IS YOUR FUTURE IN SCAFFOLDING?Have you got a head for heights? Scaffolders put up and take down scaffolding which allows workers to reach the higher levels of buildings safely during construction, cleaning and renovation projects.

Becoming a scaffolder requires training in how specialised fittings and units are put together to erect a technically sound

and effective platform for people to work and construct from. A comprehensive knowledge of how to build large access and

scaffolding structures safely and the ability to follow instructions accurately is required.

There is a clear route of career progression within the industry and an experienced scaffolder can travel the world with a sought-

after skill set.

REAL LIFE STORY:

RICHARD

An apprentice has built up his career

in the scaffolding industry through an

apprenticeship with Training 2000.

Richard said:

I enjoy the physical and technical

challenges scaffolding brings to my

working day. It’s a good industry to be a

part of with the strict requirements onsite.

I enjoy the graft we put in and the

complexity around the jobs we erect whilst

onsite. Once I’ve completed my courses I

want to progress onto my advance training,

maybe even supervisor courses and venture

into owning my own business one day!

“I can’t thank my instructor enough, he has been attentive to my learning needs

and is always helpful when I ask for something. I would recommend Training 2000

to anyone who would like to get into the construction industry. All the staff are

ace, really friendly and make it an enjoyable place to be!

THE LEARNER JOURNEYThe Government has raised the age that young people can leave education to 18, but what does that mean for you? Well, what it definitely doesn’t mean is that you have to stay in sixth form or college, you can opt out of the classroom and into further training, by choosing an Apprenticeship.

We offer an exciting Scaffolding Apprenticeship, with flexible entry levels. You will earn a wage and work as a company employee whilst gaining your qualification.

Areas covered by this course:• Safe working practices in construction• Erect and dismantle basic scaffolding structures:

Independent, Birdcage, Cantilever, Tower, Pavement and Roof Scaffolds

• Erect and dismantle Aluminium Mobile Towers• Knowledge of building methods and construction technology• Safe use of harness and fall prevention

methods• Manual handling in the

scaffolding industry• Maths & English Level 1 /

2 (Functional Skills)

Scaffolders aren’t tied to a particular field or even location.

You might put up scaffolding on a terraced house or you may be using scaffolding methods to put up temporary spectator stands at public events or festivals. You could also be involved in building the scaffolding that holds concrete in place on large structures like bridges.

You would travel from site to site, and if you wish you can travel from country to country within a specialist scaffolding firm, building contractor, on an oil rig or for a power company. Areas that have booming scaffolding industries include Malaysia, India, China, the Middle East and New Zealand.

With experience, you could move into supervisory, estimating, scaffolding design or construction management roles.

We have used Training 2000 on a regular basis for a variety of courses and have always received good feedback from the apprentices and delegates who have attended the courses.
