The timer is easy to use. To make the best use of it,however, please read and follow precisely the di-rections given below.

Installing the batteriesBefore the instrument is used, two 1.5 V dry-cellbatteries must be fitted, type LR 44, V 13 GA, RW82 or similar. To do this, remove the lid from thebattery compartment at the back of the timer andinstall the batteries in accordance with the correctpolarity. Placing the batteries the wrong way roundmay damage the timer. After installing the batter-ies, replace the battery compartment lid.The function of the batteries is to store the meas-urements and programmes.

OperationThe operating modes of the timer are arranged asshown below:

CLOCK � PROGRAM 1 ON � PROGRAM 1 OFF� PROGRAM 2 ON � PROGRAM 2 OFF � ...PROGRAM 20 ON � PROGRAM 20 OFF � CDPROGRAM � CLOCK ...

When the PROG sign is lit, this means that the pro-gramme mode is displayed. When the CD PROGsymbol is lit, this means that the countdown modeis displayed. You can go through the programmesand/or transfer from one function to the next withthe »�« (up) or »�« (down) keys. If the »�« (up)or »�« (down) key is pressed and held for morethan one second, the key will repeat your action au-tomatically. Pressing and holding again for two se-conds increases the speed of repetition.

To return immediately to the clock display modefrom another mode, simply press the »�« (up)and »�« (down) keys simultaneously to activatethe rapid transfer.

Setting the clock

1. In the clock mode, access the clock settingmode by pressing the SET key. The word SETwill appear in the display, together with theWeekday box flashing, as shown in Fig. 1.

2. Select the desired input with the »�« (up) or»�« (down) key.

3. Confirm the input and access the next box bypressing the SET key. The Hour box now flashes.

4. Repeat steps 2. and 3. until all the data havebeen set.

5. For the value in the Second box, press the »�«(up) or »�« (down) key to set the value to zero.

6. After all the data have been set, the word SETwill go out and the timer will return to the clockdisplay mode, as shown in Fig. 2.

7. You can change from the 12-hour to 24-hour dis-play and vice versa in the clock setting mode bymeans of the RND key.

1500 km of Frankfurt am Main.If the antenna symbol fades out after flashing formore than 12 minutes, this means that the signallevel is extremely weak and that the clock shouldbe placed in another location where it may possi-bly be able to receive a stronger signal. If the prob-lem persists, press the RANDOM key once in theclock mode. This will cause the clock to receive thetime signal again and the antenna symbol will alsoflash accordingly.

Setting a programmeWith this timer, you can set up to 20 ON/OFFprogrammes. To do this, carry out the steps asdescribed in the example below.

Example for setting programme 1:MO 8:15 ON / MO 15:45 OFFIn the above example, the clock switches on at08.15 and off at 15.45 on Mondays.

1. Press the »�« (up) or »�« (down) key to ac-cess the ‘programme 1 ON’ mode, which will beindicated by the message PROG 1 ON in thedisplay. The ‘programme 1 ON’ mode is shownin Fig. 3 without any setting.

2. Press the SET key once to access theprogramme setting mode. The word SET willappear in the display with the Weekday boxflashing.

3. With the »�« (up) or »�« (down) key, selectthe day on which programme 1 should beswitched on and off. The day display then goesthrough MO-SU (each day), MO-FR, MO-SAand SA-SU in succession, then repeats itself. Inthis example, you would press SET as soon asMO appeared in the display.

4. Now the Hour box should flash. With the »�«(up) or »�« (down) key, set this box to 8, thenpress the SET key.

5. Now the Minute box should flash. With the »�«(up) or »�« (down) key, set this box to 15, thenpress the SET key.

6. To conclude the setting of programme 1, pressthe SET key. The display will now resemble thatshown in Fig. 4.

7. To switch off programme 1 at 15.45, press the»�« (up) or »�« (down) key until PROG 1 OFFappears in the display, then carry out the samesteps as for programme 1 ON.

8. If you wish to set a number of programmes, pressthe »�« (up) or »�« (down) key until PROG 2ON is displayed. Carry out the steps describedabove to set all the other programmes.

9. When all the desired programmes have beenset, simply leave all the keys untouched for oneminute. The timer will then automatically revertto the clock display mode. Alternatively, press-ing the »�« (up) and »�« (down) keyssimultaneously achieves the same effect.

Setting the countdown timing functionBy means of the countdown function, the timer canbe switched on or off for any period between 1second and 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds.To set the downward counting time, proceed as fol-lows.Example: Setting the countdown time so that thetimer remains switched on for 1 hour, 10 minutesand 00 seconds.

1. Access the CD PROG display by pressing the»�« (up) or »�« (down) key.

2. Press the SET key. The word SET is displayedand ON appears flashing.

3. With the »�« (up) or »�« (down) key, selectON, then press the SET key.

4. The Hour box should then flash. With the »�«(up) or »�« (down) key, set this box to 1, thenpress the SET key.

5. The Minute box should then flash. With the »�«(up) or »�« (down) key, set this box to 10, thenpress the SET key.

6. The Second box should now flash. With the»�« (up) or »�« (down) key, set this box to 00,then press the SET key.

7. Press the SET key to conclude the countdownsetting. The display will now resemble thatshown in Fig. 5.

8. The countdown function is activated with the CDkey. If this key is pressed again, the countdown

stops and the display reverts to the presetcountdown value.

9. When the countdown function is active, the CDsymbol flashes in the display, even if the timer isin a different display mode.

Counting down cannot be started when the ran-dom function is active. During this time, all yourpreset programs will also be deactivated. Activat-ing the manual ON/OFF switching function can-cels the countdown function.

Activating the random functionThe timer features an integral random function,with which it is switched on and off at random inter-vals. This is particularly useful for protecting yourhome during your absence.

There are three random operating modes, i.e.1. Fixed, short random interval mode

On-time: 16 - 31 minutesOff-time: 32 - 63 minutes

2. Fixed long random interval modeOn-time: 32 - 63 minutesOff-time: 64 - 127 minutes

3. Programmable random interval modeOn-time: 16 - 31 minutesOff-time: 32 - 64 minutes

To activate the timer for short random intervals,press the RND key while the clock or programme1-19 is displayed. The RND symbol will now flash,indicating that the function is active. To deactivatethe function, press the RND key again.To activate the timer for long random intervals,press the RND key while the countdown timer isdisplayed. The L-RND symbol will now flash, indi-

cating that this function is active. To deactivate thefunction, press the RND key again.The random function can be changed so that it isonly active during a specific period of time (e.g. atnight only, for the domestic lighting system). To dothis, set the last programme (e.g. programme 20)to the time period in which the random functionshould be activated.Example: If you want a lamp to be lit on weekdayevenings from 19.30 to 23.00, set programme 20 ONto Mo-Fr 19.30 and programme 20 OFF to Mo-Fr 23.00.Check to ensure that programme 20 is still shownin the display and press the RND key to activatethe programmable random function (if program 20is not displayed, pressing the RND key will onlyactivate the fixed random function).Once the programmable random function hasstarted, the RND symbol will be displayed insteady mode during the inactive period and flash-ing in the active period.When the random function is active, all your presetprogrammes, including the countdown pro-gramme, will be deactivated. You can only reacti-vate them by switching off the random generator,i.e. by pressing the RND key again. Activating themanual ON/OFF switching function cancels therandom function.

Summer time/winter timeTo convert GMT to summer time, press and holddown the »�« (up) and »�« (down) keys simulta-neously for two seconds in the clock display mode.The present time will advance by one hour and the»�« symbol will appear, indicating that the summertime mode has been activated. To return to GMTtime, press and hold the »�« (up) and »�« (down)keys again simultaneously for two seconds.

Manual on/off switchingThe timer can be switched on or off at any time bymeans of the ON/OFF key without this affectingany programmes.To switch the timer on, press the ON/OFF key. Toswitch it off, press the ON/OFF key again. The ONor OFF sign displayed flashing indicates that themanual ON/OFF switching function is active.

Single/total programme deactivating functionWith this function, you can deactivate and activateindividual or all preset ON/OFF programmes andthe CD programme by pressing the ON/OFF key.To deactivate a specific programme, call up theprogramme or CD programme in the display whichyou wish to deactivate by means of the »�« (up)or »�« (down) key and press the SET key. Thedisplay will flash and the word SET will light up.Press the ON/OFF key to deactivate the pro-gramme. The X symbol will now appear, as shown inFig. 6, indicating that this particular programme hasbeen deactivated.

Note: The display will continue to flash. If no fur-ther change is intended to be made to the presetprogrammed time, press the SET key until theflashing stops. By means of this function, you candeactivate as many of the available preset pro-grammes as you wish.To deactivate all the programmes, press the SETkey in the clock mode, then the ON/OFF key while

the display is flashing to deactivate all the pro-grammes. The X symbol will now appear, indicat-ing that all the preset programmes have beendeactivated.To cancel the deactivating function, repeat thesteps described above to switch off the X symbol.

Automatic return/rapid transfer to clockdisplayIf no action is taken during the programming of thetimer, (or another mode is displayed) for more thanone minute, the display will revert automatically tothe clock display mode and the programmingprocess will be cancelled. If, however, the displayshows the continuing countdown time, the auto-matic return will only be activated when the down-ward counting process has ended.To activate the rapid transfer function, press the»�« (up) or »�« (down) keys simultaneously.The display will automatically revert to the clockdisplay mode.

Resetting (RESET function)To reset all the input data, press the RESET keywith a round object, e.g. a ballpoint pen. This willdelete all the preset programmes in the memory.

Abnormal displayIf the display is abnormal or non-existent, carry outthe resetting process described above, otherwisethe timer may not function faultlessly. Check thecondition of the batteries and replace if necessary.
