IntroductionAs the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, successful hospitals and acute centers are transforming uncertainty into possibility through long-term investments in their IT infrastructure. Image volume explosionAs the population ages, more imaging procedures are required to address growing healthcare needs. In addition, new modalities are producing increasing volumes of data that must be read and managed. The result? Physicians are overloaded, more resources are needed for IT management and attention to patients can suffer.

Key challenges in radiology

Radiologists need to read one image every three to four seconds in order to keep up with current demand.¹

Up to 30 percent in potential cost savings remain unrealized due to a lack of system integration.3

Up to 78 percent of surveyed providers ranked greater physician-to-physician communication as a key goal.4
