1). Letter from a principal (client or owner) to a contractor stating the date the contractor can begin work subject to the conditions of the

contract. The performance time of the contract starts from the NTP date.http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/notice-to-proceed-NTP.html

    SCHEDULE BASELINE NARRATIVE

    MMMM DD, YYYY

    I. OVERVIEWContractor received a Noticed to Proceed (NTP)1) of October 17, 2012, for construction of XXX project.

Contractual for this project is 500 calendar days. Project final completion is to be achieved by March 01,

2014. Inclement weather day(s) totaling 25 calendar days (18 days per year) have been included in the

baseline schedule as allowed per Article xx.xa of the contract documents. The project documents

require completion of new XXX facilities based upon staged interim milestone.

II. MILESTONEThe milestone constraints included in the Baseline Schedule in accordance with the contract document

    requirements as follows:

    1. 180 (calendar days) from NTP-Work to be performed within the time period includes construction ofPackage 01 and relocation of existing equipments.

    2. 360 (calendar days) from NTP-Work to be performed within the time period includes construction ofPackage 02 and Package 03. This work is sequenced so as to allow for the substantial completion of

all appurtenance facilities prior to pre-commissioning of the new equipments themselves. This

includes additional emergency safety equipments and additional aeration capacity.

    3. 400 (calendar days) from NTP-Work to be performed within the time period includes startingequipments, pre-commissioning. In this milestone includes modification and additional items.

    4. 500 (calendar days) from NTP-Work to be performed within the time period includes all handoverdocuments package and remeasuring or reconciliation work quantity.

III.SCHEDULE STRUCTUREThis CPM schedule is developed utilizing standard network analysis diagram methods. Work sequences

and logic is derived from the requirements of the Contract documents as it relates to construction

constrained sequences and operational issue. The most current information with regard to procurement

and work durations including information provided by major subcontractor has been incorporated into

    this baseline schedule.

2). Zero Total Float method is method will be used to calculate or to maintain the critical path.

The schedule is developed using a 6-day workweek calendar (Calendar 01). Cure times for concrete and

some procurement durations are shown in a 7-day workweek calendar (Calendar 02).

Generally, work activities durations do not exceed 15 days (2 work weeks) in duration. Inclement

weather days are shown as required.

No float suppression techniques were used in developing this schedule. Activities that have constrained

dates are those that must have logically be constrained due to resource allocation issues or as may be

mandated by the construction sequence(s) required by contract documents.

The following are reports that will be used for the progress schedule update:

    1. Narrative2. Critical Path Bar Chart (behind the narrative)3. Area by Early Start Report4. Total Float by Early Start Report5. Network Logic Report6. Submittal Report by Submittal Package7. Milestone Analysis8. Claim Digger Report (schedule comparison report)

IV.CRITICAL PATHEach of the interim milestone required the construction documents is arranged to provide a critical

path. Each separate critical path is characterized by zero total float2). Each path is also tied to submittal

reviews and procurement times. Each major area of construction that involves new equipment has

separate commissioning activities identified to ensure sufficient duration for integration into existing

    plant operations.

    V. EARLY START CONSTRAINTSConstruction activities constrained to start at a designated date are as follows i.e.:

    1. Activity ID xxx1234-Excavate 4m & 8m Constrained based on excavator availability.2. Activity ID xxx4567-Cleaning and Touchup Constrained based on manpower availability.3. Activity ID xxx8999-Dismantle formwork Work in this area not required to commence until the

    constrained date.
