for 2018.

If your child will not be attending Montrose PS in 2018

please let the office know if you have not already done

so.

Swimming Carnival

Due to illness and other circumstances the school

leadership team has decided that the House Swim

Carnival will not go ahead this year.

Parent Helper Morning Tea at 11.00

On Thursday November 30th we would love to meet up

with all of our parent helpers for a ‘thank you morning

tea’. This will be held in the hall. Invitations are coming

home this week.

After School Basketball

Our After School Basketball program is a lot of fun, but only operates due to the fantastic job done by two of our Montrose PS Mums.

They will be handing over this role in 2018 and are looking for any interested parents wanting to become the new After School Basketball Coordinators.

If this is something that you would enjoy, please see the office for further details.

For the second week in a row, this time due to illness, I started the morning without a canteen helper. With no one available to help in the morning, I was unable to bake Anzacs and the children went without at recess and lunch. I was very grateful to Miss Perry for dropping in and offering her help to count money. Chloe Cairney and Megan Salen also stopped in to save the day. Chloe had a couple of hours she could spare to help me prepare food & serve at recess and Megan popped in to help pack lunches and serve at lunch time. We have a great team of volunteer mums who keep the canteen in operation and I am very lucky that someone is always available at the 11th hour when I am in desperate need. Thanks team I always love it when grandparents help in the canteen, and over the last two years we have had 4 Grandmas join our rostered teams. One of our Grandmas travels from Bon Beach to help out and she loves every minute of it. On Friday I welcomed a new helper, Megan Carbery. Megan picked up the canteen routine very quickly and was visited by her son. Next year we will have 2 volunteers on a Wednesday and 3 on Friday. If you would like to join in the canteen fun in 2018 please give me a call on 0428 380 432 or grab a canteen volunteer form from the office or school website. FROZEN JUICE CUPS UNAVAILABLE I am unable to purchase juice cups at present as they are currently unavailable. I have stock that should last this week but after that I will be selling ‘Juicies’ which are a Calipo style icy pole. Juicies will be available in Orange and Tropical and cost $1.20 (same as a juice cup). Canteen Volunteer Thank you A BIG thank you to Miss Perry, Chloe Cairney and Megan Salen for coming to my rescue on Wednesday. Also, a BIG thanks to Ann Allen, Gemma Heemskerk and Megan Carbery for helping out on Friday What can I buy? Juicies are available in Orange or Tropical for $1.20 (replacing juice cups at present) Amanda

What is it?

Being of service means looking for ways to help others rather than waiting to be asked.

It is doing things for people just to be helpful,

not because you expect you will be rewarded for doing so.

It is wanting to make a difference in the lives of

others because you care. Being of service is making a real contribution to society,

no matter how small.
