Open Publisher bottom left click - Click - All programs Microsoft Office - Publisher
Place cursor over toolbar make sure page is maximised, centre square showing all tabs.
Open publisher
Left side gives choice of different templates
Middle gives popular selections
Right shows recent publications you have created
Click Calendar on left
Click and highlight a calendar design to use
Right side - Customize - selection now shows you different ways to customize your Calendar
Click the down arrow under Business Information
Select - create new
Here you can input all your business information and the rest is done for you. Click OK
Notice in the middle section the Calendar you chose earlier has now changed with all your information on the Calendar.
Starting from basics.
Left side click - Under Publication Type - blank page sizes choose A4 landscape double click
New Blank page appears on the screen, the fine line shows your margins. These can be adjusted Top menu bar File Page Setup On left of new dialogue box - Change your margin guides OK - Close
Left now shows page options and schemes you can choose any of these to help.
We will stay basic Select the big - Word Art Double click
New choices appear in the new dialogue box called Word Art Gallery
Select your choice of Word Art.- Double Click
A new dialogue box opens you can type in your new word.
Over the type your new information in the box provide. The text is already selected and ready to be over typed.
Click OK Your new word will appear. In your document
You will be able to resize by stretching the handles. Hover over a handle and hold it with left mouse button and drag.
To move the new word hover over the new word a cross wil appear. At this stage you hold down you left mouse button at the same time as dragging the mouse. You can position the new word anywhere on your document.
A helpful box appears wher you can start to change the text or re colour the font or the back ground.
The back ground colour can be changed by clicking the bucket
Click the another dialog box opens where you can adjust or change the shape of your new word.
Change the shape of your word
Inserting a picture or clip art
Place your cursor in the area you want your new picture or clip art. Make sure you dont have the word computing highlighted- as you will bring the picture into this space and lose you word computing.
Top menu bar click Insert
Here you can choose clip art. Clip art will have a selection to choose from.
One left click with mouse button select - clip art- your choice will bring the clip art picture into you document.
Insert the name of an object clip art
Click - Go
You will get a selection of clip art relating to the word computers if that is the clip art search.
One left click on your selection will bring the clip art object into your document
You can click on the handles to resize your picture.
To select a picture/photo from your file, click From File
You filing system becomes visible, from here you can select your photograph.
Click on pictures another dialogue box opens with a selection of your photographs which have been saved previously. Make your selection - Double clicking with the left mouse button will bring your photograph into your document or choose insert this will also bring your photograph into your document.
You can resize your picture by using the handles and dragging your mouse keeping the left mouse button depressed. ( Handles will only be visible if the picture is highlighted. )
Placing a shape with texture and colour around your document.
Left side of the screen select the rectangle by clicking once with the left mouse button.
When this is selected you now have the rectangle tool to use. Drag this rectangle over your document from corner to corner. A line will appear around your document. You can still see the word Computing& your picture through the rectangle. When the rectangle handles are visible you can click you right mouse button and choose some other choices.
Click the down arrow and choose fill effects. Click ok you will need to click - ok - again when you see the fill auto change.
You will then see the rectangle box covers the rectangle with a fill effect pattern. Your picture and new word are now underneath the rectangle
This is where you move the rectangle to the back of the document.
The picture and new word computing comes forward.
With the rectangle selected ie: showing the handles
Top menu bar click - Arrange click order
Click send to back
You will now see your new word and picture reappear on top of the rectangle.
If you are not happy about your selection double click in the rectangle space and you can change your choice. Try choosing 2 colours, you can even change the direction of the fill effects. Click ok your rectangle will change and you will still see your picture and new word.
Grouping
You now have 3 objects on your document. New Word ( computing ) your picture ( computer and books) and the rectangle which has shading and 2 colours. If you want to resize all 3 objects together you need to group them all.
On the left in the draw tool bar click this pointer gives you ability to lasso all the objects together.
When this lasso is selected you drag your mouse with left button depressed across all the objects . you will notice all the object boxes have all the handles showing.
Top menu bar Arrange Group ( Group connects the object boxes selected.
You will also notice a short cut icon
You can click the icon, this also groups and un groups the selection. ( Only when your selection is highlighted
If you have a problem selecting all the objects.
Top menu bar Edit Select all Arrange -Group. Or click the
When you have all 3 objects grouped you can resize by using the handles.
Once you are happy with your document make sure to save in one of your folders.
