® SCHNEIDER-KESSEL BERLINSTEAM BOILER and HOT WATER BOILER

ELECTRICALLY HEATED BOILER - Series HDO-E and HWO-E

G E N E R A L

The SCHNEIDER Steam Generator of type HDO-E and the SCHNEIDER Hot Water Generator type HWO-E are

designed as electrically heated boilers for special installation and operation conditions. Operation and working mode

of HDO-E and HWO-E boilers are in compliance with the operation and working mode of all conventional steam and

hot water generators. However, due to the fact that there are no flue gas passes in the HDO-E and HWO-E boilers,

the dimensions are significantly smaller even though the water content and capacity are the same.

Since the HDO-E and HWO-E are shell boilers, the same technical regulations apply for design and manufacturing as

for the SCHNEIDER Three Pass boiler of series HDO and HWO.

The HDO-E and HWO-E boiler is designed as a horizontal pressure vessel with internal electrical heating packs. The

shell end plates are of torispherical design without any gusset stays or tie rods and hence avoiding the well known

problems with gusset stays and tie rods. Another advantage of the torispherical end plates is that the circumferential

welds can be 100% x-ray checked which is a huge benefit in comparison with regular flat end plates.

One end plate is equipped with sufficient neck flange nozzles to install the electrical heating packs. In addition these

neck flange nozzles are used for inspection and cleaning of the boiler.

Lowest possible dimensions in comparison with conventionallyw heated and designed

boilers of same capacity.

Applies ideally to limited spaces due to compact design.

No lines connected for fuel supply and flue gas outlet.

No fuel storage tanks needed.

No environmental pollution or explosion risk

when utilizing liquid or gaseous fuels.

Minimized operation costs / service,

maintenance, repair in comparison with

conventionally heated boilers.

Less leakage possibilities of faulty

welding in comparison with

conventionally heated boilers.

72 hours operation without permanent

supervision because of state-of-the-art

self controlling and redundant

electronic safety systems.

Prefabricated and preinstalled package.

Boiler including electrically installed control box, feed pumps,

auxiliary fittings etc. delivered on site ready for operation.

We supply the HDO-E and HWO-E in the capacity range from 200 kW (300 kg/h) up to 2000 kW (3000 kg/h) as a

serial product. Boilers for larger capacities up to 20-30 MW are available upon request and will be custom designed.

The control box comprises all necessary controller and electrical switches to operate the boiler in a modulating mode.

Communication to existing PLC- Sytems can be enabled easily. The control box will be delivered separatly for local

installation and perfect fit into existing space availability.

Design and fabrication of HDO-E and HWO-E is in accordance with the German Technical Regulation for Steam Boiler

(TRD) respectively Euro-Norm EN-12953 in connection with the Pressure Vessel Directive DGRL 97/23/EG as stationary

boiler (land-based boiler).

In addition, boilers of series HDO-E and HWO-E can be delivered classified as marine boilers in accordance with

the regular classification standards such as GL – “Germanischer Lloyd”, LR – “Lloyds Register”, DNV – “Det Norske

Veritas” BV – “Bureau Veritas” and NOFO. The fabrication is supervised and monitored by representatives of the

respective authority.

Boiler equipment parts and systems used are certified by the respective classification authorities.

The HDO-E and HWO-E boilers are used where

conventional boilers cannot be installed because of

limited space, restrictions by regulation, hygienic con-

straints or economic reasons:

in the pharmaceutical industry,

in hospitals,

in the ship building and off shore industry,

as emergency or stand by units for conventional

boilers in any industry.

buffering overcapicities of electrical energy into

district heating networks.

high pressure steam applications with a steam

demand for low capcities (< 500kg/h) pressure

levels up to 150 bar.
