Scenic Preliminary Design Packet Spring 2009
New Horizons provides playwrights and directors alike with the unique opportunity to explore new works in theatre. Florida State’s new works festival
allows both thespians and audience members to reveal new truths, discover new journeys, and tell new stories. In a time when society can be so
synthesized, it is a good reminder to us all that the simple act of story telling can still be powerful and moving.
Our challenge then is to have a cohesive festival while still providing a unique yet simple background for each play to tell it’s story. This festival is not about
creating six new worlds, but rather it is about setting a mental and visual tone.
